The auto drivers have to pay rent and petrol for their rickshaws..many of them stay in rented slum like houses and would be the only working person in their family..so if you want for free, go in public transport like bus not auto

I disagree with you!! in Some countries people are far more generation than any where else!! Turkey is a good example! Turkish people are not richer than those in western Europe but guess what? Never ask for money in INDIA, its a insult of a true person in need. You ask for help with food and let them know that you really need their help, people in india are very generous and will definitely help. Begging is like insult in sanatan dharma, especially if you ask for money. Please note :Begging" and "Help in need" are two different things here, so always mention you need help because of a problematic situation you are in & everyone will help in India. 🙏

I'm sorry man, this might make you feel better about India, as an Indian I can say this with confidence, Indians are used to beggars claiming to have lost their luggage and asking for money, so people tend to reject the request as a habit. If you spend 2 minutes and actually make them realise that you have "no money" they will really try to help. Atleast that's what I feel.

As an Indian I have survived without money in such dire situations. I have had managed to get free food but not travelling. Life is tough without money here so also anywhere on earth. Everybody's going through some sort of trouble themselves. So testing people here to help in cities is like staying in a desert and searching for water. Very rare.

Ill suggest you to use public transport for cheaper transportation. The banana seller was calling you back to give yaa one free banana, you didn't notice. Don't use words like no money, give free, I'm foreigner. If you're really in need of help just ask politely for help with some background real story like you lost your wallet, someone scammed you or you lose your money somehow and need help. They'll help you surely. Indian are very kind . But only if you're genuinely in need. They'll help.
