Almost five years after its current iteration debuted, the 2025 Renault Captur city SUV has been given a makeover in preparation for its January-March 2019 showroom launch in Australia. With updated safety features, upgraded interior technologies, fresh wheel designs, color options, and a revamped front fascia, Renault's smallest SUV is now available in Australia. We expect arrivals from Australia to begin in the first quarter of 2025. While information on the local Captur model range is still in the works, four different variants of the current model are available, all featuring a non-hybrid 1.3-liter turbo-4-cylinder engine. Gilles Vidal, Renault's chief designer since 2020 (he was at Peugeot for ten years before joining the company), gave the Captur a makeover that brings it up to speed with Renault's newest offerings, like the Scenic and Megane electric cars, while still paying homage to Peugeot with subtle headlight design cues. The revamp includes new clear tail-light housings, a revised rear bumper, alloy wheels that are 17 or 18 inches in diameter, and there may be a Esprit Alpine variant with a different front bumper, black highlights, and unique wheels that are 19 inches in diameter. An upgraded 10.4-inch portrait infotainment touchscreen (up from 9.3 inches) is housed inside the Captur, along with integrated Google apps such as Maps and Renault's latest Android-based OpenR Link software. This software supports both wireless and cable Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Captur is available in a range of engine options depending on the market. An optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox complements the 1.3-liter turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine's 113kW/270Nm in the Australian market. A 1.0-liter turbo three-cylinder engine is offered in foreign markets, along with a 1.0-liter petrol and LPG dual-fuel engine, and mild hybrid versions with outputs of 66kW/160Nm, 103kW/260Nm, and 118kW/270Nm, respectively. Among these, the hybrid stands out as the most intriguing option, thanks to its 107kW overall power output (a result of a 69kW 1.6-liter gasoline engine, 36kW electric motor, 18kW "high-voltage starter generator" electric motor, and a 1.2kWh battery).
