Jill, it's easy to recover your chair seats. You take the old one off, use as template for new fabric. Maybe Sunbrella?

lol that’s why I’m having second thoughts. But the whole family really badly wants a family dog, Kiki is an old grouchy lady that only wants me and they want a dog that wants to play. Kiki doesn’t play 🤣

Use rubbing alcohol on the paint...it may have to soak but rubbing alcohol breaks down acrylic and water paints...coming from an artist...then use dish soap to finish getting up what it doesn't...
