I enjoyed your review. A couple of things though, the lowest mode is not "echo" mode. It's eco mode. As in economy. Second, the 3000 lumen turbo mode does not last 2 hrs and 50 minutes. Look again at the box. There is an asterix on the run time for turbo mode. The turbo mode typically will last somewhere between 40 seconds and about a minute and a half, continuous. It's partly dependant on the ambient temperature. The colder it is the longer it lasts before stepping down to the next mode beneath it (1000 lumens) to prevent overheating and damaging the battery and the led. Turbo mode is primarily for short bursts of a minute or less. It gets too hot in that mode to be used for extended periods.

I have stacks and stacks of high dollar and "the latest greatest thing" flashlights that everyone over on Candlepowerforums and such gush over. If I am going out some of the others end up in the car, some in the pack, but my Fenix UC30 ends up in my pocket. It's easy to use, the modes are good, it has a USB port to charge, and has always just felt right. Fenix is more expensive than some of the other companies but they just seem to release finished products. Thrunite, Olight, Nitecore, basically the other big chinese light makers always seem to have SOMETHING I don't like. Fenix just gets it right.

I always liked Streamlight’s options but if you’ve tried both brands…might give Felix a look for an EDC light.
@BrianRRenfro

@@ninjasquirrels Streamlight makes good lights but they always seem to be a bit behind on newer tech BUT expensive even with the older tech. Don't get me wrong, they are usually solid lights and REALLY don't release a light until it's right but man...the charge for it! I have a Streamlight on my shotgun and used to carry them back in the halogen days when they were king but I just find they don't justify the premium anymore. That being said I think Fenix is great in the middle sized range lights. The single 18650 lights. Smaller lights like single RCR123 lights, other people do better. Larger lights other people do better. But that light in this size range, for the money, Fenix kicks ass at. Which is where the classic Streamlight territory is.
@BrianRRenfro
@BrianRRenfro 2 жыл бұрын
@@ninjasquirrels Point is I have used them both and they are a great flashlight for the money. Streamlight makes great flashlights too, just more money, but honestly there IS something to be said for having a classic, well regarded, name in your pocket. That DOES count for something! A pair of aviators from another brand may be just as good but I prefer my Randolph Engineering pair...cause I just know the quality and the history is there.

Turbo mode is like Light Saber mode!
@yourpalcraig
@yourpalcraig Жыл бұрын
I have the same problem with this light that I have with the denizens pd36r pro. 3000 lumens is too much for the lights of this size to be cranking out. You get turbo for around 15 seconds before the light gets too hot to hold and around 45 seconds before it steps down to much much much lower output. Advertising turbo for 2.5 hours when it only can really last for about almost a minute is false advertising. They put an asterisk letting you know that it steps down and runs on low for the remaining 2 hours and 29 minutes though. This is a shame because you’re basically paying more for a 1000 lumen light that’s really nice, as I do like fenix.. just not these new 3000 lumen models.

Why does evedy light need to be below 30 lumens at the lowest in order for it to not be a deal breaker?
@WeldingForJesus
@WeldingForJesus 28 күн бұрын
@@MemphisMojo15sBecause it is a reading light mode. Up to 5 lumen is ok I'd say, but 30 is likely to reflect on white paper and blind the reader.
@MemphisMojo15s
@MemphisMojo15s 28 күн бұрын
@@WeldingForJesus I understand that part of it, but not all lights are small enough to have that low of an output on Eco, or they may have a much higher lumen output and 5 or less lumens wouldn't make sense. Example I can use is my LR35R..it is 10k lumens but the Eco is 50 lumens. I love the 30 lumen Eco and I do believe the reason Fenix has such higher Eco lumens is because most of their customer base requests it. I have a E09R and it is super super tiny but has a 600 lumen burst, but the lowest is so low that even in the darkest of dark, it's difficult to see much. I guess it depends on the person. Keep welding for Jesus!! He is coming soon 🙏🙌
@WeldingForJesus
@WeldingForJesus 27 күн бұрын
@@MemphisMojo15s For me personally, low mode is used for sneaking to bed without waking up my better half since I work nights and go to bed around 3-4 a.m. and neither wish to trip and stumble nor shine so bright that it'd disturb her sleep. As such, a 1 lumen output works, though barely, 30 is a bit on the bright side, but 5-15 is pretty much spot on. I can still understand people that use a moonlight mode for pure reading, at least on the small to mid size lights. And yes, I know the time is very short judging by the state of things. We may not know the day or the hour, but I'd say we are in the season. God bless!
