I heard gimme chocolate when it first went viral in 2014 or so, thought it was brilliant fun but it didn't hook me to continue following the band. This exact video showed up on my feed a couple of years ago, I thought why not see what else they did, and was completely hooked. I don't know if this is my favorite in a tier list sort of ranking, it might be, but I do think it is the single most perfect Babymetal performance if that makes any sense.

@@j-swagjr Also, Koba is a big X-Japan fan, and he tries to pay tribute to this band whenever he can. The middle section with the anthemic chant is an homage to one of X-Japan's most famous songs "Endless Rain". Before disbanding they had a stadium concert where they sang that song at the end of their show. The audience was singing the chorus repeatedly with them and continued even after the musicians left the stage. One of the most beautiful/heartbreakingly emotional moments I have ever seen in a concert.

The first Kami band, the East Kami Band, was/is made up of top session musicians with jazz, rock and metal backgrounds. They have/had side projects and that is one of the reasons the West Kami Band was formed. The West Kami Band is made up of members of Galactic Empires and Shadow of Intent. They also have side projects (one of the guitarists played for Ice Nine Kills) but are pretty much exclusive to Babymetal during tours.

Great reaction. Sounds like DragonForce you say? No coincidence - Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce didn't write the song or anything, but they did the guitar arrangements (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. They have said they made this more technical and faster than most of their own songs thinking they would never have to play it live ... and that they had to practice hard when they did perform it with BABYMETAL at an awards show in London later in 2015 (there are a couple of not great quality videos of that performance if you're curious). Yes, this was the Kami Band of course. In this concert they were Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars with BOH on his 6 string bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. This video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su-metal was 17, Yuimetal and Moametal only 15 and that was over 20,000 people completely under their control. Even at that age Su just looks at the crowd, spreads her arms and the crowd opens up for a wall of death that transformed into the circle pit after the initial rush (actually several walls of death. A journalist up in the balcony that night said he counted, I think it was, 21 mosh pits). This was also the end of a 90 minute concert - they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time (no wonder they were sweating). It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world. About the song itself - 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy road to follow. I don't know who told you that about Band Maid. They are no relation to (certainly not older sisters - they are older, but BABYMETAL formed 3 years before them) and not even much like BABYMETAL beyond being Japanese and female. They are more of your traditional style hard rock band doing what hard rock bands do, very much like a lot of bands I was listening to 20/30 years ago - they are good at it of course. It is largely thanks to BABYMETAL kicking the doors open and being so notable that a lot of the other Japanese bands you've been recommended have come to attention outside of Japan and some have also started touring.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。The crowd involvement (mosh pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. This anthemic song was played in almost all of BM shows and the audience's reaction is always similar to it in this video. In your video, Su shouted some words at 09:56 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She has shouted it occasionally since then and when she does, it is with her friendly smile and mild voice that I love 😄 (FYI : I love BABYMETAL and Band-Maid as well)

Thanks for the reaction. I am a fan of BABYMETAL from Japan. Yes, this was the ending of a live concert called the "New Year Fox Festival" held in January 2015. The girls were sweating because they had just finished a nearly two-hour show. I have been to several BABYMETAL shows, and I have rarely seen them sweating, so it was a very precious scene. On the other hand, I can't help but wonder why they don't sweat when they do that much exercise for over 100 minutes with almost no rest. By the way, YUIMETAL is called "Angel of Dance" and MOAMETAL is called "Angel of Smile". SU-METAL, as you know, is the "Queen".

Yui and Moa were choosen for the heavy music club aka Babymetal because of their similar looks, statue, and compatible voices. Despite all of that it is easy (at least for me) to differentiate them. Moa has kawaii dimples! ❤🤘🔥🦊 Btw they still sweat during their live shows but they’ve learned to conserve and manage their stamina for the duration and improved it with constant practice and training. It’s no wonder they were sweating so much earlier on since they always give 120%. Moa said in an interview that she almost passed out after a show due to the sheer exhaustion since she run on full throttle from the start.

Yes, BM's "true" big sisters are the long-time super group Perfume, also in the Amuse staple. There's pictures of them all together and you get a sense of BM's respect for them. Their strongest connection is Mikiko, their choreographer. I would suggest the OP get to know Perfume (I love their vid, Spinning World) and you will immediately see Mikiko's hand.

