New bike day! My first Gravel bike Cervelo Aspero set up as all-road bike for ultra-endurance racing and bikepacking. While the Aspero was designed with gravel racing in mind, it's proven to be a fantastic bike for all road and bikepacking, a quiver-killer!
After extensive testing during B-Hard Ultra race, I decided to make the final adjustments and tune-up
Bike Cervelo Aspero: bike build
- Shimano GRX RX815 DI2 11 speed
- 11-34 cassette and 48-31 chainring at the front which gives you a wide range of gears particularly useful for steep climbs when you are loaded with bags
- Shimano GRX RX815 Hydraulic Disc
- Tyre clearance for 44 millimetres for 700c or 51 mm for 650 b
- Cervelo trail mixer system
- Wheels: Reserve 32mm DT370
- Deda Jet aero bars
- Absolute Black stem cap
- Crankbrothers eggbeater 2
- Tune bottle cages

This is awesome. I’ve been following your Chanel for a while as I’ve been getting set up for bikepacking/touring. I recently finished building my Focus Cayo with a lot of aftermarket parts, and then accidentally & unfortunately ran it over the other day while moving. Now I’ve been looking for a new bike, and seeing your use for the Cervelo Aspero has me quite sold. Love the videos, keep it up :)

Hi Sherry! That's a great bike. I'd like to know how do you feel the grx group? especially during the climbing. And also, did you sell the trek bike? That's a beautiful bike as well. Saludos amigos!
@Buzzalong.cycling
@Buzzalong.cycling 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Diego, thanks ! Already tested the GRX group in some of the steep climbs in my previous race, it was a life server to keep a good cadence and not get knee injuries, I also really like the ergonomic shifters of GRX more than the road groups. I sold the Trek Checkpoint I had because It was too big for me even in a small size ( the reach was too long) and I wanted a fast bike that I can also use for races. Un Saludo :)
@petersutedja8845
@petersutedja8845 Жыл бұрын
hi Sherry, looks great! just wonder how do you think about the aspero's performance as a road bike (in terms of ride quality, handling), is GRX gearing fast enough for road, and did you also consider cervelo caledonia back then? thanks!
@Buzzalong.cycling
@Buzzalong.cycling Жыл бұрын
Many thanks for your comment Peter, the Aspero works well for me on and off road but if you are using the bike primarily for road the Caledonia might a better option. Sometimes with GRX gears I cannot push it on dowhills but works great to go up steep climbs with heavy bikepacking bags :)

Hi, really nice bike! For road and gravel congrats. How did you experience the difference after the bike fit and these settings on your new bike? Best, Willem
@Buzzalong.cycling
@Buzzalong.cycling 2 жыл бұрын
Many thanks Willem :) the new bike and setup is a massive improvement from my previous bike. Now I can get the right position because of the smaller size and reduced reach, so it is more comfortable and I can dial my position in the aero bars better. Overall realy improved my hand and neck issues and the handling is much better.

Hi Iban, thanks for your comment, gravel bikes are so versatile, which gravel bike do you have ? for the aero bars I used the Deda Jet One Clip-On 340 Mm, but you should check them out well before getting them because theres no much adjustability so you really need to find a position that works for you. For the handle bar I used the PRO PLT Ergo Carbon 31.8 Handlebars, this handle bar has a very short reach ( I have very short torso) so be aware of it . Hope it is helpful :)

Spent about 500 miles on it and so far so good. kzfaq.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA Pros:1. Very light2. Solid quality build3. Fast delivery: It arrived 5 weeks earlier than expected.4. Easy assemblyJust a few cons but nothing major:1. Cheap tin tubes and had flat on first day... but not a big deal. I replaced the tubes.2. Seat is a bit uncomfortable but that's pretty much the same situation with most bikes.3. Seat post is a bit long/high for a smaller size 48 bike - had to saw 2 inch off to fit properly. The lowest setting is too high. The post locking system does not seem to hold well (perhaps because I saw 2 inch off).4. wheels are not tubeless compatible (from what I can tell)
