Thank you again for another Great video. Its so nice to see a review like this done so well. I get really sick and tired of KZfaqrs who use KZfaq vocabulary and do reviews of products that they don't have a clue about. Yours knowledge level is at the high end, and your explanations are excellent. Wow, I did not expect the filters to get hot like that. Those coils need to be replaced for starters. Do you suggest a lower power transmitter with a cleaner amplifier? Keep up the good work.

@spectra-man 3 жыл бұрын
So you probably saw me on TI :) At some point I will get a LimeSDR mini and I will attempt to use it to send data at high speed on VHF low band. Nobody ever sends data fast at ~70 MHz, but this is an optimal band for coverage and more reliable than HF. I will use QAM64. I want to make it so you can send an ethernet connection directly through the radio and send at about 1MB/s. It may be possible with GNU radio to accomplish this. It would be excellent for sending fast internet to rural areas with a very large coverage and the TV band is empty now. Probably not legal in the US, but maybe elsewhere.

I know it's been a long time. I don't do much radio stuff currently, but I may begin again sometime. To try to answer the question: You said SWR is okay, is that measured on the TX or another meter? Cause maybe the TX is giving wrong readings. The other possibility is that it's outputting spurs that are far off the antenna resonant frequency. Either way, you must have just gotten unlucky.

For me it was a case of changing the power supply - went from the brick laptop type supply to one of those alluminium ones with the little screw on it to adjust power. Honestly, I simply LOVE what you're doing with your channel!!!! 1million % However, your "scientific" method is severely flawed in many ways. Thankfully, everything you need to learn regarding RF Engineering can be easily found for free across many sources on the WWW. Please know that my comment comes with the most sincerest of thanks for your tenacity & unwaivering efforts. (That comes from a classically trained RF engineer whom was caught doing "the naughty" early on in his career & almost served considerable time for it.) Thought: have you tried texting spectral emissions of these devices whilst under considerable level of modulation (and wide modulated bandwidth like SCA etc.)?? Or whilst trying to reproduce material well below 30hz? Or above 70khz proper?? I'm sure it'd be interesting to see the behavior of these "cram everything into a single die" chips. ANYWAY, CHEERS!
@kenzingzong6704
@kenzingzong6704 3 жыл бұрын
This is a great comment and I doubt the OP will have issue. I wondered about the same with my devices I designed. It really does help to inject audio and see how the test transmitter carries the information over. Lots of flaws can be detected easily with AM using basic tools like oscilloscopes and such, but FM is still a different ballpark. There is always the chance that odd bits of audio cause deviation artifacts because of odd artifacts in PCB design or even RF output components and filteriing. I'm not even sure how to test some of this stuff. I just know that FM carries with it its own beast of gremlins to diagnose before something hits design phase, even if that means a home radio station. Now aside from that, I really want all people to build a simple FM bug for fun. Maybe some of them will bite and realize what it can do if they have the right stuff ;) Pirate radio is fun, don't let them dictate what you can and can not do if you know more then them. We are free. Free Radio.
@spectra-man
@spectra-man 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have tested the spectrum while modulating, but I didn't make a video on it because of music copyright and I need a high quality FM receiver to use with 3.5mm connector to record from; I want people to hear what they are seeing in the analyzer. The best one I have is an old AM stereo walkman. Please recommend to me a super HiFi FM receiver that's not crazy expensive. They all seem to use all in one chips these days. In terms of the spectrum while modulating: It's not ideal on this transmitter, but not too bad. Generally, it stays under 75khz, but occasionally I see peaks up to 85 - 95khz. When using an audio processor, this is improved though. If you set it low enough that it never exceeds 75, then it's a little bit more quiet than other stations, but I can get it to be the same if it pops up to 85 every now and again. I'm currently working on another video where I demonstrate a cheap high quality optimod. I will test it with this transmitter and then later test it with a real pro transmitter. It's nice to have it good, just for the sake of goodness LOL, but I've come to find that the spectral requirements for transmitters are way too strict. -45dBc doesn't have much real world effect. The noise is 32 thousand times lower meaning it's only 2mW at the worst.
@spectra-man
@spectra-man 3 жыл бұрын
@@kenzingzong6704 It's interesting how even a small homemade FM bug will have less noise than one of these TX chips. I know why though. What I don't understand is why the Chinese don't use an integrated VCO chip. Yeah, it wouldn't have stereo, but would otherwise be way more pure. I don't even think it would really cost more. Yes, more components, but the descrete components are very cheap, so overall, I'm not sure they are actually saving money by using these chips. Not one cheaper Chinese transmitter has a real VCO or even an IC module that's a VCO. It's a shame, but it does keep people like PCS in business.

Only mormons Pull 10A truh Crokodile leads.. it's not rated to that Not even 2.5A.. And UHF is 3000MHz so It's not unusual you get way way more power On low band then on top band ..

Sorry for the late response, it's not my main account. I am NOT using crokodile clips to power this. It looks like I am because I have some hooked up for something else. Please watch and you will see the two thicker black wires coming down from under the clips on the power supply. It's directly wired to power supply. I do agree however, that even this is maybe not good enough cause it's using the standard barrel connector on the transmitter which isn't meant to handle this much, but that's what the Chinese put in there, so I used it cause I thought that's how most people would use it.

Might be a good idea, but will need to supply 26 + 12V and separate the voltage. I really like the AFT05MP075N. It's the best 12V mosfet, but it won't fit in this amplifier. Somebody should make a new design with that one. 65:1 SWR tolerance.
