I have been working in this industry for a pretty long time and can vouch for the fact that Tata took the most sensible and practical decision. The problem with people criticising the new Safari is that they are unable to comprehend Tata step up their status in the industry to a premium auto makers. Did you ever consider Tata to be a premium auto maker in the past? Obviously, no. And you still want Tata to continue enjoying their status as a mediocre auto brand for an average middle class people. It’s actually a shame on those people who discourage Tata in their efforts to become to a premium auto maker in the country. Period.

@@LuvvSURYA That was inappropriate to judge him. Tata Safari had always been seen as a premium vehicle and other vehicles like the Hexa, Storme, Aria and Manza are definitely seen as premium vehicles. He didn't say anything about status so please hold down that thought. You staying in the industry is probably the reason you're unable to see from a customer's point of view, or maybe not. But please understand that there definitely were a lot of missed opportunities in the newer Safari. Unlike the original Safari, the new model does not set any new benchmarks, and that is exactly why it stands among the crowd of other comparable vehicles, not apart from it. I can understand many people bringing the Storme into the comparision, but the Storme was a different standalone product which sold for more than half a decade alongside the DiCOR, and wasn't really a generation rather an upmarket alternative. The newer Tata Safari advertisements with the theme of the DiCOR commercials and the constant featuring of the Storme in SOUL alongside the Harrier, Hexa and the new Safari even today is a testament to this. The new Safari is rightfully a replacement of the DiCOR, and if people like these reviewers stop giving the wring information, it will be great. The Storme, which was the upmarket and offroad capable alternative never recieved a generation change, should not be compared with the new Safari, because the consumer expectations from both vehicles are different. Hence, the stark difference of opinions among the potential customers. Tata is smart, and as soon as people start to realize the new Safari to be a replacement of the DiCOR, everything makes so much sense.

@@AbhiDrakeForscythe : Although, your missive was a difficult read given you didn’t choose to put it in paragraphs and I have attention deficient disorder, but I figured you and I are on the same page. I have no problem with Tata not introducing 4x4 in the new Safari in the wake of less demand from the customers in the previous version when they used to offer one in 4x4. And I think addition of 4x4 in Safari just for the sake ‘King of Off-road’ title would not be a smart move that would further add to its cost of manufacturing which would be passed on to the customers where majority of them would end up with 4x2 version only. The only people bellyaching against Tata not offering 4x4 in the new Safari are the ones who never really owned a previous Safari and only watched the car in action in movies.

Old safari is great grandfather of the new safari ( big harrier ) the old one was 4x4 and this one is front wheel drive . I like the old one most . Safari is legendary but Tata have totally changed it now it is not legendary. Old safari 😍😍😍😍😍

Dude u need to understand. Old safari needed to be upgraded. Not changed. So they called a vehicle something and then with success of Thar they just named it Safari. But this is not a Safari. NOT AT ALL.

Boss, the only reasons people were not going to Safari because there were new machanism and features available. They just wished or wanted to have same Safari Storme updated with latest features with same looks and same built up. Whenever I see Safari Storme, I utter King of the road is going. I don't like bulky fortuner or endeavour or other ones, the looks of Safari Storme is legendary and I beg TATA Motors to relaunch it with new features in same built up and same looks.

What I meant to say is old Safari was classic and has different standard while new one is stylish and get different features but it can't match the old one in any way so we have to accept it as the all new generation safari not the classic safari , just like pant is good, stylish, aggresive but he can't match Dhoni. I beg to differ, that TRS dial is not a gimmick, it really works, i have been to many kinds of rough roads and jungle roads with the harrier, going adventure and all, the rough road mode works perfectly fine, any other fwd car won't pass through, i gueantee. It's not a proper 4x4, but it is a capable 4x2.

Safari is an emotion and the new car doesn’t make the mark. Main esp’s of storme are road presence and command over road due to it’s high seating behind the wheel. And I think this main features are lost in new one.

The new one is a very good vehicle, no doubt about that. It is a "Buzzard" or a "Gravitas", but definitely not a Safari. But as long as it gets good numbers for the company, they are going to be happy and not be bothered about how the Safari fanatics feel about it. For me, this Safari is not "Safari" enough. And as you rightly said, "Ye Safari nahi Harrier hai, ek do zyada logon ka carrier hai!"

This has been comically put together. However there is a tad unfairness given in assessment to the Safari storme in a way to show it not as supposedly good as the new Safari. If you wanted to compare why did you not park aside the last generation 400 NM Varicor VX and compare? And what are you guys talking about features? The raised roof is not really raised, the roof rails are a bit of a fake. Why are you guys talking about screens and buttons. Those are nice gizmo talk. Can you take the new car to the places the old one did? Can this qualify for military service? Can you get the rear wheel drive feel from the power train from a front wheel drive soft roader? Can this compete with the Pajero and the Fortuner or sorry… it is now in the club of Hector and XUV and maybe the Innova Crysta too. Mr 90s journalist here has done a fantastic job of not representing what the storme was all about. Very sad. The new car is a beauty salon in a war zone. This relaunch is clearly an exercise in masquerading the old iconic name to drive sales of a new vehicle that is indeed fantastic in its own right. But comparing both is an insult to the old. If it was so sloppy why did it have a fan following? Last but not the least - please don’t bang the bonnet of the old Safari. I have driven these cars for last 12 years- they don’t need to be banged the way you did.

am gonna go with Safari Storme, none of them can match the beast Safari Storme. Very Sad, Tata Motors took it off. They could have modified the features in the same look with much comfort. Safari Storme looks can never be matched by any SUV makers. Am literally sad Safari Storme is no more and TATA Motors people won't even care of emotions of customers like me.
