So... to emboss, would I use the foil and mirror the image? This short video only showed how to deboss. 2 completely different looks.

The four new tools are so AWESOME to work with!! For those of you who haven't purchased yet they are a MUST get!! The deboss is so professional looking isn't it!! I think a great follow up video would be to see various sample inking techniques on the debossed lettering/designs.🙋🏻😍😘💜💕 TFS

Excuse my ignorance but...what is the difference between debossing and embossing. I know both tools look different. I do not know the difference between one and the other. They seem to do the same thing.

In traditional printing, debossing is what is shown in this video. The design is pressed into the surface from the front side. Embossing is causing the image to be raised by applying pressure from the backside against a stencil or plate. If you do a general search on embossing, you will find samples of small brass plates with paper laid on top, upside down, and the paper is rubbed with a stylus to conform to the shapes in the stencil.

ssharp11, I was thinking the same thing, but I bet you could lay your paper or other material facedown on the mat and mirror your image and you would get the embossed effect. I will have to try this to see if it works or not but it stands to reason it should.

Tanner can you share how you store all of these different blades? I just bought the maker and understand these 5 are new blades but there others as well. Is there a cute storage system to keep them in?

Joanne, What my wife and I did was just go to the Pharmacy and bought some of the brown pill vials. The size is about 3" tall and 1 1/4" diameter. Be sure you get the lids with it. They should be the ones that you can either just unscrew or put on so they are child proof. If you want to protect the blade ends, just push some Kleenex or cotton balls down in the bottom. Works beautifully. YourConscience

You cannot. The Cricut Maker is not Food Safe and fondant is not something you can deboss. Sorry!

Yes, the housing that comes with the scoring wheel is what's called the "quick swap housing" and can be used for those tips as well! :)

I think the tool is the Scoring tool (that I'm thinking about) that goes in clamp A, but yes what is the difference between the two.

Alicia M. Debossing, presses the image downward so you have a flat image and emboss raises the image so you’ll feel the image raised. . I had mentioned on another post but I think if you mirror you image and place your material face down on mat, it will EMBOSS you project.

I think the title of this video is misleading, there is no embossing in this tutorial, just debossing.

Can you test out how to do flat debossing on the Cricut as opposed to fine line embossing? CleverSomeday found a trick to do it (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aLl-ZcdlyNDJook.html) but wondering if there's a simpler way? Could be a cool thing to test!
