Yeah the bike has a lot of features, seems like a great value. The only knock for me is the ride by wire throttle, I prefer the old skool cable throttle like the MT-07 has. However, these days most new bikes have a ride by wire throttle. I hope Yamaha keeps the cable throttle for the MT-07 and YZ450FX.

I'm a Suzuki and Yamaha fan because they make all their bikes in Japan. Suzuki 100%, Yamaha is larger and makes some models outside of Japan but probably 75% are. I'm looking at replacing my ancient Suzuki GS450 with a XT250. The MT07 and GSX8S are looking mighty fine though.

I think the Suzuki is an awesome bike, I currently ride a Drz400s so I love the brand already but I'd go with the MT07. I do all my own maintenance so a simpler bike with throttle by cable is big, plus 40lbs lighter!

GSX-8S in the all blacked out design looks insane. I'm not a huge fan of the blue and white colors, it looks a bit "toy-like" in those colors imo. The blacked out version is sick, and with that sweet engine and lightweight feel + suzuki reliability.. whats not to love? I own the GSX-S1000 2022 in blue and I love it, but theres no doubt this GSX-8S is superior for hooning around town. Sick bike!

Is the power delivery insane on your 1000 or is it easy to manage ? The fastest bike I've owned was a mt09 it was enough power but I hear the inline 4 1000s feel a lot smoother than the mt09. I want to get a gsxs1000 or the gt.
@k1mura92
@k1mura92 Жыл бұрын
@@clubstyleridahd4695 It depends a lot on where you are in the powerband. From 1k to 3-4k its obviously reasonably fast, but its not like a powerful twin. Once you get into the midrange, the bike feels significantly more torquey than most other inline 4s. In A-mode its possible to mess up if you're too hard on the throttle. Once you go past like 5-6k the bike just goes into warp mode and it really pulls crazy hard. But with the bikes gearing, you're already at pretty high speeds at this point, even in first. To summarize, its an inline 4 so its pretty damn well behaved. In A-mode, you probably wanna take some time getting used to the response since it spools up quickly. Since it has a really wide torque curve, its pretty much up to the rider how they wanna ride it. You can just cruise doing higher gears and it pulls nicely in all gears and at all speeds. Or you can ride it like a hooligan and just keep it in 1st and 2nd and it will power wheelie and enter warp speed in no time.

All the reviews I have watched by very competent moto journalists, the weight on the 8S is forgettable, in fact, it feels very stable and buttoned down at speed. Weight can do that for you. A flyweight machine can also feel very unstable and easily blown about on the road. Anything under 450 pounds is nothing to cry about. Cycle Cruza cries about weight more than any motorcycle rider I've ever known, by a long shot.

@@exothermal.sprocket 😭 I’m Cycle Cruza crying about this bike weighing 6 lbs more than this other bike! I agree completely about the weight. I currently ride a ‘21 Harley, Low Rider S and it weighs almost 700 lbs! I like the weight though. It helps it stay stable and planted on the highway and not get blown around or lose its bearing in a corner.
@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket Жыл бұрын
@@robbyclark6915 Supersports/superbikes are very stable at speed, so much so, they are boring below about 100 mph. I've ridden such bikes and found it remarkable at like 140 how stable and composed it felt. But, those machines are expensive and highly compromised in the sense of everyday street/road use. The GSX-8S has been reported as being very stable. It's got a longer wheelbase and a long swingarm (one of the benefits of moving away from a Vtwin, gives you swingarm pivot room). It's also nimble by what journalists have said. Here's a video you'll probably find much more informed and useful than Cruza spreadsheet talk: /watch?v=1fmlyPExCUM

My preference is for a more “raw” feeling versus rider aides. I’m all for options and it’s always neat to see new engines in the fray. Between the MT and the GSX-S, I think I’d prefer the MT. Just as a personal note, I know 270-crank P-twins are all the rage, but I’d rather go for an older SV650 or GSX-S 750 with an inline 4 when it comes to soundtrack. At any rate, I think the GSXS will be a great ride, and I’d like to try one out one day.

The 8s is the replacement for the GSXS 750. I have one of those. So comparing the two I have to say it is impressive. The ABS version I have cost $300 more than the 8s. The 8s is only a $100 increase from the base 750 with more power and all of the features. It is also lighter. My bike is 470 lbs. Mine does have traction control, but that is it. Also the 750s only came with halogen headlights in the states which are absolute trash. So in my opinion the new 8s is significantly more enticing. Not sure how the change from inline 4 to the dual v twin will compare though. That would be something to experience.

