Today I'm sharing a new extreme deep clean of our whole house using our new rainbow vacuum SRX. I'm going to be sharing a review as well as the pros/cons! I hope you enjoy today's extreme cleaning motivation, and get inspired to get up and clean along with me while learning a little bit more about the Rainbow Vacuum!

I just bought a new Rainbow with ALL the extra parts! My old one was 40 years old and has seen us through several house redos, 4 kids and several pets. I orginally felt I had to buy one because my parents were selling them and our historical house had 10 foot ceilings that no other vac would touch. I have never regreted the cost. We have used ours as a shop vac as well as a plumbers tool and leaf blower, although this may not be recomended by the company. It lasted 39 years before it started falling apart, literally! This has been my main vac, although I did go thru a Dirt Devil (which I had bought for my Mother as she was going through vacs like crazy because she couldn't remember how to use them (Dementia). She did burn her Rainbow out, that was about the same age as mine, because she forgot to put water in it and used it dry. Used regularly (I only vac once a week or less, now) this machine will greatly extend the life of your carpets and rugs, as well. Now to find a person experienced with Rainbows to come clean for me, as I am 75 and looking for some rest from house keeping! By the way, although the new model may seem heavy, it is lighter than the one I have used for 40 years and you don't have to lift it up to change the water, like the old one.

I love that you bought another one, and your first one stood the test of time! Yes, one of my clients has an older one and it is definitely a lot heavier. While the new one I find is still quite heavy and yes it is lighter then the older models, I think it's still important to mention for the people who have not previously used one.

I had two rainbow 🌈 vacuums over the years. One we purchased and one a friend gave to us as she didn't like it anymore. My husband sadly got rid of both when we got a house vacuum. The house vacuum is good but my Rainbows were great. I am now suffering from allergies so I am thinking of purchasing a new or used Rainbow for deep cleaning. I loved your video. Thank you for sharing. ❤

Former Rainbow sales rep. Here…. Going on 8 years with the same HEPA on our 2015 bought system. Still looks perfectly clean-as long as you are dumping the water soon enough and are not sucking up non-wettable material, your HEPA filter should last a very long time.

We bought an SRX to! TIP: make sure to keep the water level up to the fill like. It’s a 2 quart water basin. Measure out 2 quarts and pour it in, then mark with a marker where the line is. It should completely (but barley) cover the peg in the water basin. Also, either add water to it or change it out every 20 mins when it’s on high because it evaporates below the full line, and the dust starts to get into the motor fan chamber and exhaust channels, and into the hepa filter on the back. Don’t forget to change the water out before it gets too dirty, or the same thing will happen. Lastly, running it on low speed will also allow dust to bypass the water. The water into captures the dust when it’s at the proper level, when it’s not too dirty, and when the water is being churned hard (on high speed). Setting 3 is for cleaning, 4 is for vacuuming. I only let mine run for 20 mins or so with the time either before or after vacuuming.

Even easier than that, just fill it somewhat above the dome smack dab in the centre of the bottom of the water pan. I've been using Rainbow vacuums since I was 6, and that's nearly 30 years. There were a few years where I didn't have one. The ones I was using back then had a peg as opposed to the dome, but same idea.

The one you used to clean the wood on your bed, should only be used to clean upholstery, curtains, carpeted stairs, couches, car seats, soft surfaces... The small round accessory (dusting brush) is used for dusting furniture, lampshades, hard surfaces or delicate, and as you have a leather sofa you should use that small round dusting brush.

Hi Brianne, The attachment you had in your hand at 05:30, is called the inflator/deflator tool. You can inflate and deflate air mattresses, beach balls, exercise balls, balloons, etc. When you are inflating, attach the hose to the blower connection on the back of the Rainbow. Take off the cap first, and you'll see where the hose connects to.

Makes me laugh when people say Rainbow are a "scam". You wouldnt walk into Porsche and say they're a scam because you can buy a fiesta for £20k!!!??? We have had Rainbows in my family since 1984 and still going strong. I now have four and absolutely love them. The only criticism i have is for the price you should get ALL the attachments as they make you realise how awesome and versatile this machine is!! Great video you are very sweet 😊

Because they ARE a scam...... It's a pyramid scheme.... They tell you that you can have a FREE VACUUM if you just sell it to two more people (who can also participate in the "free vacuum" program).... That's UNSUSTAINABLE.... What ends up happening is a few people get a "free one" and a lot of people have nobody else to rope into this and are left HOLDING THE BAG, a 3500$ bag .....

Hi Brianne I have My Rainbow for 12 years. I don't regret the purchase or the price. i have allergies and not having a bag is what sold me on Rainbow I still live at home with my Mom and we have 2 dogs that shed like crazy the Rainbow is well worth the price tag, you can't put a price on your family's health or your own health Welcome to the Rainbow Family! Btw i use to sell Rainbow!

