For once, we have a full Splatoon (ink) combo, full animal crossing combo (streetle OR city tripper, leaf tires, paper glider), and full tanooki combo, and they are ALL optimal!!

This was great, and the overall “it’s really balanced, play with what you like” message is exactly right.

Yoshi's Island being a course, Yoshi being meta, Kamek being added to the game and Kamek's horn sounding like the speech sfx from the game. Man, the SNES Yoshi's Island game is getting a lot of representation lately and I'm 10,000% here for it.

I love it when I can make a fashionable combination that is also functional. Since there are so many viable options now, I'm glad that I'll be able to do that.

This is top tier content, Shortcat. Genuinely. You’re a blessing to this community! I’ve personally been rocking with Daisy, Master Cycle Zero, Rollers (or Sponge if I want hella traction), and Paper glider. This combo feels better to me than literally anything else that’s come before it.

I know inside drift isn’t as good in 8 but im glad the Yoshi bike allows for me to play inside drift with optimal stats. It’s a good skill to learn and spices up the gameplay/how you approach tracks!

I was looking at other videos and websites…but nothing has come close to how in-depth your explanations are top tier. It’s so cool you point out all the changes that I did not realise how much depth this game has. Legend🎉

So in essence just looking at the updated stats, I can definitely see the W25 Silver Arrow, Standard Bike, Flame Rider, and Wild Wiggler receiving a +1 speed+mt and a +1 mini turbo increase in the final patch just so it statistically evens out with the current meta and makes the Wild Wiggler a contender in the meta once again without the worries of outrageously dominating the rest 💯🔥👍🏽

Loved this video, I don't know much about higher level mk gameplay and stuff like this stat crunching really gives some cool insight yknow I mean in general you're constantly explaining what you're doing and why you're doing it and why it's beneficial anyway which is what I think draws in outsiders to these videos so easily, but still.

PERFECT balance of detail and speed, got to the point and it was so clear! Would love more videos like these, great summaries as well.

The "optimal" character and kart combo really only matters for like time trials and even then only on certain tracks due to layouts (obviously) varying making certain builds better or worse, in regular races with items flying around it won't make that much of a difference and if you get unlucky with spiny shells or whatever it doesn't matter how "optimal" your build is

This is a very good/clear video, As someone who doesn't bother with making "the best" combo i have never looked into this and just picked my favorite character Pre dlc, (Dry bones) And when i got curious and looked online for these stats it was very unorganized (imo) This is a clear video and removing the unchanged stats made it way less cluttered. This made it pretty quick and painless not only to find the best stuff but to also optimize potentially worse stuff if it's just what you enjoy.

Honestly, I'd be fine with whatever you wanna do. You're very informative and pleasant to listen to! I think randomized carts/drivers would be fun or streams or something :O

One thing that could be really helpful in a video like this is helping conceptualize what the difference between stat points actually means. Like is 1 speed/mini turbo/whatever stat on a character, 1% better, 10%, etc. I’ve got no idea for most of em, and I feel like I’d be more able to follow it if that was true!

This video was very informative! I just started racing as Kamek because I like Kamek. I knew the Teddy Buggy and Roller had stats that fit my style and that the Cloud Glider was cute. I now know that I coincidentally stumbled into the game's best build!!

I will say that you could argue for the Button or Leaf Tires because you gain one point of max ground speed in addition to the tradeoff you mentioned, but I agree that it's probably not worth it if you're optimizing (unless you're doing specific Time Trials runs)

Even before the buffs, and before I started watching you, I used Black Yoshi, yoshi bike, slim (sometimes rollers), and normal/gold glider. It's crazy how my main for years got buffed in this update.

I'm currently using inkling boy with light blue color, tanooki kart and azure rollers to make up for the traction and it looks great with the blue, orange and black!

I just got back to playing MK8 Deluxe thanks to your videos, and the first combo I tried was inkling with ink striker (because I love Splatoon) so I was just flying through the track without knowing I had chosen one of the best combos lol

i really like this video. you made it really easy to understand what's good. i mainly wanted to know the karts, tires and glider section because i never knew what's actually good and i'm happy my trusted peach parasol is good though i should find a good kart and tire to go along with it. i hope we see more variety because it's really lame when people go for the best character with the best combo in a game like mario kart though it was funny to be the only shy guy in a room full of waluigi's.

I never really paid much attention to stats but I've always noticed I fared better/was harder to beat using Peach/Daisy/Yoshi in the Biddybuggy/Roller combo. Glad to see my experimenting with various combinations somewhat matches the in-game stats 🤣

I like this type of video as well where its not all about the gameplay. One fun but possibly longer video would be watching all of the wave 5 world records and giving yourself a single attempt or a couple to recreate it. Or doing a kart and character randomizer online would be fun to watch.
