GREEDY DEALERS WILL SINK THE MARKET!!!
Watch as the 2024 Tacoma sits in dealership lots, awaiting its moment to shine. Despite its undeniable appeal with its rugged features and advanced technology, it seems this iteration of the Tacoma is facing unexpected challenges in finding its place in the market. What possible reasons behind its slow sales and discuss what this means for the future of this iconic truck. Will the Tacoma reclaim its throne as a top-selling pickup, or is it time for a reevaluation of its design and marketing strategy? Watch to find out.

Yes, it’s like putting a 9.9 hp outboard motor on a boat that’s rated for 15 hp. You’re going to be flooring it more and besides, the turbo has a lot more thermal stress under the hood. It’s just not going to last like a non-turbo V6. Personally, I would love to get a small V8.

That's what I thought also....until I drove the new Ford Ranger with a 4cyl. ecoboost. 270HP. It totally shocked me how much pickup speed it had. Now you can get the V6 Ecoboost with 315HP. That is way more HP and torque than you would need unless you were trying to tow an RV thru the mountains or something.

$1400 in doc fees is outrageous. Especially when you consider that it's totally unnecessary and a cash grab by the dealership. And that's literally what the market adjustment also is. And it's not like the dealership wouldn't make money by eliminating these fees. They'd still make a profit without them. Unreal.

It's not just the markups like the $3995 on this Tacoma that people should refuse to pay, but the out of control "doc fees" that dealers are adding on to boost their profits. Luckily when you're shopping for something common like a yota (or my last one, a Silverado) there is always another dealer just down the road. I bought a leftover 2023 Honda Ridgeline brand new 3 months ago and I got 2.9% financing from Honda and they knocked $3,000 off sticker because it was last year's model and it's a great vehicle it rides good it's roomy and does everything I wanted to do for under 40K
@slothypunk

First, it is under 40k though, meaning it is about 40k for 2023 model. 2024 frontier Pro 4X is right at 42-43K with rebate and negotiation with better power and drive train and it is 2024. Secondly, it is a ridgeline, if you are wanting suv with a truck body then yes you will love ridgeline, but if you are a truck guy, Ridgeline is a fake truck TBH!

Ridgelines are for modern, yuppie-types who want to feel manly so they gravitate to a sissy-looking unibody SUV that happens to have an open bed. Even the wimpy Ford Maverick, in spite of its own unibody construction, looks more masculine.

The worst part is they will blame inflation and some people are dumb enough to fall for it. This is just flat out price gouging. I remember when a brand new base model Tacoma was 12-14k and then dealers found out that everybody wanted one so they started marking up the prices over the years. This wasn't even that long ago either. Like 12-15 years ago. There's no way in hell we've had a 500% increase in inflation over the past 15 years yet they are still using that lie because people will still fall for it. It's high time people stop buying new cars altogether for at least a few years so we can crash the market and get car prices back down to reasonable.

The bearings in the rear end went out at 90,000 miles. I pulled it at took it to be rebuilt. This is a common problem with the 2nd Gen according to the rebuilder. He made the comment first, "I bet it has 90,000 on it." The front diff had one shard of metal in it. Pulling it out this summer to get rebuilt before the winter snow. I rarely 4x4 this thing. I'm retired and have a 6 mile section of road that is ice in the winter. Drive it in 4x4 for 12 miles mabe once a week. The rear and front differential are undersized. $2000,00 for upper and lower control arms who's bushing suck. Then add the labor cost. The engine, Transmission and electrical system are solid. But at that price and the price for parts, you're better off with a 2000 Chevy or GMC. EPA and the Tariff screwed the Japanese small truck.

Time was when the main reason people bought pickup trucks was because they were inexpensive transportation. Two doors, a bench seat and a bed in the back for hauling things. Now nearly every pickup out there is a crew cab, with all sorts of luxury items and nanny features that add on to the price. I guess a lot of people have a lot of money to piss away, judging by how many of these $50K and up pickups I see on the road. It's up to everyone to decide what to do with their own money, but personally I refuse to buy anything with a dealer markup on it. I think we'd all be better off following the example of billionaire Warren Buffett, who drives a 10 year old Cadillac. He's got enough money to be able to drive whatever he wants, yet he's smart enough not to waste a lot of money on a depreciating asset. It's always the people who don't really have a lot of money but want to present an image to their friends and neighbors that go out and buy ridiculously overpriced vehicles.

Turbo charged motors are not reliable long-term and 300k reliability and high resale value are one of the main selling points of Toyota. Also, who wants turbo-lag on a truck? Turbos are no good for low RPM work, like offroading and tow/hauling (basically all the stuff trucks are meant to do.)

@@tylermacconnell217 B/c of nearly unobtainable emission/efficiency standards for small trucks/SUVs as set forth by the US gubment via the EPA. The Toyota Hilux GR Sport and the Toyota Prado still get the 4.0 6cyl all around the world...

Loved my 1967 chevy CST that had a 327 in it. Co8l over suspension, factory bucket seats and then a set of radial truck tires and it rode like a dream. Bought it used in 1986 for $1300 and drove it for 10 more years. Just a nice truck.

That's why I just restored my 2004 GMC 2500hd 4WD 6ltr with 75k mi for $20k Frame replaced. It might seem to be a lot, but not really. Tommy gate; ❄️ plow; lifting crane; class 3 hitch & camper attech bars, ➕️ a few other things.

I paid eight grand for a ten year old Silverado in 2013 that had 85K miles on it. Now it's a piece of rusted junk with a leaking gas line the dealer wanted $4,600 to fix. They offered me $100 for it on a trade in for an identical truck they were selling for $43 grand. I walked out.

February 2023 I picked up my brand new 2023 TRD Off Road Taco.....ZERO regrets picking up the last of the best Tacomas. I'll have it for a minimum of 15 years.

Isn’t a ZR2 52k? And they want 50k for an SR5?

Yep, technically a ZR2 can be as low as $48k if you get no options. Awesome truck too, this one is worth $30k going for $50k.

Aside from the price, I’d never trust the reliability of a turbo 4 cylinder. I’ll keep my v6 2023 off road 4x4.

It depends on who built it, and how hard you're planning on driving it.

I bought my basic Tacoma new in 2001 for $18,000 out the door. Man, these prices are crazy. I thought the market adjustments were over by now. Guess not. What keeps me from buying a new Tacoma (besides price) is that the new ones are larger in size and get less gas mileage than mine.

Would not take my vehicle to Priority Toyota. When my truck was in for body repair, Priority Toyota used my truck to make a parts run and wreck my truck. I only found out about it when I noticed my dash was damaged. without informing me of the damage, I learned they had to replace the right headlight, the bumper guard, and right fender. Later, I needed some recall repairs to the front end work completed on my truck. I was told the truck was ready to pick up. As I was driving away, my truck was all over the road. The mechanic forgot to tighten the nut on the ball joint and never replaced the left side ball joint. The last event happen when I discussed having the bearings in my rear axles press out and replaced. The service agent said no problem and we set a date to have the work done. On my appointed day, the service agent I spoke to was off. The attending agent refuse to work altogether. Somehow, the service manager got involved and without allowing me to a word, screamed at me that he refuses to work on my tundra. Well, he will never have to worry about servicing me truck ever again.

Crazy, I paid $54k (out the door) in 2022 for my 4runner limited w/full time 4wheel dr. ALL the options except the extra seating in the 3rd row. WOW. AND a v6. Guess I'm driving it until the wheels fall off.