Totally use the power nozzle for your bed. You can also blow air out of rainbow, into the mattress, and then after that, run on air purifier mode for 30 minutes. My rainbow is 33 years old and running strong! Cost, prorated over that time is @$50 per year. No bags. No filters. Just nature's cleaner and deodorizer: water!

I bought my 1st Rainbow in 1990. I then sold Rainbows for (3) yrs, as I believed/believe in the system. IF used properly, a Rainbow will last you for many decades, making the cost minimal compared to all the vacuums & cleaning tools you’d buy within the same period cause they don’t last like a Rainbow. My Rainbow was still going strong at 25yrs old but I wanted the newer model with some of the add on attachments; the Rainbow Mate especially. My 2nd Rainbow is only (8) yrs old & going strong. With pets & allergies I will never own anything else. On the rare occasions I pay to have my house cleaned, they MUST use my Rainbow & use it properly to clean with; no other vacuum is permitted to clean my home. * In this video, several of the attachments were used improperly; the lady did say she just bought it, so that’s to be expected. Learn how to use the attachments & system properly & the cost will be understood as an investment that cares for one of your greatest investments….. your home….. It well pays for itself when you add up all the cleaning tools you’d buy within the many decades but won’t have too because you own a Rainbow. ** A Rainbow holds its value. When I traded in my 25 yr old Rainbow I paid 50% less for the new one; 50% off after 25 yrs?? I’ll take that offer. Mine is 33 years old. Going strong but did have a $200 tune-up after 33 years. I get the news one for the FABULOUS quiet air purifiers feature. I always tan my rainbow an extra 30 minutes when cleaning. With the news one, I can move it from room to room each day to purify the air in near-silent lo speed. Amazing. Best thing I never bought for my home.

If you remove the four or six screws on the back of the vacuum there actually is a rather large hepa filter that does need to be replaced every year or two depending on use. It states this in the manuals and the rainbows sales people saying it has no filters need to stop lying. But otherwise it’s a fantastic vacuum that’s capable of so much and very versatile! Also don’t use the lower nozzle with the brush turned on while vacuuming hardwoods. This will wear out the bristles very fast and it causes many small particles to scatter on the floor. Instead release the trigger stopping the roller for quick pickups. Otherwise attach the actually horsehair floor and wall brush instead of the lower nozzle if you’re vacuuming hard floors. It’s also lighter and more effective than the lower nozzle on hard floor surfaces.

Hi there! Thank you for the tips. We found out AFTER purchasing that there was a HEPA filter! I was pretty mad as you said, they claim it to be "zero filters.* However when I brought it up afterwards, they said if it is maintained in the *check ups* then they rarely need to be replaced. I've always hated the horse hair brushes - I find they just push the dirt around on the floor like a broom would. Totally appreciate all of your insights though! Very helpful!

@@BrianneWalter The HEPA shouldn't have to be replaced too often if you keep the maintenance up on the water stage like frequent checking and replacement of water while vacuuming as well as maintaining the centrifugal separator (the cream coloured thing on the bottom of the motor)

They do last a few years I’d change it every two to three. But still it’s misleading. However the vacuums do a marvelous job.

You can use your Power Nozzle to suck out dirt-mites in your mattress It can suck out 30cm deep in your mattress

Timestamp 12:53 the water level should still be covering the peg when you are done. This means you didn’t change it out soon enough, so check it every 15 - 25 mins or so to make sure it’s still coveting the peg. Otherwise some of the ultra fine dust bypasses the water and goes straight up into the unit. AND DO NOT FORGET TO CLEAN THE SEPARATOR after every few uses with the included/hidden tool.

And ABSOLUTELY NEVER store your machine in the water pan! Even if the pan is dry you want any residual moisture that might have snuck it’s way out of sight to dry out.

You can totally use it for clogged tub, sink, toilet. I never did it, but you can use the exhaust mode to push a plug, or the airflow mode to pull a plug. Personally, i'd start with the low speed on SRX, and gradually increase, just so you could control the air flow and not make a mess. 😉

@@BrianneWalterdo you use a washable mattress pad and sheets? Your body does not touch the mattress. But the power nozzle gets the dust mites and their detritus out of your bedroom. That is actually a critically important job for your rainbow. I hope you reconsider. Best wishes. ☺️

I had been wanting one for 15 years and I finally bought one last year and I always did love the rainbow, because of how well it cleans EVERYTHING, from floor walls, chairs beds etc It is however, expensive, bulky and heavy and kind of hard to store. But I love mine and wouldn’t have anything else. I don’t care for the mop attachment just because it’s too large and doesn’t really clean better than the cheaper swifters.

