The battery being a shared standard is a HUGE deal for me; that’s what I’ve wanted to see for a while. Hopefully we’ll see a version with 2 batteries so we can get a bit more power. I ride a 125cc right now and that’s the minimum amount of power I want.

Test drive something that is 5000 watts @ 72 volts 82 volts fully charged with a 150 amp controller. Youll know what to look for. Something with 2 batteries will only give you more drive time. The high wattage of the hub motor and the high voltage gives you the power and speed.

I've just bought one of these Actives for my wife. Can't believe what a feature packed fun little thing it is (the scooter, not my missus :D ). I'm also glad that the battery is considered "standard". Should make getting a spare less expensive if the need arises.

your website specs is not saying what wattage the hub motors are and what amperage that is used. 2.3cc /watts. What is that? 2.3kWh converts to 47amp hours at 48 volts but this is pending on what the true full charge voltage is. No offense but if you sell it ya need to know it and know it well. For the people that are already in the know the missing info if it was not missing could tell them if they want to spend 3 or 4 grand and still have to upgrade it to do what they need it to do or not upgrade it because it is or almost what it should be. Something of this nature i would expect no less than 2000 watts lower end and 3000 watts for the upper end to ensure good hill climbing ability without having to get off and walk it up a hill. Good work on the video.

Thanks for your review. We have had the active one for a month now and really like it. We live in Spain and it is perfect for running around our small village. Ours will usually charge in about 3 hours. It has a blue tooth interface so you can listen to music while riding and keep track of mileage with the Piaggio app. The biggest disappointment with the scooter is the suspension. It is absolutely horrible especially on cobblestone streets. I will definitely be replacing the shocks ASAP.

@@addeade231 It has no problem climbing hills even riding two up. We have had a few scooters before this a Yamaha Zuma and a Vespa ET2. The Piaggio performance is much the same. Never having to buy gas and oil and zero maintenance are a huge plus. I would have preferred a Primavera 125 for more speed and better suspension but am happy with the active as the speed limit here is 50ks. Riding solo with a full charge on the battery it will do 70ks.
@addeade231
@addeade231 Жыл бұрын
@@user-se7vt5ow4e now that is really nice to hear. I can only buy the 50cc equivalent but I hope that can maintain its speed too as the active can. That you can do 70km on a full charge? That is good, even two up. Where I live it is mostly 50 and 70km/h speed limits but some lower like 40 in the built up area.

I definitely agree that the build quality of the NIU does not compete with Vespa or Piaggio. You just have to decide what your priorities are when buying. My NIU N-gt has plastic body panels but it has Panasonic batteries and a Bosch motor that should last a long time. It also has a higher top speed twice the range and a quicker charging time for about half the price.
@billadmond9450
@billadmond9450 2 жыл бұрын
@Craig Campbell When you talk about apples you need to be more specific like for NIU there are several different scooters. But I concord that manufacturers need to give more clear informations regarding the battery cells brand and motor that they use. I've been buying and using electric scooters and bikes for many years and I always and only bought if they have brand batteries and motors.
@craigcampbell1843
@craigcampbell1843 2 жыл бұрын
@@billadmond9450 yeah. I didn’t necessarily WANT to buy a plastic Chinese scooter but I knew the components that mattered the most and would cost the most to replace would be high quality and should last. Plus at the time the NIUs came here the next best option was the electric Vespa. It was over $9,000 and only did 32-33 mph if I remember right. In Fresno where I live going that slow will get you killed. The NIU did 50 mph for half the price so it really wasn’t even a decision for me. Like I said. When you’re buying one of these bikes you have to consider what matters most to you. In San Diego this bike would probably be fast enough. In Fresno it would be too slow. No matter how nice it looks or how cool the blinkers are.
@billadmond9450
@billadmond9450 2 жыл бұрын
@@craigcampbell1843 You need to understand that it's thanks to these "Chinese" if we all can afford to buy electric vehicles among other stuff. The problem lies with the entrepreneurs and retail brands which buy "low" quality Chinese imports because they want to gain 300-500% profit so "Chinese" can make low quality and very high quality stuff, it only depends on how much you can afford. I agree with you that for an electric vehicle the most important features are quality battery and motor otherwise your toy doesn't last more than 2 years.
@craigcampbell1843

@@billadmond9450 the other thing you have to worry about is rebranding. Sometimes you pay more money for the same exact parts. I can tell you from watching this video that the Piaggio and the NIU I have share at least some parts with each other.
