For me it's a perfect EDC knife. Full flat high-ish grind, super thin, hole instead of thumbstuds - makes it a perfect slicer. Hole doesn't prevent you flicking it like a pro. After a week or two I could flick it both with thumb and a middle finger with both hands 19 of 20 times. Also, a point worth mentioning - it comes with rather high edge angle. I'd say it is unreasonably high. Perhaps they made this to let you decide which angle you want to sharpen it to. So in order to make it slice as it should you should resharpen it to a much lower angle. I also replaced original washers with after-market larger ones. And I adjust the screw rather thorughly to have almost none blade play and good flick - it can be done. I also replaced omega springs with stronger ones from Amazon - it completely eliminates vertical blade play, which I had with original springs on both Tagged and Bug Outs.

This was so helpful guys! I love the Out series for the slicey blades that hold up super well for work. I'm trying to decide on which version. The higher flat grind is the only advantage I see for my use case for the og tagged out. My top 5 favorite users are 3 crks and the Bailout and bugout, so I think I will dig the taggedout. Cheers!

You guys are great. I agree with most of your thoughts. At the end of the day, the green Taggedout (which I carry as an EDC now) was obviously created for the folks who bought the CPM154CM orange model, and then in predictable form, started asking for a more EDC-forward version. And as you guys said, they added thumbstuds to quench the thirst of that EDC crowd, and dressed it up a bit. Compared to the PM2, I can see where the cost went. There was similar debate as to why the Shaman cost so much compared to the PM2. The scales are nicely contoured/milled, the upgrade to S45VN may not be as pricy as thought but grinding may cost more if the steel is tougher, leading to higher production costs. The aluminum spacer and thumbstuds cost more than not having them. Then there’s the “look at this upgraded premium version” marketing they can hide in there. So yeah, I think it’s where it should be cost wise. As far as the design? It’s a Crooked River/Bugout mix. I have had the Aluminum Bugout with M390 and it didn’t stick with me. I had a G-10 version with M-4 as well and also wished for a slightly longer blade and handle. I looked at the Crooked River because I love the clip point. It reminded me of a modern 110. This Green Taggedout is like the perfect storm. Unless Benchmade re-releases the 710 again, I think this will become a cult classic in due time.

Thumb’s Stud vs Relieve Cut. Have to go with the relieve cut. Full grind and nothing in the way when cutting and skinning.

I believe you guys missed the other Benchmade that's the closest comparison to the S-45VN, green G-10 Taggedout. ... It's the Mini Crooked River, which is the same price, but has S-30V steel, that's 0.10" shorter than the Taggedout in question; aluminum bolster, and full skeletonized metal liners. The Mini Crooked River is a bit thicker, more contoured, hand filling, and also a bit heavier. ... I prefer my Mini Crooked River to my full sized Crooked River for EDC. ... As far as the comparison to the Paramilitary 2, I'm in the minority when it comes to really disliking the PM2. The handle shape is abysmal for my normal, large size hands. I can not get a full, comfortable grip on the poorly designed PM2 handle. It's a three-legged dog of a knife IMO. I've given away the two premium versions I've purchased. ... Edit: I'm not on board with Benchmade's trend to use a lot of safety orange color on their boltaron sheaths and particularly on their blades. To me, it's an abortion. ... I'd own their premium Taggedout in S-90V and carbon fiber, if it didn't have that ghastly orange Cerakote on its beautiful blade.

I enjoyed the vid, new to knifes, but just picked up the new Tagged Out and really like it.

If i want a hunting, skinning knife, I'm going with Montana Knife Co fixed blade Speedgoat/Blackfoot etc. in magnacut. The heat treat is right to give magnacut its full potential, and no blood and guts getting caught up on thumb studs and axis lock. Tried it with my 940 and I'll never make that mistake again.

I'd love to get one, but really just can't get with the color options. If there's some aftermarket scales the original might be an option.

How is cleaning out a crossbar lock style knife, after a successful hunt? I use a fixed blade. As far as the crooked river and other hunt line knives from benchmade, I viewed them as nice edc knives.

Love this knife but wouldn’t use a folder as a hunting knife.