After getting actual dyno numbers and doing the math the Suzuki and Yamaha have almost identical power to weight numbers so I'd expect them to accelerate about the same. Also skeptical about the Suzuki's ability to reach that 145mph top speed. With stock gearing its power peak is in the 125-130mph range and output fades fairly quickly after that + even if ideally geared I don't think the Suzuki's 76 actual HP max would be enough to reach that kind of speed on a naked bike.

Suzuki performance specs are good, the looks are good. The question is does it loose the fun factor at 465 pounds (whatever it was you said). I would think you get used to it after 2 weeks. And a top speed of 140mph, that's not bad, even though I love to cruise easy at 60-63 but to haul ass once in awhile is nice

Its 40 lbs heavier than a MT-07. Top speed is 145 mph, 12 mph faster top speed than the MT-07. From all of the reviews I've seen it looks like a pretty good bike and wheelies like a champ. They purposely made this GSX-8S to compete with the MT-07, loaded the bottom and midrange with stout torque like the MT-07. Its a hooligan bike for sure.

Hey! Have you ever ridden before? if not, the MT-03 or the R3 is nice to start on. Of course I always recommend the Kawasaki Ninja 400 which is an awesome bike to start on as well. Whatever you do, please make sure to wear all the gear all of the time including an airbag vest. Those drovers are crazy af in FL. Similarly equipped with a quick-shifter, slipper clutch (R7 parts), and factoring in the extra $150 Yamaha charges for shipping both bikes are about equal in price so considering all the other extras you get with the Suzuki on paper it's a much better deal. Suzuki's extra 8hp (comparative dyno results) is nice but probably mostly cancelled out by the extra 40ibs it carries around. Suzuki does come with MUCH BETTER brakes though and European tests rate its handling superior to the MT07. The one major thing I've not seen from all the GSX 8S reviews is the gleeful enthusiastic rider response from the test rides. Reading between the lines I'm thinking the MT07 may still have the Suzuki beat in "fun factor". Personally I'm waiting till next year for a new bike when I can get my current favorite Honda Hornet (not for sale in US for 2023) that has already proven to be much better than the MT07 (+18hp/7ft lbs, better suspended/handling, better BRAKES, looks IMO, and a lower price) and seems to match or better the Yamaha for tester fun factor. Likely Yamaha will also be forced to upgrading the current MT07 to stay competitive so will be interested to see what they come up with to counter Honda!

The GSX 8S has 83 hp and not 81, between the GSX 8S and the MT07 there are 10 hp in favor of the Suzuki, but the horsepower is not important but it is essential to look at the engine's output. The new engine of the GSX 8S is a lot of fun on the road because it works very well at both low and medium speeds and its torque of 78 Nm already available at 6,500 rpm makes the bike very fun and always ready. I have tried both bikes and for me the GSX 8S is superior in every way. Riding the GSX 8S gives you the impression of riding a superior category bike because it has a beautiful engine that is always ready where it is really needed on the road. It is very well assembled and refined. well and is very stable thanks to its cycling heights and its very communicative front end which gives a lot of safety.

Chassis, suspension, brakes, roominess for larger riders, enough electronic doodads..... The nod goes to the Suzuki for being an adult machine with enough power to keep a person happy a long time. TBW is great for the reason it's easily programmed with an ECU flash to behave any way you want it, and future-proof for anything the manufacturer would like to incorporate later, such as IMU based ABS or TC, and a cruise control. Otherwise I'm ambivalent about it. Yamaha had some very rotten TBW on the MT-09 before the new 890cc version came out which got it fixed (action, spring tension, feel, throttle control, etc), but now Suzuki takes the lead on TFT clarity over anything Yamaha is doing with their tiny Apple-watch-like screen.

The aids are transparent. You wouldn't even know they were working for you as they are that good these days (consider the GSX-R bikes where the stuff was developed and refined). Stability and feel are going to be the biggest differences between them, over spec sheets.

I've looked at both motorcycles, the GSX-8s and the MT-07, and I've made my decision to go with the GSX. It's not because it's significantly better or anything, but as someone who stands at 6'1, I feel that the MT-07 is just a tad too small for me. On the other hand, the GSX feels like the perfect fit. The cost of the gear should never be a concer, you can't put a price on your life or wellbeing. I've always promoted gear from day one.
