The standard 15 pack Aldi fishfingers work for me and are cheap enough! Love the Smoked Haddock fish cakes!

The only problem with the fish cakes are that they’re only 38% fish compared to 58% for the fish fingers but for 75pence a pack the fingers seem good !

Great vid as always Gareth. What I’ve found with Aldi is that anything in their Specially Selected range is spot on👍

I haven’t tried the fishcakes, but I had the fish fingers just the other day and they were surprisingly nice. The fish is minced, but it was definitely just small pieces of cod, there was nothing mushy, grey or weird-looking. They are smaller than standard-size fish fingers, maybe about the same length and width but half the thickness, so you need quite a few per portion, but I did enjoy them. I know you can get giant bags that work out cheaper by weight, but would the quality be the same, and you would need storage space. I think 75p is very reasonable for a 10-pack. Compare it with the price of Birds Eye, for example - you may want to have smelling salts at hand! The fish cakes don’t really appeal to me, I like peas with fishcakes but not in the middle as a sauce, so I may give them a miss, but I will definitely buy the fish fingers again.

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference, Chunky Cod Fillet Fish Fingers, are gorgeous. But at £4 for 8 that's 50p a fish finger.

You need to try the same fishcakes in Aldi ..cod and chorizo...they are ace...massive chunks of cod fillet in them

Been to Aldi this morning and found these fish fingers. I was going to suggest them but you got there first!! We've just had them in sandwiches for lunch and they are really good. Excellent value, especially as they are made from cod.

Purely by accident I ended up on on channel called "just deano" it was showing Iceland fishcakes, I think it was 12 fish cakes for £2 and straight cut chips for £1. All I can remember was that it worked out at 4 fish cakes and chips for 94p per potion. What can I say? I believe he is piggy backing off your videos. Number 1, he hasn't got your charisma or feel good factor that you have. Number 2, he didn't do a real breakdown of the taste of the finished meal. And he didn't ask me if I felt "spot on". Which I do with your posts. You make it real, from making the light right to trying to talk with your mouth full. You always give an honest opinion and that's what counts. You are still my number 1 food reviewer.

Fish cakes always have potato in them - that's what makes them fish cakes. If they didn't have the potato in they'd be called breaded/battered fish (or fish fingers!) .

I wouldnt touch the fish cakes even though they are a limited edition...lol. But the fish fingers had good ingredients and who can resist a fish finger sandwich OMG.. soooo goood

Best fishcakes ever are the Waitrose cod & chorito ones that are on offer at the moment for £3.00 for two. Don't know what the normal price is but they're right tasty and I only bought them 'cause they had a yellow sticker on 'em.

I must say you have such creative frozen food options in the UK compared to here in western Canada. I have been thinking this since I started watching your videos. Everything in my local grocery stores freezer section is pretty basic. Fishstick we have but fish cakes I haven't seen before😊

Another good video, I wouldn't buy the fish fingers as I only eat birds eye haddock ones. The fish cakes looked ok but I like M&S cod fish cakes, you should try them Gareth they are lovely. Have you tried non brewed condiment, fish shop vinegar it's not as tart as the malt

It was good to know the fishcake was good because sometimes with salt and vinegar flavouring the acetic acid powder some company's use isn't very good so it's good to hear that they use a good one

I work in the fish industry what we do is spin that fish in a washing machine with cod cheeks and other bits like seasoning then we sell that to asda tesco and other compaines its all the same

I love aldi Gareth. Prices are going through roof there though. Their biscuits, bread stuffs and meat are approaching big supermarket prices. Dog food is now £3.85 for 6 tins, was £1,99 year ago. Crumpets were 25p now 39p, muffins were 35p now 49p. It's everything. Love your show.
