Honestly, Kaede was giving off red flags throughout the game. Not necessarily because she was suspicious, but because she didn't come off as a "protagonist." Especially when she was mentoring Shuichi. Though she was still suspicious. I noticed that her narration would suddenly stop at times. I also remembered that the concept of making sure the flash was off was bolded, tipping me off that it's gonna be important later, and thinking that Kaede was gonna accidentally leave it on. *It was no accident.* When Kaede said there was only one person who could have done it, coupled with her serious tone when Shuichi started explaining more about the pictures, that sealed it.

You know, it suddenly occurred to me something interesting about the whole game with a slight allusion to Chapter 1. Major spoilers below for the ENTIRE game: Kirumi, Korekiyo, Miu, and Tsumugi were the only people in the dining hall before Tsumugi left to go and ensure Rantaro died. What's interesting about that? Note that they are the only players inside the dining hall, and ALL of them planned out a murder for their own escape/gain and not for the benefit of another player in the academy, and they are the ONLY people to do this (bear in mind, although Miu failed to kill someone to escape, she very nearly succeeded in at least killing Kokichi, but I highly doubt even if she succeeded she would have won the trial anyways). Kaede, Gonta, and Kaito all killed for at least one other person inside the academy.

[Continued spoilers] You could also plausibly group the people who weren't in either of the two main locations [Shuichi, Kaede, Kokichi, Keebo, Rantaro] as the only people to try to stop the game entirely. (Kokichi is arguable, I suppose, but I always got the impression that the goal of "a murder Monokuma couldn't solve" was to end the game by making it "invalid.")

@@Stirdix To an end, I could see Kokichi trying to stop the game like that. Ryoma could be part of that group too, having no alibi and willing to die so others could live and stop the game.

Well, it makes sense. The people that went to the basement are those that wanted to work together and defeat Monokuma to save everyone in some way. Meanwhile the guys that were in the dining hall were those that didn't believe they could save anyone or just didn't care. Just personality wise, it makes sense it turned out like this.

She didn't even know if anyone was alive in the outside world and yet she was willing to sacrifice everything to get out of there! Sounds like bad decision making to me
