The price increase from hobie is crazy . I want to get a passport but it cost what the compass used to be price $1800 . Compass is over 2k now

I wanted a hobie compass but ended up with a native slayer 10. Hobie has big time issues with cracking where their seats rest on the hull especially the compass. Put your hand on the rear seat mounts and put downward pressure and it flexes like crazy with no support. Hobie also having only a 3 yr warranty on the hull tells you they are not confident in their product but still charge a premium price. A lifetime warranty like other manufacturers offer sounds better especially for the prices hobie charges.

The compass is not the only kayak that I have seen Issues with. Had a lot of customers come in with PAS and newer Outback’s, the plastic by the seat is just super, super thin, and is too pliable. A piece of foam would be a bandaid on a gunshot with the plastic being soft. As far as the warranty, it doesn’t necessarily mean a product is untrustworthy, Jackson kayaks doesn’t have a lifetime warranty, but I have never had to repair anything on them, or seen a customer have an issue with one. Only major thing I saw people post on was the drive line becoming unraveled, which Jackson just sends a new one (or 2) without issue. Where customers from Hobie are having to pay for a new drive entirely for a bad bearing. Which is supposedly fixed now in their drive.

@@Ailton.Junior bought the regular native slayer 10 not the slayer max 10. Got the regular slayer 10 due to it being lighter than the max.

4:00 the thread that holds the pad eye for the seat holder will strip on the compass. I did not want to deal with it. Sold mine.

I got mine for $1000 at rei cuz customer returned it because the 180 drive was defective, and it was too long. never been in water, REI ordered the wrong drive, so they took the price of the drive out which is just the standrd drive with kickup fins. No reverse, and then there was also a 40% off sticker on it.. had 3 employees over there who were confused, why it was so cheap.. but they honored it.. after tax $1132... didn't even have a way to haul it, but i just bought an f150 and the dealership threw in a Thule kayak rack. Now i just need to register it, and get on the water.. been a crazy week.

The only upgrade i believe they should be worried about is stability thats it, fishermen put alot of money on a kayak when we go out just in gear alone not to mention our lives come on engineers work on design !

I bought a floor model 2021 Compass for $2100 and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I think the 21 was a better boat than the new model. I have the molded in rod holders and I feel like my seat is nicer too. Same drive and everything else though. I’m also surprised to see the camo no longer comes with the turbo fins like they used to.

I moved away from Hobie because of the price increases. I went with Oldtown coz I can order them through the base here in Japan. The only dealer out of Okinawa wants ¥654,500-¥677,600 for an Outback. I just noticed Oldtown also jacked up their prices. I may just go back to a Jon Boat next time around.

The Hobie is the Standard. The price is not a good. It's a stripped down version at a full blown price. I still like the Old Town better. The hat was a good cheap stay warm option. I prefer the dark blue ones. The best "sock hat" are made of 2 thicknesses thick. I have been in temps down to -25F and was warm enough using such a hat. Aliex, I like that you do a individual video of each boat. I would also like a kind of overview video looking at all the new boats specifying all the changes for 2023, from each manufacturer, available on all the models. Kind of an Aliex F. boat show of all the new and great that came out this year, so far. Sure there will be more things changed through the year as strides are made. You could make a separate video (preferred), or cobble one together through editing.

I was going to get an auto pilot this year but no they raised their price also. I’m better off with a jon boat with a xi3 gps.

I have both hobie and an oldtown. Old Town increased their price this year without making any upgrades or features. Ridiculous

What's up with the seat, how does that work? It looks like it drops to a lower position, right? edit: I looked at some other video's and see the seat's been this version for a while. Seems to me they could include a better seat for that money.

Looking at new kayaks again after 20yrs and like bikes the prices for some are out of control. you have to have a screw loose to pay 5K for one...kayaks 2k tops that's all they're worth, Cracking issues ...forget it. a 5K boat should have a redesign if its cracking. The compass has poor adjustment on the seats, poor seats in general, built in cup holders are useless. so many better choices out there, and Action Water sports is a good dealer
