Tobe Technologies is working in the development of a new device to control Varroa mite infestation. I made a couple of videos in the past. Take a look and let me know what do you think.

This could really be a great tool. We were only discussing last night on different ways to treat the bee's, and using the correct amount when it's needed is perfect.

I have seen this device. Looking forward to the live. I heard, as of now, they are only looking to sell to commercial beekeepers. I hope that changes as the hobbyist make up a vast majority of the industry.

It does look like a good idea but only to commercials seems a mistake. If the device were to be only $10 than it would cost a guy with 1000 hives $10,000. And he would still have to buy the treatment insert.

It would be wonderful to get more information. My interest area - is the device able to have the pulsing programmable for different countries and their varying temperature, humidity and climatic regions to optimise outcomes while continuing to get the amazing results with low chemical quantities. Australian beekeepers are currently in shock as we deal with our new reality.

Due to life I missed the live feed. So a few items I have came up with on design. 2 Major issues I see is you are blocking a good portion of your hive entrance. What if it was designes to sit in the Varroa Mite capture sheet at the bottom of the hive instead? The second issue I see is the placement of the solar charging unit. As it is attached to the device if for any reason your hive is not getting direct sunlight it of course will not charge. Not all hives can be placed for 100% optimum sun exposure. Not to mention hives inside a secondary enclosed system such as a shed or bee house. For this I suggest the panel be detached and connected instead via cable and plug with at least a 1 to 1.5 meter long cable for this. In this way the bee keeper can move and adjust the solar charging unit for optimum sunlight exposure even if the hive itself is not positions for this. This would also allow for the charging unit to be easily repositioned at various times of the season to allow for optimum sunlight exposure as well. Lastly as I saw mentioned as well if the device is housed under the hive in the mite collection tray area it would also keep the bees from building any wax or propulas over it removing the need for cleaning. I am really eager to give this a try once it is available in Germany. However the current design would not be really usable for the hives I have.

Myself and my bees are in central Minnesota - Hardiness Zone 3b/4a. We use three deeps to get the bees through the winter. Can this device work in such a voluminous and cavernous area of space? Thank you.

Low dose pesticide application is perfect for breeding super pests. As an entomologist you should know that. But you also know that most beekeepers are ignorant about anything but honeybee farming. Get that money before this gimmick fades away like all the others.