Hell yeah dude! This is definitely a Babymetal anthem about the courage to carve an uncharted path towards your goals. Very reflective of Babymetal's own journey starting pioneering this style of music and getting established. This has been a staple show closer for almost a decade, with this performance (Jan 2015) as the live debut in Japan (1st live debut in London end of 2014). Su-metal has said in interviews that one thing she noticed is that Road of Resistance always ilicits a very similar crowd response from every country she toured in. Easy way to tell apart Yui & Moa: Yui has glove on right hand, Moa's is on her left hand. Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce co-wrote guitars, and played the guitars for the studio recording. They also snuck Babymetal into Download Festival and played with them on stage as a guest at Download 2016, and officially with them again at the Metal Hammer awards show. This was Kami East and they are some of the best session musicians in Japan. While they have side projects, they primarily supported Babymetal fully from 2014 - 2021. Due to increased touring intensity, Covid, and Babymetal's 2021/2022 hiatus, Kami East took on many other projects, and some had personal/family commitments with less availability. Starting Apr 2023, Kami West became their exclusive backing band. It is unsure if Kami East will return. Next suggestion: *Rond of Nightmare (Budokan 2014):* Su's solo, and a Kami Band showcase. 🤘🦊

Everyone is saying the kamiband members have side projects, but I think it might be more fair to say that Babymetal is a side project. They were already well established session musicians and have their own projects, bands, or solo careers as well. The kamiband does not really exist as a band outside of Babymetal. The musicians have sometimes collaborated for special performances. Mikio, BOH, and Yuya Maeta formed a jazz/fusion trio called the Kariband ("temporary" band), a deliberate pun as all 3 have played as members of the kamiband. There are some Music Videos published on KZfaq. They often played with a guest artist. As far as big sister group to Babymetal, that would be J-pop trio Perfume as they have the same Agency, choreographer, and Actor's School Hiroshima in common with Su-. As a teenager Su- was known to fan girl a bit when the two groups had a chance to meet. Obviously, not that related musically.

4:06 5:04 _"Now Pizza time (Pizza time!)"_ 🦊🤘🍕 (you stopped in the same timeline twice smh) Welcome back to the Foxhole🦊🤘🔥 Nice to see you with this suggestion to follow your BM journey, just like here it was the ender for almost every show at the World Tour 2023/2024 and everyone loved to have fun with this one such recently at the Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas, they just did a fun interview about it and you can see they were excited with Slipknot returns, they were very supportive during early era or Metal Resistance chapter (that's the title inside the lore), also they play this at San Francisco as part of the Babyklok Tour along with Dethklok, and btw DragonForce were there playing too, another supportive band since BM beginning career and also involved in the album version of this song as well some live collabs together around those years. "Road Of Resistance" is a power/speed metal song, it's one of their most epic anthem and the album version got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce. It's all about facing your own path without looking back. This was part of the Trilogy Of 2015, live at New Year Fox Festival - Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, by this time their fame was already high due to viral success on YT of Gimme Chocolate! MV, people from all over the world attended this live concert in Japan, and 20K souls witnessed this epic moment. With only 15 and 17 years old this moment will be forever remember when they're performing this song to reminds them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages. The Kami Band here are magnificent set of elite musicians whom were send to help with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarists). They are: - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums. - Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly past away) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but his fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. - Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene. At the end of their shows they always said "We are BabyMetal!" with the crowd, to making them sure that they're part of this show and project too, is a line borrowed to X-Japan saying it at live concerts too. Next suggestion to meet a SuMetal solo along with a Kami Band intro: - Rondo Of Nightmare with Mischief Of Metal Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014. Btw, the only official "big sisters" of BabyMetal is the Jpop/edm group "Perfume", both got the same dance choreographer but they don't play metal/rock songs and don't a have a band on stage, some BM guides usually did mention about this but maybe the one you saw didn't. See you next time 🦊🤘🔥

Great reaction! Sounds familiar? Very similar to "Through the Fire and Flames"? Maybe that´s because Sam Totman and Herman Li lend their helping hands writing, arranging and playing the song (the latter for the studio version, of course!) 😉 Herman Li is supposed to have said, that they have written the song to be extremely demanding technically, not anticipating that they will have to play it themselves in the near future 🤣 The Kami Band (East) mastered it, tho. Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura at the guitars are true Kami when they play together! They sound amazing! As well as BOH at the Bass and Hideki Aoyama at the drums. The East Kamis are legends (the West Kamis are, too!). Did you listen to Yui singing the "Wohooohohoooo!" part? No? Time to do the "Yuibanger" then 😉 She had a very nice, kawaii singing voice back then! This was the ending song of a 90+ Minutes set, that´s why they were sweating. The official version lacks about 2/3 of the "We are BABYMETAL!" part, they said "Good bye" to the whole audience, running around from one end of the stage to the other end and in the middle and back... They gave 110% for the whole concert, it was a joy to watch (on video in my case. I didn´t know of their existence when this concert happened 😕). Yes, "Road Of Resistance" is their anthem, no doubt. Basically, the lyrics tell what BABYMETAL did when it all started. Go down a road against any resistance, but even if there is no road, make one!

