Nice video! Lately, I've started using Insta360 cameras on my rides around town with my dog.🚴🐕I managed to mount Insta360 Extended edition selfie stick (300 cm) with the Insta360 X4 over the front wheel of the bicycle using the quick release system. So, I can stop riding the bicycle anywhere, put it on the stand, and continue filming my dog without pausing. Also, I placed the second Insta360 Ace Pro camera on the bicycle seat tube to film what is happening behind me. With this, I covered the area that cannot be recorded by the front camera because of me, because I interfere in the shot. In this way, I can cover literally everything that happens around me while riding a bike, and thus watch all the runs of my dog around me, this way I get great shots suitable for slowing down. I am really excited about both insta360 cameras!

It finally found it`s way on my handlebar today and unfortunately I`m quite dissappointed about the fact that the camera really got loose after a not even 3 minute ride on a simple street. This should not happen! Insta360 really need to fix this, because it can become dangerous. Everything else on this mount ist more than perfect and stable enough to ride through an earthquake !!!

Rich makes the best Insta360 YT tutorial videos. Thanks for your efforts. My insights (hope this helps). You can use the Insta360 Selfie Stick with this. I've had NO issue with it loosening it's grip while filming (you will get a little 'bounce' if you use it fully extended though). There is a little washer nut on the 1/4 thread. It's great for attaching the carbon pole securely, however if you're just riding around without the pole/camera attached....it does 'rattle' a little. It's not a deal breaker, but you will hear something loose knocking about. Takes away from your stealthy ninja alter ego.

Thanks for testing this out. Got the promo emails for it and almost went for it but I only really ride a mountain bike so I think other options will be better for me.

hey like your content. I tip I've got is if you are ever worried about the 360 unscrewing use a dab of locktite. I'll put my camera off the back of my motorcycle and ride 100+ miles without checking it.

Yes great tip - I have some locktite (the red bottle) and have used it on a helmet mount before. That’s good to know that it holds strong on a motorcycle for that long. If you use the semi permanent one it’s easy to undo it as well I suppose.

Great mount but sadly can’t use as per the setup on my road bike having my garmin in the middle. Will have to use the conventional mount part of the bike mount kit purchased insta360 bundle. Hoping now for a good weather been bad in Sydney the past weeks! Great video as always mate thanks 🙏

Yeah it’s a shame the mount setup is so restricted, but of an oversight in the design. Should have made the mount width adjustable some how. Weather in UK is starting to turn but not too much rain yet. Thanks for the comment 👍🏼

Interesting product, however, it doesn't seem to allow positioning the camera "off center"? I've been trying to build rig for my bike that allows that, because I much prefer a partial sideview of the rider, rather than having the camera straight in front. But it's been more difficult than I had hoped...

You need a mount with a ball head so you can position the camera and selfie stick out at a 45 degree angle

Hi. I have an unrelated question to this video, How can I save still 360 frames from a 360 video? Like save a still frame for every 5 seconds of video?

You’d have to do it manually in the desktop software by exporting a snapshot when you are in 360 mode and this would export an equirectangular image (native 360)

Hi Juan, thanks for the comment. The gap in between the mount is 5.5cm so if you mounted it in the middle you would need to have nothing bigger than that in the middle of the bar. You can mount it to one side of the middle and for that you’d need 8cm. Hope this helps.

Do you have a favorite bicycle light that would mount on the GoPro mount part of the 3rd Person Insta360 Handlebar Mount? (most are handlebar direct mounts, and running out of handlebar space near center). Self contained batteries preferred. Thanks for that. Your videos are top notch, much appreciated.

No but others in the comments have and the selfie stick seems to fix better without undoing so it’s worth trying.

I tried using the lower three sections of the compact selfie stick and it worked well. Because the selfie stick has a label on it you can look and see if it’s unscrewing.

Hi Rich, can’t you replace the carbon (wobbly) stick with one of the invisible selfie sticks from insta360 to have (1) less movement/vibrations and (2) have it more securely on the bike?

Rich , I developed a issue with my insta 360 one X2 where the exposure seems different on each half of the lense sphere . It makes the camera unusable , one half being light the other darker along the stitch line . Happens indoors , cloudy and especially in sunny conditions . You ever come across this issue with yours ?

I’ve experienced this with the one r in bright sun. This is common outside especially in the sun and can usually be corrected with the chromatic calibration in the app or in the studio software. I haven’t seen this inside though or with clouds so that’s strange. Put a sample on instas Facebook group and tag them in the post. Sorry I can’t help any more.

Thank you for your consistently good reviews. I have a e-bike and a Insta360 One RS and want to do 360-front-of-bike-videos. About 1 year ago you reviewed the PGYTECH handlebar mount with a short extended magic aluminum arm with ball. That looked SOLID for a One RS. I am very concerned about the weight of a One RS attached in front of THIS carbon fiber mount, for this product, and would like to get your opinion vs. the shorter PGYTECH? Could it do the same job basically as well? Any recommendations?

Thanks for your comment. I think the pgytech is a better mount, more compact, more solid and more versatile. It would give you that floating camera look as shown in my pgytech review video - it just won’t be as far from the bike. The alternative is a manfrotto super clamp - these are much bigger but really solid and you could add a selfie stick. It's a shame they didn't design a mount for the aero or integrated handlebars which alot of bikes come with now. This design is only suited for standard round handlebars

The fitting is so wide, they should have made it more versatile and Opened up the market to other handlebars as you say and also mountain bikes and escooters.

I purchased this Insta360 mount but it snapped after 1.2 miles into my ride. Seeing my brand new X3 crash to the road and scratch one of the lenses. Sent back and never again. Far too flexible while your cycling.

I don't know, man. I've been reading a lot of reviews on Amazon where many people post photos of the stick broken...and pissed that their X3's broke as well, because of the stick snapping off. Think I'll pass.

While it loosens up sometimes, a quick tighten is all it needs and it's never caused any damage.
