Thanks so much for the updated review, I wish more reviewers did these. Characteristics of shoes change over time. Most runners are putting in enough miles, they need to know how a shoe is going to feel over the long haul, not how it feels after the first few runs.

I'm just in 50 miles running w/ Rebel v4, w/ this and my previous trainer Novablast 3, I'll say that the Asics were more forgiving when it comes to your legs strength, what I like about the Rebel is its strengthening your legs while running because of its characteristics

Hi guys, thank you for your lovely review and your help with all new shoes coming on the market every month. I personally bought my pair of rebel v4, try them for a 10k session and sent back to New Balance. Unfortunately I was sincerely disappointed, the shoes are very soft but not more responsive as the rebel family ex. rebel v3 which on every step literally push your feet to the next, very exiting sensation. The v4 are comfortable, light but for me not exiting at all, not energy return at all and because so flexible and soft I feel the v4 also unstable. They are good for easy/long run maybe, anyway not for me. Thanks

My opinions, and the shoes themselves, often change beyond 20-30 miles. I think that is an important component when recommending a shoe to those of us who want to get 400+ miles on a shoe in order to justify the cost.

It's a 80/20 EVA/PEBA blend, so that makes sense. Too bad that they couldn't have equally split the ratio, but then maybe that might have caused stability issues that some people experienced in the Rebel V2 with an even smaller stack.

I always tempted to try another fuelcell shoes. Problem is that the last fuelcell shoes I bought (propel v1 and rebel v1) felt dead after around 320k (200ish miles). It is as if brands take advantage of most top reviewers only test shoes up to 100 miles. SJD only to 50 miles, BITR around 20-30 miles, kofuzi 100 miles, etc. Some reviewers do take shoes up to 200 or 300 miles, but not many, and of course if they test all their shoes up to this point, they won't keep up with the new shoes that keeps coming out the whole year. Then, durability issues after the 100mile point is rarely mentioned. Most reviewers also based their durability prediction to the outsole of the shoes, which sometimes misleading. I mean, unless the rubber is very thin or very soft blown rubber, most outsoles will last more than 300 miles. Even if they got scuffed, it will mostly be cosmetic and doesn't effect the shoes performance that much. For me, durability is more on how long the midsole keeps its characteristics, which is, understandably, more difficult to assess. Based on Thomas' review here, I'd figure the rebel v4 will stay good for around 200 miles. After that you can still run in it, but nothing special. Personally, I like my shoes to stay good for at least 300miles/500km. For daily trainer, should be longer. 600km would be nice. For shoes like the Rebel v4, Hoka Rincon, etc, most probably I will only buy them after heavily discounted. Not in full price, because I won't enjoy them as long as other shoes anyway..

I chose the Mach 6 over these when I went into my running store and tried both. It’s been a good while since I loved a Hoka this much but they fit me better (my foot is medium/narrow) and I got a much better lockdown on the Mach. They’re nicely cushioned and fun. Not as wild as the Rebel4 but I’m getting the impression they will last much longer so glad I made that choice. The Rebels seem very baggy on my forefeet, too.

The Mach wasn’t out when I got the Rebels but Subsequently tried them though and they seem pretty nice, either those or the New Speed when I’m done with the rebel. Good take on the Rebel platform being really wide (especially vs previous iterations) workable with a runners knot, but far from ideal.

With the V3 on sale right now for only $50 each (for a pair) at Joe's, it's a no-brainer of an alternative to the V4, which is nowhere near 3X better than the V3 and will likely be liquidated this time next yr. I tend to wait for hype to die down and they go on sale, since being late to the party while I enjoy what I own drastically reduces the impact on my bank account. Keeping up with the Jones' (e.g., YT reviewers) is a money pit for those of us who aren't subsidized. Kudos to the relatively few reviewers, e.g., Hes Kicks, for making a point of reporting good deals when they drop.
