Justin, I am glad you have mentioned Quinn in a previous video and also doyole I am a maintenance manager at a flying J truck stop and I started out as a drive train tech in a Nissan & Kia dealership until 32 years old. The dealership went through a large buyout and at least 12 of us just in the Kia parts and service were not hired back, what I am getting to is I have had to go from mac & snap-on to doyole and Quinn and Mastercraft at menards, because a truck stop people see something it's gone, especially snap-on even my menards stuff has been getting stolen lately but Quinn and doyole very affordable and they are everyday quality hand tools. HAND TOOLS cordless tools are still you get what you pay for still looking for affordable and long lasting

GearWrench and SB&D are as listed above mostly Taiwan which are making very quality tools for sure and I would add Tekton with a mix of Taiwan and US made with a smaller number of china thrown in all a good value that you won't go brake on. Vessel made in Japan are probably the best on the market and are not pricey either.

Do some more research, stanley b&d Craftsman makes most of the tools in Taiwan, china, france, and the USA. Unfortunately, the texas Craftsman plant failed, so no more usa made sockets and wrenches. Gear wrench has cheapened the line and moved almost all to china 😅, typical for the apex tool group. Also, manufacturers aren't changing fasteners as quickly as you say. They almost all moved to the universal ISO standard the US/world has made. Before around the 2000s, they had multiple standars, most notably usa iso, Japanese iso and german iso. But overall, your message is great, 100% agree, new techs should not me spending all their paychecks on expensive tools or i want items. First and foremost, training, better skills, and quality work. Luckily, you can buy cheap quality tools from everywhere now, including china. Only countries that suck are india and vietnam. The best budget ones are Japan, taiwan. I exclusively use snapon and proto at work, but you dont need that, and anyone that tell ya you can't survive without them is lying.

I did a video on the BS line that people say "Well, the Snap On is an investment that won't go down in value" - that's the worst way to think about it. There are very-few differences in truck tools that are worth it. Buy a second of tools you're likely to break and you're still well-ahead. Stuff some of the money you would have spent on the Snap On into an IRA and get the tool from Taiwan. The Snap On tools won't keep you warm at night when it's time to put the tools down. The IRA will. It'll feed you too. Even $50 or $100 a month starting at a young age adds up to a lot of money when it's time to retire.

16 years wrenching and I hardly buy tools anymore because I already bought everything I need to do about anything I’ll be asked to do. Most of my tools are off the trucks and they are kept in a Matco 6s toolbox. Last weekend, I brought tools home to replace my window regulator but I didn’t foresee that I would need slip joint pliers like my Knipex Cobra pliers. So I went to Harbor Freight to buy their Knipex knockoff pliers. They worked - with some difficulty (clearance issues in a tight door panel) - but that showed why the high end tools are superior for professionals and worth the money. The Knipex design is slimmer and would have been much easier in my door panel to grip what I needed to grip. I am a tool whore and I take care of my things and very rarely lose a tool so I have little concern about buying tool truck tools because they have withstood the test of time and make my work quicker and easier to help me keep food on the table, a roof over my head and some fun for the family.

Except if you’ve ever purchased a Liesle Product from MATCO, Snap-On, Mac, Cornwell, or an independent truck… then you have purchased tools that you could’ve purchased from O’Reillys for a fraction of the cost.
