This review helped, yes. The fact that HF made a commitment to quality has really made a difference. I bought some tools back in the 90s, and one of the wrenches snapped on me, and almost hit me. I swore to never buy anything from them again. But now, I just bought a few of these Bauer power tools--they're good, and the HF store is now quite filled with quality stuff everywhere. Thanks for the review, I went with the brushless all around, impact drill etc..

I would prefer it more if HF would expand their Hercules line more, especially with more brushless tools. HF seems to be more focused on Bauer, maybe going after Ryobi or Craftsman, but they seem to be less focused on Hercules. I'm mean HF has released a few new brushless Hercules tools over the last couple of years, but what about a brushless hammer drill, brushless impact driver, and how about a cordless brushless oscillating multitool? These are the basic core tools that pretty much everyone else already has a brushless version of already, including Bauer. HF is killing it with Bauer with a huge line of tools, but come on HF give Hercules some love. If HF wants something to seriously compete with DeWalt, then they need to bring more brushless Hercules tools to the market.

I had the 5amh battery with a weedeater (more of a weed grinder. Let it swipe at some grass long enough and it would fall) The battery lasted one season and one cut this season then it wouldn't charge. Turned me off from Bauer cordless all in all. Just bought the corded recip, never used one before but it does what I needed it to do.

Are you technically inclined at all? If so, you could always tear down the battery by taking the case apart and check each of the cells to determine which cells are bad and use a soldering iron to take out and replace the dead cells with new ones. Pretty sure they are 18650 cells. Some manufacturers use 21700 cells but I think the Bauer’s are 18650’s same as in most vapes.

2 questions: does Bauer have plans on co6out with a drywall screwgun? And does that palm router double as a drywall cut out tool? A lot of guys in the trade have been using carpenter routers for drywall for there better preference.
@adamchristopher2086
@adamchristopher2086 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t see why you couldn’t use the router as a cutout tool. Same concept as long as you used a flush cut bit with 0° bevel and a roller bushing on the end of it. I’ve seen guys do that to speed up sheathing with OSB to cut the window boxes out. Rather than measure them out just sheath over them then use the router and aforementioned bit to cut them back out using the inside framing of the window box as a guide.

I have both brushed and brushless cordless drills and 1/4" impact drivers (no Bauer brand) and, given an equal battery, I've never noticed much difference between them. I've definitely noticed a difference between brushed and brushless grinders and saws though, brushless, as you've said for quite a while, is the way to go with them. Now for a question...Do you or any of the viewers know of ANY brand that produces a cordless hammer? I'm not looking for a hammer drill or rotary hammer, I'm looking for something similar to a hand held pneumatic hammer that uses either .401 or .498 shank chisels etc. that could be used for automotive projects. I'm not fully locked into any platform at the moment. It's a mix of DeWalt and Milwaukee. They are starting to wear out. My only issue is I need more Mechanic tools. So the Hercules brand would suit me more. I need to figure it out soon because I plan on blowing a ton of money here in a couple months as soon as i find a new house to buy. But more than likely i may have to stick with Milwaukee due to the sheer amount of compatible tools.

Milwaukee definitely has several markets cornered with both their M12 and M18 line both auto/diesel techs, tire repair guys, carpenters, electricians, framers, it’s never ending it seems. However for me personally, I think the Bauer line offers more futility than Hercules myself and save a few bucks more in the process. They have a cordless grease gun in both lines and Bauer is coming out with a cordless ratchet which appears 3/8” drive. They also offer the outdoor power equipment line such as blowers and hedge trimmers if you ever needed that. Hercules doesn’t. I’m in Dewalt, Bauer(most), Bosch, and Ridgid. I’m most likely going to be buying more Ridgid in the future though with them expanding that line and the lifetime warranty and similarly priced with Bauer when on sale. Home Depot is clearancing out a bunch of brushless Ridgid stuff right now for the release of all the new 2022 pipeline of Ridgid tools.

HF sells the tool at a discounted price and then offers you the warranty as an option. Every other brand inflates the price to cover the warranty and doesn't even give you a choice. If you need warranty service on other tools you often have to send it in and wait weeks to get it back and that is IF they decide it wasn't your fault. At HF you take the tool in and they give you a new one, you are in and out in under 5 min. What is you definition of "legitimate"?

