I visited ‪@palfinger‬ in Wiltshire UK to sign off on our new one of a kind 8x2 air suspension rear steer P450 ‪@ScaniaTrucksBuses‬ Hook Loader with Crane.
This Crane and Hook Loader combo was custom built for Ashville by TH White and Palfinger, one of the largest crane manufacturers in the world. We wanted something to handle both delivering bagged aggregates and picking up/dropping off roll-on roll-off bins as well as transporting machines.

When demand for roll-on/off-bins (containers like we call them) will grow. It's a relative cheap investment to buy a trailer so you can move two containers at a time. Where I live you see those combinations quite a lot for waste management, wood chips, construction materials,...

I saw one the other day here in Melbourne Australia that was towing a semi length dog trailer so that it could take 3 skip bins to the main tip in one go.

It would definitely make it even more versatile but can’t forget where Ashville’s based. Central London has probably too many tight spots to make that config useful enough

I'm curious about how that works in Europe as well. Can they boot strap over there? or does the government at the .. what would call it? something akin to the federal level over in the US, does the government over their actively promote small businesses getting started?

@@Alex-wj9ho I either heard Daniel say, or I read it that as a boy he was really into construction vehicles and taking him to school, his mum used to have to stop wherever there were builders etc because little Daniel (you can imagine what an adorably sweet child he would have been) wanted to know all about their machinery and how it worked. It seems they're a lifelong love of his.

I have a Scania with a hooklift and I'm driving asphalt, seeds, gravel, dirt, machines etc. so I don't think you'll have any problem finding jobs for your new truck. Good luck!

that thing cant lift a bucked of water,, how much? 1 tonne? how far out....? that crane is a piece of, i want to but i can't...to light all the way for its job ment to do..

Another great video! one other use you could use that for is a portable site office. So rather than setting up a new site office on every job just convert a roll on into a office which contains everything you need for site office then you simply turn up to a job and roll it off (room permitting)

Nice piece of kit, I did 14 years on big hooks, 2 million kms under my belt on them....knocked it on the head though after 22 years on HGVs , now 51 and have been valeting and detailing cars for the last 6 years.....👍🇮🇲💪

I’d have 2 shallow sided flatbeds with barn doors. Then can be used to drop on site and filled with a tracked dumper or wheel barrows. Also when you start to get busy with the bulk bags of aggregate if you have two flat back with shallow sides you can have someone in the yard loading up the spare flat back whilst out delivering with the other. Saves loading 10 or 12 bags each time it returns to yard.

Nice buy and should be good for any steel deliveries to site. The Ro-Ro back will be great for drops on site for any materials that are needed for a days job and free up the lorry for other tasks. I think it’s the future and maybe get a smaller one for the REALLY tight sites.

hook trucks are great. i used to work for a garbage company. now im out on my own. i hope to eventually get my own hook trucks. amazing for firewood, chipping, demo, equipment hauling, and without any body on they are decent to work on. hook trucks r amazing
