New drug to treat Macular Degeneration is now available at The Eye Associates.

The FDA just approved Vabysmo by Genentech for the treatment of Wet Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Macular Edema. What sets this drug apart from the rest is that it can lengthen the time between injections. From 4 to 8 weeks up to 16 weeks.
Retina Specialist, Dr. Joshua Mali was the first in the Sarasota area to inject a patient this week with this new medication for the treatment of Wet Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Macular Edema.

Challenge for drug companies: Come up with a drug that can be administered as eye drops, instead of needle injections. This would be a major breakthrough. Note that they did not show the needle being injected into this man’s eye ball. It is hard to believe there is no pain involved. One thing that concerns me is increased eye pressure from the injections. These injections could lead to glaucoma. This issue is not addressed in this video. The man said that he could drive right after a treatment. I am no doctor, but I would think that it would not be wise for anyone receiving a treatment for vision should be driving afterwards.

I've had 4 injections of Vabysmo. Really helped. No way I could drive home. Having my wife drive is more scary than the injection.😊

My dad went through 2 yrs of painful injections to supposedly help his macular degeneration - Avastin only left him with permanent scarring.. which the scareing from reaction to Avastin ledt my dad blind …. Now what??

I eat just a lot of Lutain for 7 years and still can see. Not became worst.Japan.

From where do you get the Lutain? Do You have wet AMD and is Your vision already affected?

I was diagnosed with beginning Macular Degeneration when I went in to have cataract surgery. Doctor prescribed a Lutein, Zeaxanthin supplement and a list of vegetables to consume that has Lutein and Zeaxanthin in the.m. I will see how it goes in slowing down the effects of my Macular Degeneration. Won't cure it, but hopefully slows it down giving me more years of good sight.

@@JankoBerlakovic1984 Hello. Yes my right eye bacame effected nearly 8 years ago. I am using Contac lenses for over 20 years too and still using Contac lenses both eyes. I did not have operation and still see normally do far . Using sunglass outside and eating spinage, pumkin, corn.ect. foods with Lutain .and blueberry too.Contac lenses are helping me the best.Japan.

When Eylea was introduced we thought it would solve my wet AMD problems I have been injected every four weeks with Eyelea 8 times but the blood leaking has not stopped Is Vabysmo the answer or will Faricimab control the leaking blood?. This condition is also complicated by Glaucoma which I was told prevents any corrective surgery.

When discussiong new treatments for Macular Degeneration it's critical to differentiate between dry or wet , not just a general term. I'm surprised at these doctors.

These treatments are for approving wet MD, they have injections for dry MD, but it does not improve it. It just stabilizers your eyesight
