Thanks for the review Chopsy. Certainly a soiled underwear moment at that junction but the bike looked great and I loved the bark it gave when opening the throttle. Nice features like the sat nav integration, massive distance between major services and heated grips that actually work are a first for Ducati. Overall, a really nice bike with a four year warranty👏🤩

That junction wake up was dealt with very well. I once came unstuck coming from 200 miles of Motorway speeds down into my home town and could not slow for the roundabout and had to go round it the wrong way. Luckily no other cars on the dual carriageway

Wow what a moment at 16:45, worthy of a Hitchcock thriller. BTW signage on that road was awful, devilish junction, imagine it in the middle of the night! And the final touch, cherry on the cake, the fuel light roulette, who hasn´t done that? So you did get a few extra miles beyond "zero" range, good to know. I am seriously thinking of acquiring one of these, now that the teething problems have (hopefully) been ironed out - 1300GS anyone? - and your comments really helped. Pikes Peak would be THE bike but the price tag... Congrats for the vid and how you managed to keep it upright, AND that you didn´t edit it out.

Haha yeah, thought 'I'm coming off' I was so lucky the road was dry, otherwise never would have stopped. Thanks Chops - your vids given me more to think about - I had practically ruled out an adventure bike (on dirt wishing I was on something lighter and on the road wishing for something more capable), but that bike is really impressive. I note in the comments below, it all falls on you, for the overspeed on approach to the heart starter T junction. It would have preferable for better signage (larger - to account for setting sun), placed further in advance of the intersection. Particularly, in a road layout that partially obscures line of sight on approach. It's also a really good example of why you ride at the pace were carrying on the day - being not familiar with the road layout - not giving it 'all the beans' - leaving a lot in reserve for the unexpected. Well done, as always.

Carpal tunnel syndrome you meant. The only two occasions I've experienced that was after riding a guy's BSA Lightning 650 with clapped out main bearings and, much more frustratingly, a first year model of Yamaha I bought in 1983, namely a shaft driven XJ900 of 853cc, which left me with numb fingers at anything above 80mph for a longish spell. The subsequent nearer to the actual 900cc was reportedly silky smooth. As it happens, that bike almost killed me with an almost lock to lock tank slapper at 120mph, due to a design flaw of nosecone fitment. Still here, despite cervical myelopathy and a bloody stomach ulcer. Old age cometh not alone, as they say.

Still go for the GS with shaft drive, fuel range and extra dual road versatility. Ducati probably has more flair, I'd be more confident the GS would get the job done over ordinary roads. I'd enjoy riding along behind this bike on a GS.
@JohnJay1745
@JohnJay1745 2 жыл бұрын
I live in the U.S. and do most of my mileage on long rides in the western states. My typical trip is 4,000-7,000 miles, which translates to a bunch of chain maintenance. I too prefer shaft drive. Also, on long trips, I don't do much sport-riding. As such, the Multi's extra horsepower over the GS is mostly wasted on me. IMO the GS is the more practical choice.
@Ze-Germanzuk
@Ze-Germanzuk 2 жыл бұрын
Sadly the GS reliability is dreadful, I'd take one in a heartbeat but I've never met an owner that does big trouble free miles. Worst thing is minor issues putting the bike in limp mode and requiring a dealer visit. That's a deal-breaker when you're 2-3k miles from home and need to find a dealer to clear your codes.

Absolutely fabulous review, so true when you said this engine is wasted not being in the street fighter V4 ,how many tracks in UK where you can bring these 200bhp plus bikes on straights for any length of time to peak power, never mind on the road. Lowering the power on this engine, opening up midrange and low end, so engine can be enjoyed, even lower it to 150bhp then it would be fabulous. Torque everywhere.

Your all wrong on the Streetfighter V4S , I own one, as well as a M1200 R and an M1200S. Although the SF V4s is a digital bike, Ducati engineered the fastest most comfortable naked machine, that will go up against any other Race rep / naked made on the street, its that simple. Its also the best looking bike made in the world. It would not be better suited with the V4 Grand tourismo motor . Ive got 11,000 miles on my SF V4 S, and I have no complaints. All in all I have 8 motorcycles in my stable, from a big block Busa to an 84 GPz 1100, so I know what Im talking about. Great test on the Multi !

I now observe with IAM Roadsmart on a Gixer Thou or my Rninet, taking riders from near beginners, old hands, and those wishing to ride with BloodBike groups, Its all about getting the most from ourselves and bikes, and sharing knowledge, making new friends, while raising our game. 👍

I have a 2018 1260 and its an awesome bike but I've decided to trade it in for a KTM 690SMCR. I don't ride much on the roads anymore and all I need is a get around bike for short trips. I felt the Multi is way too much bike for that. My only complaint and isn't even really a complaint is it has too much power so if you what to ride in the proper RPM range it was designed your over 100mph just like that.

Great review as always Chopsy that V4 noise lovely. Love one in the garage but there would be no money left for chain lube.. looks like I'll be keeping the GS 😁

I know that junction as I live locally it’s easy to get caught out. Great review as usual Chopsy.

Yes Dan very nasty indeed. Not much warning it's coming either until your there. Defo needs to be some slow signs or yellow banding on the approach. Thought I must have missed signs on the approach but rewatching I didn't

Nice drone shots there and what a great bike!! Was wincing and clenching for you at the junction LCR came up very quickly! Saddle no good for JLO then?😁 PS. Did you hear TMF got stiffed?

Cracking riding country in Dorset, past Bovington tank garrison and onto Durdle can’t think of a better bike for the job. You mentioned a future test of the GSX GT which is almost half the price of the V4S 😳, both tourers so that should be interesting. Great review Chops thank you👍