Well…it is quite usual to bump into Band Maid after falling into the foxhole with Babymetal, especially if you are more Hard-rock oriented. At least that’s what happened to me, with Babymetal functioning as a sort of gateway for everything Japanese. Then Lovebites if you are more metal-oriented (as well as Nemophila). Personally I like those four a lot. Then if you want a metal core version of Babymetal, so to speak, you should try Hanabie and Passcode. And if you want a version of Babymetal going completely bonkers crazy (admitting that’s possible, and, yes, I learned that’s possible, both vocally and instrumentally)…well, that band is Broken By The Scream

Truly capturing lightning in a bottle back in the day. Astounding live rebuttal against metal purists who derided Gimme Choco & their Sonisphere 2014 set as gimmicky, & which wowed veteran rock musicians overseas into defending BM. Crazy thing is RoR wasn't even officially released at that time. Yet the 20,000 crowd knew what to do, simply based on fancams of the song's live debut at London some two months earlier, & the audio track available as a limited downloadable bonus days before this Saitama show. The 4-member Kami Band East on this seminal night were Ohmura, Leda, Boh & Aoyama. Mikio also tweeted a pic of him & Yuya backstage. The Kami Band East era consisted of 20 musicians in total. Core lineup: - guitarists Takayoshi Ohmura, Leda Cygnus, Mikio Fujioka (RIP), ISAO - bassist BOH - drummer Hideki Aoyama - drummer Yuya Maeta was also a honorary member after filling in for most of the 2014 gigs (except Red Night/Black Night, Sonisphere), although he has since moved on. Other one-time semiregulars: - violinist MIZ (BM Death Match Tour in May 2013 before the Kami Band instrumental solos took over) - guitarist Yasutaka Nomura (Lady Gaga support gigs in Aug 2014) - bassist Isamu Takita (Guns N' Roses support gigs in Jan 2017) - drummer Kado Shuntaro (RHCP support gigs in Apr 2017) - guitarist Yusuke Hiraga (Judas Priest support gig/Oz music festivals in Dec 2018) Other one-off stand-ins, mostly when Koba was trying to form a permanent ensemble: - BM's first-ever live band (guitarists Hiroki Arai, Shiren; bassist RYO, drummer SHIN at the two I,D,Z - Legend I gigs on Oct 6, 2012) - bassist IKUO (2013) - drummer Shuki Maeta (2013) - guitarist Shinichi Kobayashi (2013) - drummer Eiji Matsumoto (2018) From BM's US Tour 2019 onwards, Koba decided to employ a new Kami Band West for overseas gigs (American musicians only, reportedly in part to resolve the travel visa issue), with the Kami Band East initially consigned to Japan gigs (given that the domestic musicians also have other projects).

The Kami Bands members have had many solo projects over the years, a history that is too long and complex to go into here. But here is the most well known performance of what could be considered to be BM's original Kami Band before Mikio's untimely passing. It's mind-blowing. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hrN6ZbWcvtHMcXU.html It's actually worth a "blind reaction" on it's own.

yEAH, they doned down their choreography quite a lot, so they don't sweat as much as they used to do! Some members of the Kami Band do have side projects: for example, if you like Jazz, you can look up the "Kari Band"! It has Boh (the bassist), Mikio (RIP) and Yuya Maeta (who played drums for BM a few times) About Moa and YUi being so similar, it was done on purpose! I don't hide that I also struggled quite a lot at the beginning 😆

This song is a collab of BABYMETAL and Dragonforce , Yui use the glove on the right hand and Moa on the left. This is the best version of this song! Thank you!!! 🤘🦊

You can easily spot the EASTERN Kamis by the ESP guitars, especially when Takayoshi Ohmura uses his glittering "Pink-chan", and most time the bassist is BOH, who is bold and plays a 6-stringer. In addition if they are dressed in white, it's the eastern Kamis. When the band has hairy arms, it's surely the Western Kami. As for Dragonforce, I'm sure someone has already wrote a comment about this haha. Greets from Germany and enjoy!

Band Maid has nothing to do with Babymetal. Don't know who told you they were "older sisters". Honestly the fan bases don't get along that well as the Band Maid fan base (Maidiacs) usually looks down on Babymetal since they "don't play their own instruments". Don't get me wrong Band Maid is good and you should listen to them but be prepared for a bit of "discussion" between The One and the Maidiacs.

