New England Patriots Rookie Minicamp took place over the weekend and there were a couple of players that really stood out in a different style of minicamp this year. Patriots GM Eliot Wolf drafted seven players during the 2024 NFL Draft, and this was the first time that the Patriots coaching staff was able to see the newest New England Patriots! Patriots Today host Harrison Graham breaks down the Patriots rookie minicamp, and which players stood out from this New England Patriots draft class! 3rd overall pick Drake Maye flashed his leadership and arm talent to the Patriots organization. The two rookie wide receivers, Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker, have already started to form a strong bond with franchise QB Drake Maye.

Winner: Drake Maye, QB

Drake Maye made a strong impression on his teammates and coaching staff at Patriots rookie minicamp. Head Coach, Jerod Mayo, did tell Patriots reporters that Maye has a lot to work on.
Ja’Lynn Polk and Drake Maye have formed a good bond as the two hope to sync up during the NFL Regular season. Maye and Polk were seen together at the Boston Bruins playoff hockey game.

"They look good. They made some plays in 7-on-7. I threw a couple behind them, and they still made the catches. I don't know if we have one on the ground yet, knock on wood. That's the goal to come here with the routes on air. Those guys are special players."

The real test for Maye is when other teams have enough tape to game plan for him. That's when he'll either rise or Mac Jones it.

Hope you are right, but the reality is many QBs never get that far. There's plenty of young prospects that start their career as an unknown but right away they face a D coordinator whose name isn't Matt Patricia and are overwhelmed, outmatched, and baffled. No book necessary.

Polk and Baker going to ball for Maye. Im feeling good. Im even pushing for a division title. I said pushing! If we happen to be a wild card team probably wont go far but i think this year is going to be a good build off for next year.

@@edbrit4893 Hey we had a top 5 D last year, that's still intact. The problem is that they were on the field for 35-40 minutes of the game, because the Offense was offensive! I believe that if the Offense can sustain drives, and score 20-24 ppg, the Pats are going to be the surprise team of the NFL this season! LFG!!

Bench him behind brisset for one year, let him learn the speed of the game in person. Let him develop and. Learn, brisset will be a great example for maye to learn what not to do and study the routes of every receiver and the play calling. Keep him healthy ultimately. Let’s see how this Oline does and draft a few more weapons next year for him.

Not a #3 overall! Maybe not from Game 1, beginning of the season, but by middle of season has to be a no-brainer.

Even 8-9 wouldn't be too far-fetched. Problem would be injuries. Major injuries like those to Rhamondre Stevenson, Gonzalez and Judon last year really hurt.

@@joerosa25328 & 9 or even 7 & 10 won't be bad if they noticeably better in their last 5 games than they are in their first 5. 4 &13 was bad, but the worst part not looking any better in week 17 than they did in week 2. The same mental error penalties, the same WRs running wrong routes, and blockers barely slowing down the rush & not even close to stopping it.

I think this is a fair assessment and would agree. We will see some decent progress this year next year I think we could be a wild card team and in 3 years a possible contender if our draft picks pan out

I'd put my excitement at about a 6, he's pretty raw and the team is still lacking proven support on offense. Confidence in the receiving corp and O-line is pretty low but im optimistic it will improve. I don't expect Drake to play until Jacoby gets hurt or they're eliminated from contention. Im just happy Drake looks and feels like a NFL QB, unlike Mac.

2025 is too early. Unless they make some big moves next off season, or during this season. Maye doesn't have the help he needs (assuming Maye is as good as hoped). But they seriously need a true #1 wr. A veteran, preferably.

Cuz that was severely disappointing seeing as tho they had the 2nd most cap space to spend and they got Antonio Gibson and kj osborn. Like wtf?!

A good program would be to sit drak maye .. let him watch jacoby play these teams and let drake play vs the teams we play twice ..but let him play the second time we play them and rate him from there . . Should be jets, Miami, bills, on the second appearance.. that way he has studied them .. seen our offense against them.. and would be a great three games to see him versus. Honestly i would have traded that 3rd pick for 6th and other picks next year to trade up for ( sheduer Sanders ) but this year i would have taken Pennix at 6 .. hes a more ready prospect than drake maye.. sat him for a few games.. give jacoby about 6 games minimum and let Pennix start vs the teams we played tge second time around and evaluate from there .. i trade Cole strange long ago also juju smithshuster , kyle Dugger and kevin harris ( maybe Josh uche, if i can get high enough returns and possibly hunter henry )

DRAKE MAYE AND JOE MILTON NEED TO SIT IN BENCH THIS YEAR BECAUSE IT TAKES TIME TO DEVELOP THEIR SPEED, FOOTWORK, AND ACCURACY. AND NEXTYEAR DRAFT ANOTHER TALENT WR, TE, RB AND O-LINE FOR DRAKE MAYE AND JOE MILTON.

The only real issue with Cole Strange is he isn't he isn't a good enough football player to play in the NFL. If it wasn't for that, they'd be all set at RG.

It just looks like people are trying to force the drake Maye talk as if he's done something amazing yet .. when he hasn't.. it's real fanboy style to just keep praising someone who hasn't really been amazing..but you just want them to be .. hey let me do six interviews 3 guys on offense and 3 guys on defense... But ask all of them about Drake maye all day... I'm sure these players are annoyed at some point.. I can see that happening. Never interview me and just talk to me about how some other guy is great .. rudeness..but pure fanboy stuff. I wouldn't sit Drake for a year .. I'd give him minimum of 3 games at the very least..of teams the second time around that we play.. Miami , jets, buffalo.. to get him some in game real reps outside of the preseason.. but Jacoby is my starter .. Milton is my project and only sees preseason.. until next year . If Zappe still on team he's QB 2 .. and may get work so he can be trade bait if need be.

Honestly..I'm tired of hearing leadership, and how big a guy is to explain how great of a player he is in fans heads.. when the responsibilities are to do your job..at your position. Hit open targets manage the game take opportunities that will cement a win.. the coach is the Leader of the team period ..not the QB.. 😅 the coach calls the plays ..the QB follows the script period .. him communicating to the offense is part of the job for all QBs in the NFL ! So are all QB's in the NFL leaders ?? No .. the position calls for you to communicate with teammates and hit targets .. a great QB does his job greatly and doesn't have to lead but he does communicate the plays .. is that leadership?? No he's relying the info .. he's put in position to do so .. faux leadership here.. he's just telling them what he was told .. if they all do there job good or greatly .. what can he say ? I'm upset with the idea that seems behind this leadership crap other players know the playbook too .. not just the QB .. you fans just follow media hype and every inch they spout.. it's annoying. Being 6'5" etc doesn't make you an automatic amazing player at any position.. so that's the other annoying thing.. so many failed 6'3" to 6'7" players in general..let alone QB's..
