Cool to see this company get a feature like this. They're made one town over from where I live! Tamarack is a popular beach in Carlsbad (Where Iconic guitars are located), and Solana Beach is a coastal town just south of Tamarack beach in North San Diego. Very cool.

Great work with these guys. Finishes similar to the Journeyman relic need to be made more accessible - a lot of the nicer custom shop guitars are just not available. Those finishes are nigh-on perfect! The one thing major thing I don't like about the Silver Skies are their finishes - their clear/hard plastics and choice of colours just don't appear or feel high quality (to my tastes at least). That Sonic Grey is beautiful, I'd love to see more finishes of that quality in general.

@@donbishop6994 ofcourse yeah, i guess i'm more baffled with how do they come up with this price as its essentially a knockoff strat with a barely perceivable twist on a headstock. i'm more of a synth guy actually so when Behringer decided to copy old synth designs and reissue them it was a huge scandal but in guitar community it seems to actually be encouraged and endorsed to copy Fender and Gibson and ask their prices because you've improved tuning stability or fret levelling process or smthn

It boggles my mind how since the 60s every "boutique" company is making a replica of a Strat or a Tele and then they claim that they have improved the guitars but its never really the case. Mr. Leo Fender got it right and I think its just stupid to make such a huge claim, if these companies have really improved the guitars, fender would out of business. If a normal Strat was good enough for Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Clapton, SRV, Gilmour, Nile rodgers etc etc etc, what makes everybody think that they have improved the guitars? and in what way? Even PRS ended up making a strat copy, and at the same time unofficially claiming that this is an improved version of a strat, It would be so much more respectable if these companies clearly state that this is our homage to the greatest guitar ever designed. Its just mind boggling to see such stupidly priced instruments just because its supposed to be "Boutique" or "handmade", guitar people in general are some of the most gullible folks out there, they will pay $2000 extra because its supposed to be an improved version of something and then sit in the room chasing the tones of the greats which were done on the "unimproved fender models". Sorry, rant over!

Legacy brands don't do well because their products are the best, they do well because their products are well known. Also, I think your idea as to why people may choose to buy a product is colored by your perception of those products, rather than based in fact. Otherwise, by your argument, Gibson's robot guitars should have sold much better.
@VishalAgarwalMusic
@VishalAgarwalMusic Жыл бұрын
@@Vykk_Draygo and why do you think that their products are so well known? is it because they are quite simply the best? yes I think so, there are tons of companies making guitars since the last 50 or so years and if there is one fact I know, then that would be "all of those companies have done well not because they improved the guitars but because a player came along and chose it as his instrument of choice and made amazing music on it" which made everybody realize that what you are chasing has been available in the stores all along, you can take numerous examples like ESP, Ibanez, Charvel and even SUHR for that, what I love about Suhr is that they dont claim to have improved anything, they simply call their instrument as class S style and classic T style which is very respectable i think. Also, your argument about Gibson is honestly very funny. Gibson didn't go out of business because they didnt improve the guitars with their robotic tuners at all and every sane person realizes that. Gibson themselves never marketed that above their standard Les Paul and signatures because they also know that. and for what its worth, kudos to Gibson for actually attempting to improve the instrument, and minus points for charging a fortune for the same.

Their products are so well known because they were in the right place at the right time in the electric guitar boom, gained positions of dominance and global brand awareness, and now use that history and financial might to throw free guitars at every upcoming player, thus perpetuating their brand awareness to the next generation of live music watchers. VHS outsold betamax, but wasn't a "better" system. Toyota Corolla is the best selling car, but few would insist it's "simply the best" car ever made. Popularity isn't a proxy for perfection. Fender make decent guitars, I own a couple, but it's naive and narrow minded to think Suhr, Anderson, LSL, Xotic, Schecter custom shop or a whole bunch of other high end makers with excellent reputations do it worse. If you want the original, that's fine, you can buy a Fender. If you've never experienced those others with an open mind, you won't understand how or why they're preferred by some over Fender.

Because it's a good design. The shape doesn't impact the sound (for electrics), so might as well go with what looks and feels nice. Most functional guitar shapes will, by nature, resemble a single cut or double cut body, with a waist for comfort. No one complains about this for acoustic guitars, so I don't understand why some electric players get bent out of shape about it. 🤷‍♂
