@@fallontaylor I just meant in comparison to many people who don’t allow that for their horses… or they only get dry lot turn out (even when there is pasture). I understand that certain horses with injuries can’t always be turned out. Also horses who are insulin resistant and super founder prone, need much care for when and how long they can eat grass, if at all, however, many are still are not figuring out the actual cause of the insulin resistance. Taking away pasture grazing for horses, in my mind, is taking away LIFE, to a horse. So is no turn out with at least one other horse which only exacerbates the insulin resistance via increased cortisol. They are grazers. And social herd animals and need to be able to push and move as a herd which creates movement and exercise. Having to isolate and dry lot them and put them on Prascend for life is so sad to me and very detrimental to physical and emotional health. So is feeding at meal time only, and horses being without forage for hours while stalled or in dry lot or overgrazed pasture. Cortisol increases potential for bad stall habits like cribbing and chewing wood, pacing, and sour attitudes. Cortisol up means insulin resistance. Fallon, from what I have seen, you are doing incredibly well for your horses, and being an important and needed influence on the industry.
