Just traded my 23 450 in. Cluster had to be replaced ,exhaust going in the cab when heater would be on , trans has a delay before it would go in to gear. Great fuel mileage ,comfortable ,exhaust brake worked way better but Ford has to do a little quality control before these trucks go out the door.

That's sad...my 2001 7.tree f2shity has 870 thousand miles..burns no oil with no blowby...still stroking...13 letter shitspreader INTERNATIONAL best diesel ever made

Except 1 quart in 4000 miles is not "burning oil". Ford, nor GM, nor Ram, or Toyota will attempt repairs on a vehicle presented that is not leaking oil and the perceived problem is a quart in 4000 miles use.

FYI I’m on my 3rd oil change on my HO 23 and I know the manual states 15qt but when I put 15qt and wait 1hr it’s at the level in the video,bottom of the stick. last oil change did 16qt and the level was full on the dipstick and was full when I changed it yesterday.

my 22 f450 used oil up to 30k miles then it completely stopped. its just breaking in, and people find every chance to panic

They have a pretty long break-in process

DS, I can’t help think you’re worrying yourself into a problem. Maybe, being too careful delays the break-in. For the rest of us superduty fans who can’t always have the latest and the greatest, why get a HO? Great if did really need an HO. All the old timers say as a general rule, lower output versions of the same engine last longer. Ford detuned the durable 6.2 in many commercial work trucks. If I traded up, I would have gone with the standard 6.7. For my needs, I’ve been very happy with my Gen2 2019 6.7.

If there’s no excessive blow by it’s all good. Working the snot out of a new engine. Excessive idle time, CGI Block and hard as hell rings for longevity don’t help in the break in period. Ford allows 1 qt every 3k miles. You have to take in customer driving habits also. I can influence oil consumption.

First mistake is Motorcraft oil Motorcraft uses recycled oil which means that it dont have the same detergents as a good quality oil......use a good quality oil say rotella or amsoil and u will be fine

Your wrong . Recycled oil or new oil , when the manufacturer adds the add pack it's the same amount to reach the oil specs needed . I love amsoil and never use Motorcraft oil but your statement is false .

15 quarts and that looks a quart short. You should not be consuming a quart in 4000 miles. Check CCV and turbo.

I do know since the steel pistons these trucks run lower tension rings but I have not heard anything about oil consumption on them.

Doing some reading but there is 3 levels on the dipstick. Add, operable low, operable high and high. Also, seeing a lot of 6.7 owners adding 15 quarts and checking in the morning only to find they are approximately 3/4-1 quart low from the operable high range. Just figured I’d pass that along. Also subbed….can’t believe I didn’t 2 years ago 🤦‍♂️

Where do you get the idea that 1 quart in 4000 is a problem? Don't ever set foot in any Cat, Detroit, Cummins, MAN, Scania, Mercedes, Volvo, or Hino powered class 6 or above truck and expect 0 oil usage. If the valve stems, cylinder walls, and turbo seals do not get some lube oil wasted bybthem then those parts will wear and fail. Oil lost=combustion residue gained is an engine that "uses no oil". The darkening color of the oil in use after an oil change is the increasing waste from combustion residue wiped by rings. There is also some gain on many diesel engines (Cummins 6.7, Ford 6.7) throughbthe DPF regeneration process fueling exhaust temp gain through fuel injection during off cycle. Some of that fuel on cylinder wall is wiped by rings into crankcase.
