New drug brings hope to end Alzheimer's - BBC News

Results out today confirm that the drug donanemab, hailed as a turning point in the fight against Alzheimer's, slows cognitive decline by about a third.
The antibody treatment helps in the early stages of the disease.
It works in Alzheimer's disease, not in other types of dementia, such as vascular dementia.
That is because it is designed to clear away one of the key features of Alzheimer's disease - a substance called amyloid that builds up in the spaces between brain cells.

@@theancientsancients1769 Thank you! The family did lots of research when we were given her prognosis and thought the same thing only to find out, (long story short) she's been sick for years already and when her brother died not to long ago, that's what (kinda?) triggered it and he was the only one who went with her to appointments and stuff and who knew about it (I come from an oldskool family who loves keeping health related stuff a secret 🤦🏾‍♀️) that's why nobody knew about it and why it was such a shock.

@@elkpaz560o how does a person prevent Alzheimers, the topic of this video? We do not know any life changes a person can take to prevent Alzheimers. THAT is why this is so important. The relationship between T3DM and AD is based on the fact that both the processing of AβPP and the clearance of Aβ are attributed to impaired insulin signaling in the brain. Additionally, it focuses on the molecular mechanism of brain insulin resistance that may involve either increased serine phosphorylation of IRS-1 protein (i.e., IRS-1 inhibition) and elevated degradation of IRS protein as common pathological mechanisms, including aggregation of toxic Aβ plaques, tau hyperphosphorylation and autophagy. Increasing the knowledge and awareness of the term T3D has the potential to pave the way for disease treatment, prevention and possibly even deliver a cure. Currently, there have been no particular treatments with established efficacy in counteracting cognitive decline or AD, so the implications of identifying AD as a disorder with an etiology rooted in faulty insulin signaling and irregular energy pathways could be critical in disease management. While the specific mechanisms between AD and all forms of diabetes remain convoluted and unclear, which subsequently may have devastating socioeconomic impacts on public health and healthcare systems, T3D has the potential to provide a plethora of proactive and therapeutic strategies to current patients. For now, it seems that the testing of more anti-T3D drugs with beneficial effects against cognitive impairment has a certain promising future.

Unfortunately youtube will not allow links. People can do their own search. Fact is that they were looking at the "plaque" in the brain as the potential problem and spent 16 years of research going down this road. Other research based on Type three diabetes has more promise. My father died of Alzheimers this year. It pisses me off while media focused on certain other medical events, this was a topic that rarely hit the headlines.

You are what you eat. Your diet impacts your health. Lower stress, reduce obesity and more exercise are key to a healthy life. Obesity in children and adults is rising across the world. Fast food and sugary drinks are contributing to the problem of poor health and obesity. Eat a healthy plant based diet and exercise regularly. Reduce or ELIMINATE cows milk, eggs, cheese and meat. Eat more salad greens, beans, fruit and vegetables. Eliminate fast food, snacks like cookies, cakes, chips, and sugary drinks and juices. Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly. Regular exercise will help you sleep better. Yoga is a great stress reducer. Obesity is all too common today. Get off the couch. Get off the phone, ipad or video game. A variety of stretching and other exercises help with increased mobility. Ride to work, ride to school, ride for fun. Every city should be a bicycle city. Speak up for bicycles in your community

Problem is that when you get to an age of around 200 nobody knows what would happen to the brain. As you take on information in your life it is added in your brain and stored there. Theories believe that if you did live an age way past your natural time, it could crash due to memory overload like a computer.
