The alphatheta does not have the low latency wireless Protocol built in, you have to use their transmitter that is only delivered with the speakers. But you could do that with any other controller...

I'm totally with you on this Rick 💯 %. I just bought a the Numark mixstream pro go about 3 weeks for only $800.00 I am so amazed by the product it literally throughs Omnis Duo out the water. Great video.

Dude! I’m considering getting one. Any issues or lags with it? Would be so dope to practice with at home or on the go. Heard some users speakers were blowing though.

Nah. I have the mixstream pro go since new . Coming up a year now. Its pretty solid . The Speakers are good for home practicing and enjoying music at home . I have pushed the speakers all the way up and gain all the way up in the red and its all good . For club use the speakers are useless. I have used it out for alot of gigs where i was traveling light . And it also works with serato as well

I think you are right about Alpha Theta having to pay royalties on the brand. I think when Pioneer split with Pioneer TV, car stereos, etc. They changed their name to Pioneer DJ and Pioneer car stereos existed on their own. So now the future will be Alpha Theta and everyone's Pioneer DJ product will be soon like having a Vestax or Soundcraftsman MTX. Farewell Pioneer DJ

Here's the deal, sure, inflation my be causing some increases however, transportation cost are steady, down from years past and you know manufacturing cost are probably the same as this is manufactured overseas. Quality may be the same but AlphaTheta is banking on people purchasing this based on their name and AlphaTheta being the "flagship" brand moving forward. You are spot on regarding the price, seems really high for what you are getting.

@ClevelandTerry sir,I follow you and support you heavily. We can watch you use the controller and see everything that Rick has said is true. For that price you shouldn't be recommending anybody to get it. In every aspect you can find a better controller for a cheaper price.

I use a Denon SC live and couldn't be happier. Even the tacky built in speakers are useful for my daily practice. The price of this thing is insane. Is missing buttons, access, streaming options (at least for now) and SoundSwitch control which I live from my Denon. Streaming over Bluetooth and playing KZfaq videos? Very impressive but I don't see myself doing that as a professional DJ ever! I'll plug in everything and be relaxed trying to give my best while performing and not worrying about batteries or Bluetooth signal. Just my opinion

Great review Rick! The omnis is just an overpriced Denon Prime Go (probably $500/$600 overpriced). $1,500 for gimmick/toyish controller is crazy. Why buy this when you can get a b-stock rev 7 for the same price.

The software doesn't have key match or the ability to stream from music services. You'll be better off picking up the new reloop mixtour and using djay Pro with an iPad.

Just spent the last 2 days at NAMM and the OMNIS its really good! They basically took the OPUS and shrunk it!!! Also you can power and charge it from a cell phone battery back.

I can operate my SC Live 4 (which is far superior and costs €300 less) with a XTPower from Amazon, too, and I have good sounding speakers directly integrated.

I agree with everything your saying here but be careful with the MixStream. I have 1 and now it’s pretty much a paperweight because the crossfader is not replaceable 🤦🏾‍♂️ And yeah I know I can take it apart and solder it in but I should NOT have to do this in 2024!!

@@m-stat9 🤣😂😂 Turntablists I’m not, it’s just a cheap crossfader and it still doesn’t change the fact that it’s 2024 and in this day and age ALL crossfaders should be “end user replaceable”. Stop sticking up for companies who give a crap. If we stop accepting them (companies) being cheap this wouldn’t be a problem!! They call it the “MixStream PRO” for a reason.

Alpha Theta owns Pioneer so no royalties would have to be paid if they kept the Pioneer logo.

I would have to dig through the by out contract but normally in a brand buy out there are royalties paid out to the previous owner on all brand sales for a period. Most buy outs on the backend are not just a fat check wrote and done. Normally there are terms for the buyout over time

@@DJRickWebit was a fat check written. Alpha theta has a perpetual license they have already paid for to pioneer. Whether they use the name or not, pioneer made their money. There's no expiration date, and no royalties.

Alpha Theta owns Pioneer DJ but not Pioneer. There could still have been licensing fees to Pioneer for the continued use of the name in Pioneer DJ even with the acquisition of Pioneer DJ.

This thing would be “horrible” at a night time gig. Nothing is lit up except that screen. Also hate the alphabet cue pads…but i get the promo approach. I would prob like it a lot more if it actually had something with more design appeal besides the screen…it’s just very plain. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I guess I am responding because, yea, I do come off the wrong way sometimes but a lot of it is that I am quite autistic and my responses often totally come off as robot speak, which could be considered condescending. As far as this comment, I was angry at Rick telling falsehoods about my friends. That said I also thanked him in his video for the apology. As far as opinions on Omnis, that is 100% his right and it didn't bother me in the slightest, but my response didn't give that impression. Anyway, sorry for the word dump, but I felt that your response deserved a thoughtful response.

However, I had seen many of your comments in the past and they frequently rubbed me the wrong way. 1st thoughts were that's pretty cool. Small piece to take out to for a small event, ceremony, etc. I only watched Brian's video on it and then he said the price and I thought "oh that's probably the price for the controller and the Wave 8, that's not terrible. Then I find out that's the price for the controller by itself 🤣 $1500 and looks like Fisher Price made it.

This controller is for those rich hippies that are going to every festival. You wonder how they have the time, and money to go? Pioneer show them in their promo video for this controller. These DJs are not booking gigs for money. They probably have a trust fund or still live at home. They like to throw parties/mini raves outside of festivals, at the beach, and the mountains. They also love showing off Pioneer gear in their photos. You know who I’m talking about because you see CDJ’s or their DJX controller taking up 50% of every photo they take of themselves. That demographic will never buy any other brand. Pioneer knows this, and that’s why they kept the price is just under a DJX controller.

I’m sorry, but how can you do a product “review” without having the product in hand? Also, I highly doubt that Allha Theta pays “royalties” because they own Pioneer. 😂 Lastly, I’ve actually owned the Denon prime go, Numark mix pro go, Pioneer RR, RX3 and now this Omnis duo. The Omnis Duo is in a nice middle point of being smaller than the Numark, with larger jogwheels than the Denon while retaining the rekordbox capabilities of the RX3/RR/CDJs. The Omnis Duo is pretty expensive, but it’s also extremely versatile … the Bluetooth input steaming is great for song requests and Serato integration will make it great for Stems.

It all depends on how the by out merge deal went through. Sometimes they negotiate terms of the by out over time.

They own Pioneer DJ but not Pioneer so it could be that Pioneer gets licensing fees for the name.

Say it with me everyone. "Alphatheta does not pay royalties to pioneer to use the name pioneer DJ". There was a perpetual license purchased a LONG time ago, with no expiration date. They pay nothing currently to use the name. They are also STILL going to be releasing pioneer DJ equipment.

i think the way Alpha Theta is going is they going to make their own lineup of dj products and pioneer dj will continue to make their won dj products as both companies are Run as separate companies even though pioneer dj is own by Alpha Theta that's what Alpha Theta said when they bought pioneer dj that pioneer dj products are not going any where except for name will change

Like anything else on the market, anyone should ask their self if it fits their needs. I can see this being a good fit for ceremony, cocktail hour, an after party, rooftop bar, basement lounge etc. The only fair comparison would be the Prime GO or any other stand alone (no laptop needed) / rechargeable controller. Your price rant was a lil funny because I think we all have complained about couples doing that to us as DJ's instead of looking at our value or what they need for their day.

I"m having mixed feelings about this. The pad modes not being able to change without touching the screen is a turn off.

I will not be buying this. Way over price. This might sound crazy but I still have CDs for back up. I use a CD mixer and can hock up my laptop. Great video Rick.