PS I'm not telling anybody how to use the rainbows they do what they want they bought them but that brush that you're using that Steve motor-driven brush for the carpet the hard floor brush is for the hardwood floors that you're cleaning with with the motor-driven brush that's for carpeting in the hard floor attachment for hardwood floors thanks

I have one of these model since 2017 and I love my rainbow I will never ever buy another box Brand vacuum cleaner ever again because bagless filters on some of the bagless upright that a lot of people still use they clog up they don't clean as well they have that musty Dusty smell bagged vacuums the bags actually clogged and you start smelling whatever it is you vacuumed up and you have a lot of dust that blows out of the exhaust on a lot of the vacuum that we are commonly used to and the bag vacuums are better than the bagless however like I said earlier they go through issues as well but they are a lot cleaner for the environment but when I got my hands on the rainbow SRX model oh my God yes they are expensive but these purify the air like nothing you ever seen before you can vacuum your furniture your carpeting your far floors your curtains your window seals your computer keyboards your car and also does wet pickups I had a dream just yesterday that overflowed and I use my rainbow to unclog my drain so these things I would never ever go back to another box Brand vacuum cleaner ever again if you are out thereif you have never gotten your hands on a rainbow home cleaning system I don't care if you have to ask your vacuum shop do they have any used ones get your hands on a rainbow home cleaning system and it was absolutely blow your mind and I love how you can even add a eucalyptus oil you can add a peach scented oil you can add the orange scented oil they have all kind of oils you can add to the water to make it smell fresh either while your vacuuming or air-purifying you will absolutely love it no dirty filters to watch know Dusty musty bags to change you will love it no I do not work for Rex air I have this unit in my home so I'm only basing it off what I have used it on so far and it can even shampoo your carpets there is a shampooer attachment you can get to clean your carpets with it as well and they have one for your post re so this is the only cleaning machine you will ever need in your home I swear by it rainbow makes awesome products they are expensive but they do last my aunt has one that she got from Germany back in 1970 and it still works just like she got it out of the box so these last a long time if you take care of them thanks for sharing your video

i got a rainbow. It's nice, but not $3600 nice. I did the program they say you can get it for free with 12 showings, but covid messed it up, and didn't get my showings done in time. So I had to pay for the damn thing.

That's too bad that they wouldn't honour it for you after the pandemic. I was told 14 showings and 2 people had to buy.. which I think is a lot. Even 12! It's crazy. We opted out of that, and chose to just purchase it. Do you like it now that you've had it for a few years now?

yes it's well made. we have friends that have had theirs for 30 years. I just don't think I should have chanced the program to purchase it. I didn't need to spend that much on a vacuum. the shampoo attachment is very nice too.@@BrianneWalter

Rainbow only has a hepa filter to catch things that are not WATER soluable, like silica or drywall dust. Service that rainbow hepa 1x in 4 tears.

The SRX does have a filter, There's a large HEPA behind the rear cover but if you maintain the machine, it should only need to be replaced every five years, partly because of the water bath and due to the size as it's probably 10x the surface area of that of Miele or SEBO units. The Rainmate IL is not CA$300. CA$150 tops, I have one, the older version and looking at it probably to build it's only $30. It uses some pretty common off the shelf components including a small shaded-pole induction motor you may find in simple desk fans for $20. This is one of the issues I have with the way Rexair sells its systems. It's through a form of multi-level marketing (known colloquially as a "pyramid scheme") that makes more money through master distributors buying the machines from Rexair for maybe $5-700, then sells them to lower distributors which then sell them to dealers, and then the sales people of those dealers sell them to the customer at a severely marked up price and most of that markup doesn't pay much of the commission to the people selling them, it goes back to those master distros, distros and dealers. I think the systems are quite good and high-quality as I grew up with one and own two myself, purchased used, of course but not the way they are marketed. They are incredibly long-lived machines as there are previous Rainbow models (D3s and D4s) that keep going after 30 or more years and there are Rexair model Bs and Cs that are still being used from the late 1930s and 1940s. These newer models fitted with the Switched Reluctance brush-less motors (the previous E2 twin-speed models and the SRX like your model) have an expected lifespan of 50+ years. I like the Rainbow as an allergy friendly vacuum as I have seasonal allergies and it is one of the best machines for that. Some will find these cumbersome, not just for the weight, like you said but also for setup and storage and the SRX has addressed some of these issues with the gas strut tilt system and hose to machine coupling.

Change that miele filter every month, and the bag 1x per week, plus, the smallest most damaging dust and mold spores blow right out the butt of a Miele. A rainbow traps dust, dander, spores, odors in water. You dump it, its out of your home, not blowing around out of the bag. 33 year rainbow user. I dont dust, because all of it gets in the water. Wet dust dont fly. 😉
