We have one size bigger, the 410 4x4, full cab. They are about as versatile as a machine can be. If you spend any time with it, you might end up wanting one...

Fifteen years ago I worked at a potato packing plant and the owner also owned the farm land around it. One day we get a new 310 backhoe. I had owned a farm before and have a JD 510, I wanted to try it out so I started driving around the parking lot. As I started out the gate toward the highway my mind went blank, I couldn't stop it. It did not have a clutch or inching pedal so I tried to pull it out of gear, that didn't work. I couldn't find the throttle or ignition switch, just before I went out into the highway I stood on the brakes as hard as I could and it stopped. I found the reverser and backed my way back into the parking lot. I then memorized all the ways to stop that thing. I had not fully learned the controls before I started so I did not realize that there was a transmission disconnect button on the gearshift lever plus one on the bucket control lever. And of course the reverser has a neutral position as well as reverse. I couldn't think of none of that. I was only 52, by the time I was 56 I could no longer work. I am doing OK and can do small tasks, just don't ask me to think quick or do anything complicated.

That's what I did for my living , I owned an Equipment Rental Company. So I know what you mean and pieces of crap given to you. This is exactly what we DID NOT DO, in our Company. I learned from the garbage that some of my competitors rented to their customers. This is why my business did well. I'd like to see that 310L in about another year .
@letsdig188 жыл бұрын
+Reg Sparkes if its like most rental companies it will be ragged out. Yet some charge you for the damages but never fix them. My friend rented a roller onetime and it came without a seat! one excavator had a broke thumb cylinder so they chained it up and told him to be careful with it
@regsparkes65078 жыл бұрын
+letsdig18 I hear you. I've seen it for more than 40 years at this business. Like any dealer you might find. pick a good one and stay with them. If you get something that is frigged up,.tell them right away, if they don't want to hear it, don't deal with there again, and tell them that too. The American Rental Association would like to know the names , dates and places of the those crappy dealers. Then again, it is 'buyers/renters, beware , and check it out BEFORE you take delivery. I know what it means to have 'down time' because of faulty equipment.

HI Chris That machines nice as in being new, but a typical Deere just like some of the older 70's and 80's tractors with the one door cab. They put shit right in the line of sight to look at all day. A cab side post muffler, and regular crowd cylinders on the boom sides like a lot of other machines. would make the forward view way better than it is now L.O.L. I hate running loaders in lower buildings with that center cylinder poking up, a guys got to be so careful you don't mangle stuff in the roof. With regular rams the bucket tops the highest point,and easier to judge better I find .
@jimlondon18 жыл бұрын
it's a shame there's no forward tipping dumpers in the USA. I. guess you know what I'm talking about but they are very useful here in England. they can carry up to 9 tons metric and can turn their body through 90°. easy for hauling short distances and backfilling trenches. I like your videos man, interesting stuff. 👍

@letsdig18 in England we don't use skids a lot we be using possibly a 6 ton forward tipping dumper and 8 ton excavator/jcb 3cx but I see a lot of guys in the us use skids and things along thoughts lines and I really don't like the us style backhoe because they don't have side shift on the backhoe
@Oshkoshtruckfan8 жыл бұрын

I dont know the new JD numbering system. I worked with a 510B with external hydraulics for the shaker and impactor and a 510C extenda-hoe. The C could reach down 22 feet so that was impressive unless it was you that was in the ditch

@jcconcrete30188 жыл бұрын
+pinkbandit133 Because i didn't know what the letter meant? It's the first one I've ever owned, I don't know a whole lot about it because i only use it in the woods when me and my friend cut wood.
@turbodiesel47098 жыл бұрын
+BigJames Gaming : Ask a Deere dealer for verification, but I believe it's a series designation. In my experience, that's what most letters mean after model numbers (suffixes) in the equipment world, no matter which manufacturer it is. In other words, it mostly has to do with it's build era vintage. However, there may be more to it. Again, I'd ask a reputable Deere dealer for detailed info. And, if you happen to find out more, please share it with us here!

I love the backhoe, but hell, why put the dump cylinder right in the center? I know it's not completely obstructing your view but it still bugs me.
@TheMetalButcher8 жыл бұрын
+P0tat0_craft They design their bucket towhere the curl up is powered by the outward stroke of the cylinder. The push stroke is the strongest, and it really simplifies the linkage to use only one cylinder. I'm a fan of it.
@likeaboss8608 жыл бұрын
+justfakeit888 The reason the return stroke is weaker than the thrust stoke is due to the fact that a hydraulic line can not handle nearly as much of a vacuum as it can positive pressure.
@TheMetalButcher8 жыл бұрын
lul wut. No. Not at all. The push stroke is stronger than the return stroke because the return stroke loses volume because the rod takes up volume of the cylinder. Both directions are pushed at 3000+ psi. Vacuum would never do anything to move that bucket.
@likeaboss8608 жыл бұрын
Oh, well by that logic then the beginning of the push stroke would the weakest wouldn't it? When the pump is asked to work under load via suction it is put at immediate disavantage.
@leebarnes6558 жыл бұрын
No again. Start to finish, expansion stroke is full piston size times pressure applied. Contraction stroke calculation has to allow for the piston rod diameter taken out of the equation, thus the contraction stroke is always the weaker of the two. Hydraulic pumps are never put under a suction in any decent design.