@@adamchristopher2086 There are multiple accounts of Rigid not honoring their LSA, and blaming the customer for abuse. Also, LSA means Service not replacement. More importantly, not all of their power tools get the LSA. I registerd a table saw and a worm drive circ saw about a month apart last year. When the processes finalized the table saw got the LSA, but the circ saw got a 3 year limited warranty. Buyer beware, and closely check the box for the warranty information. HF will straight up give you a new tool right in the store if you get their warranty for any of their lineups, and not just Bauer. However, if you don't buy the warranty you're SOL. I bought a corded Bauer drywall screwgun without a warranty. Figured it would last through my home remodeling, so didn't expect to need it. The setter chuck fell apart after completing 1 room. That pretty much turned me away from Bauer. In the end, I went with the Metabo HPT lineup for cordless tools. They have a lifetime warranty, and there happens to be a service center not far from me.
@denoftools
@denoftools 2 жыл бұрын
@@adamchristopher2086 When I first started this channel I was invested in the Ridgid line. I was contacted by several vewiers who told me their stories of Ridgid refusing to honor the LSA but I was sceptical so I tested it. Ridgid bent over backwards to avoid warranting a tool! That made me look into it some more and sure enough there are tons of stories out there of Ridgid screwing over users. There is a reason it's not called a Lifetime Warranty but instead a "Lifetime Service Agreement". Most states have legal definitions of what a warranty is, but an agreement can be anything the company wants it to be. Check out my video, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly of Ridgid for the full story. Also Ridgid has a much smaller tool line compared to most other brands including Bauer. As far as comparisons you need to consider price in there as well. All the brands you listed are much more expensive than Bauer. Bauer is targeted at DIY level users and prices as such. It is more on par with Ryobi as far as quality.

IF THE KIT IS LOW ENOUGH FOLKS AND U WANT TO GET INTO BAUER GO AHEAD LIKE ME ANS GET THE KIT SO UR GETTING A BATT AND CHARGER!! U WILL PAY MORE FOR THEM SEP!!! THEN UGET ALL 3 FOR IN THIS KIT!! THEN UPGRADE UR DRILLS AND LIKE ME BEGIN WITH THE OPPOSITE DRILL! IF U GET THE DD KIT THEN GET THE IMPACT!? OR THE BATT W FREE TOOL!? AND GET UR IMPACT AND OTHER BATT THAT WAY!!?? THEN U CAN ALWAYS ADD MORE NEW TOOLS!!! AND U CAN ALWAYS UPGRADE THAT DRILL U GOT IN THE KIT LATER ON TO THE NEW ONE!! DOING THINGS THIS WAY GIVES U MORE BANG FOR UR BUCK AND ALLOWS U TO GET STARTED!! AND AT LOW LOW PRICES!! THEN WATCH FOR COUPONS AND SPECIAL SALES AND ADD ON WHEN U GET GREAT DEALS ON 1 OR THE OTHER!!?? ANYWAYS I JUST GOT THE OLD BRISHED DD KIT FOR 46 AND I GOT A 2 YR WAR THING WITH IT!! SO I CANT LOSE!? How about a ryobi-bauer-hercules face off?

Hercules still doesn't have a full lineup. No brushless drill or impact. And when they do come out I don't think price wise it would compete with Ryobi.

@@denoftools if Hercules is the better brand. Why is HF putting so much into bauer?
@denoftools
@denoftools 2 жыл бұрын
@@KLartrandM Because Bauer was an instant hit with huge demand. They had planned to have Herc fully up to speed by now but the pandemic really throttled what they could do.

Are the batteries used in the brushless and brushed versions interchangeable? If not, and they are showing that old brushed version of the drill the door, you'd best stock up on extra batteries if you already have or get one. One of Harbor Freight's less delightful proclivities is their complete lack of support for their discontinued power tools. It's shameful really that they don't support their legacy wares better...or even at all. Where the hell are my DrillMaster 18V batteries and chargers?! You mean to tell me they can't have a batch of them made up now and then? Even if they only sold them through the website it would still be better than NOTHING.

As you can see in the video I ran the new batteries on the older drill.

@@denoftools Oh, I see now. Good! I don't have any of their Bauer stuff yet, so am not familiar with what's what there. But I still wish they'd churn out a few latter-day 18V DrillMaster batteries...Hell, also the old 18V post-style ones for their ancient "Blue Series" gear, which I still have. I still think the little cordless sander from that series' old drill-jigsaw-sander-light kit using those triangular hook-and-loop sanding pads was the handiest detail sander for furniture and cabinetry refinishing I've ever used. Easily half of the oaky stuff in our hovel has seen that sander. I managed to find an adapter to use the later style DrillMaster batteries on it, but it kind of throws off the nice balance--and now they're seemingly a thing of the past too. Shame really.
