I have a Lilja barrel on my custom build and its an absolute tack driver having shot a national record and 2 state records and it prefers Lapua to eley but yours is doing well with both. Mine seems to have improved over the last 18 months from new but it was exceptional out of the box. I enjoyed your clip. Nice shooting making the gear look great.

If the speed is down it can normaly only be one of two things. Either the bore is two wide and you are getting gas slip, it can't be that because the grouping is too good. Or the bore is tight and it's slowing the rounds down. To test for this slug the barrel, take .22 projectile and push it through the barrel. And then measure it with a set of calipers.

matching bullet speed to match your barrel is critical for accuracy, plus weighting your ammo. What batch number is the Eley match. cheers

Bore size. I have the Lilja tight bore. Its 0.0015 smaller bore than the standard bore. My barrel is 26" and velocity is 50 fps slower than the box stated velocity.

That SD of 24... was the first shot the low one? Cold bore, clean bore, lots of possibilities. If it's a clean bore, my bore takes like 30 shots to fully speed up.

I have not seen a cold bore out of this gun. Surprised because Lilja is notorious for cold bore shots

So which shoots better, Vudoo or CZ? I have a Vudoo and CZ 455 as well, my CZ has A Walther barrel, both shoot well with SK yellow box, think they both shoot equally well. My Anschutz 2013 shoots better than both

The CZ shoots just as good as the vudoo out to 100 yards. After that the Vudoo pulls away

What were the atmospheric conditions that you shot both in? A cold dense day vs. hot humid makes a difference. The BC of a .22lr is not that good so atmospheric conditions will have an effect on FPS. A good Kestrel and a weather reporting app that can give density altitude is good to use while testing and logging the effects on equipment. Just my two cents.

@@RedNeck_Rimfire you have a great shooter for sure. I do wish lilja would offer to cut the tenon to size even if you had to pay extra. Mine wasn’t to bad but could have been a few thousands tighter. But it ended up being a shooter also. Some of the gunsmiths in my area are using the 457 receiver and threading a name brand barrel on it and making tack drivers, Thats why I asked.

Surely the barrel is too long and the pressure behind the bullet is dropping rapidly towards the end? Maybe a slightly shorter barrel would restore the velocity?

Yes. They now make the 23inch. I have seen no cold bore out of mine

@utahpaperpuncher59 I also just ordered a 23”. The drop down options as of yesterday still only offer 18 and 21, but the notes say up to 23. I placed the order then followed up with a email listing my order number and asked if they could make it 23” finished length. Angie answered the next morning during business hours and said they could do it. She updated my order and sent me a new invoice with no additional charge. Sample size of one but any time I have emailed with questions they are very friendly and respond quickly.

Long range. Stock barrel hammers out to 100-150 yards. Lilja shoots great out to 300