As you pointed out, Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce participated in the recording of "Road of Resistance". According to Sam Totman, they intentionally made the guitar parts more difficult because they had never expected to play it on stage at the time of recording, but they had to practice hard when they were asked to play the guitar at the "METAL HAMMER GOLDEN GODS AWARDS 2015 CEREMONY" held in June 2015. "Road of Resistance" has been the ending song for live performances since 2015, but before that, "Ijime, Dame, Zettai", which was highly praised by British people at their first overseas festival, was the ending song. This song is also a masterpiece, so I recommend you to listen to the "Ijime, Dame, Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014, UK (OFFICIAL)" version.

"Road OF Resistance" A common mistake: first, a road usually goes TO a place; and, second, some folk don't always read what's in front of them - they tend to flll in blanks that aren't there. They read what they want it to say rather than what it does say (happens to me all the time). Anyway . . . . To the best of my knowledge, none of BABYMETAL's official videos have subtitles. Might I suggest you look up the lyrics before reacting to the video if it's that important to you. Also, I don't think it's in good taste to interrupt one song (especially a BABYMETAL song) with another. I suggest you go back to the beginning, and react to their first two music videos, "Doki Doki Morning" and "Iine!" (pronounced "E-nay"), both released in 2012. You’ll notice those are the first two on this list of these recommended songs (along with suggested versions). The first sixteen are from what I've come to call "The Golden Age of BABYMETAL" or simply "The Yui Era": Doki Doki Morning (official music video) Iine! (official MV) Gimme Chocolate!! (official MV or Legend 1997 Apocalypse version) Megitsune (official MV) BABYMETAL Death (Legend 1997 Apocalypse version) [for those who are religiously sensitive, see the Budokan Black Night 2014 version] Onedari Daisakusen (Legend 1997 Apocalypse version) Song 4 No Uta (Budokan Black Night 2014 version) Uki Uki * Midnight (Budokan Black Night 2014 version) Catch Me If You Can (Budokan Black Night 2014 version) Ijime, Dame, Zettai (Live at Sonisphere 2014 version) Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! (Legend 1997 Apocalypse version) Road of Resistance (Legend 2015 New Year Fox Festival version) [DONE] Karate (official MV) Meta Taro (Five Fox Festival version) GJ! (Fox Festival 2017 version) Sis Anger (Fox Festival 2017 version) Shanti Shanti Shanti (official MV) Pa Pa Ya!! (official MV) BxMxC (official MV) Metalizm (official MV) Metali!! (official MV) I would include the links but, for some reason, KZfaq sometimes thinks I'm posting spam and will delete my comment. For the links, see the KZfaq playlist “BABYMETAL Top Twenty”; it is a mix of MV’s and live performances, is more or less in historical sequence, and could be considered a road map down the BABYMETAL foxhole. If nothing else, it can be used as a reference to find high quality versions of BABYMETAL songs without mucking about - if they are on the list. Anyway . . . . It appears that you already have some BABYMETAL under your belt but it seems to me that you've been reacting to BABYMETAL doing covers of BABYMETAL. Not to take anything away from those performances but I think you should take in original performances before delving into the more recent ones. Another recommendation (read "challenge"): react to an entire BABYMETAL concert. I suggest "Legend 1997 Apocalypse" and/or "Budokan Black Night" (2014). There are playlists for both on the HEAD123456 KZfaq channel. Both concerts are, in a word, incredible. Enjoy your trip down the foxhole! Keep rockin' BABYMETAL!!! KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

Yui & Moa really don't look alike, as you easily identified them with close-up freeze-frames. But dressed alike, with the same hairstyle, and constantly moving, it can be hard to tell in long shots.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏴 🏴 🏴 "Stand up and shout, Shout!, Justice Forever!" - (Road of Resistance) - Pretty much a master class in audience control. BABYMETAL believe that if a song sounds too much like one genre, then it's not a BABYMETAL song. You can definitely feel the speed metal in this one though. This performance was at Saitama Super Arena (SSA) in January of 2015, with a sold out crowd of over 20,000. Lead singer Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal) first appeared at SSA in 2008 as the youngest member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old. It was while she was with that group that BABYMETAL's producer Kei Kobayashi (Kobametal, or Koba) became aware of Su and her "no holds back" style of singing. So he decided to build a metal group around her. : ) This is what happens when BABYMETAL's songwriters get the assignment to write a metal anthem in the DragonForce style.
