I hope you make another video once the new Benchmark comes out to compare these shots against the newer versions so that we can visually see what, if anything, has changed. I found this comparison a lot more useful than the 90 minute livestream as their stream quality was just way too low for me to fully appreciate all the work that they've put into this graphics update.

I'm SO happy with the graphics update! It's so much work from the developers, but it helps tremendously in making the game look less dated. I think that's huge for the continued longevity of FF14, and I'm really glad that the devs have the foresight to dedicate the resources to this task of essentially remastering the game.

i am sorry, but i just dont consider this graphics update as even hitting the minimum. i rather would like for them to give us round fluffy tails, 3 dimensional trees or... better ground textures for... basically everything... stuff like the aura scales are great! but... i feel like there are things in game that need new graphics much more urgently

It was clear to me that the environment in the benchmark character creator didn't get the update, but that didn't stop me to actually see how good the improvements are. People were exaggerating all the "Issues", I'm still glad they addressed it though. All my char presets looked fabulous in the benchmark and I'm definitely making a Cat Mom for the new MSQ. I still wish that the benchmark was available to everyone, but I know this is the point of the benchmark to provide feedback and to make improvements. But overall I’m still very impressed with what we saw, ang I can’t wait to see how my bun boy looks in Dawntrail.

My Lalafell boy was immune to the faulty lighting it seems. There is an issue with soulless eyes. Mine is a milky white Dunesfolk, it's soulless as it should be. The shape of the face was another issue but my Lalafell face is still round. With closer inspection, it's even more round. And the texture being dull and flat, my Lalafell often gets mistaken with minions, a lifeless doll. It's all as it should be.

My Au Ra looks so good with the update! The big thing I noticed was they improved the texture on the lips for face 1 and also made the chin less point on the female model so it looks more round and natural. I was going to switch to viera but after the update im keeping my au ra and might add the limbal ring since it looks like they majorly improved that! I didnt like how much it stood out before the update so its nice it is more blended now

I'm just looking forward to all the new stuff to see and do, honestly! Content to run, glams to acquire, new crafts and new treasure maps, heck yeah!!! Also re the benchmark changes: My fem duskwight elezen uses the roundest face shape, and it seems they slimmed it down a bit??? Her mouth now looks too wide for her face, but luckily there is another option I like! So tl;dr I like the changes for the most part and the one thing I don't I can easily fix with the free fantasia ^^

I had to recreate my WoL to check how they'll look in Dawntrail, since I'm a console pleb. Although I couldn't pick my actual hairstyle, my character looked so damn good. I was a little afraid at first, because there were a lot of unsatisfied people, saying that their WoL's have been changed beyond recognition.

Thanks for all your work and efforts! I play as male miqo'te and I absolutely love the improvement of graphics in dawntrail. Even though I have to wait for dawntrail to enjoy(bc I'm playing this game in KR server), I am so glad about this upcoming expansion. I really love your content, and I look forward to watching more videos about FF14.

I put my hellsguard femroe through the benchmark and I'm pretty disappointed. They softened her nose smudge and pretty significantly changed the shape of her lips. And every time I tried to take a screenshot of her in the benchmark, she came out looking so sad. YoshiP, you gave my character depression! D:

The new graphics really speeding up my interests in alt characters. If only because I'm so attached to my OC.

I thought the characters faces looked worse. I mean, the texture quality being higher is great, and I like the changes to the au ra horns, but the changes to the faces appearances coupled with everyone looking oily now is um... yeah... especially Veena, Idk what happened there.

That free Fantasia will hopefully be my last. So I’m very excited to change over to the Elezen race with their new and improved look, right before Heavensward

What im looking forward to the most is Square Enix fixing the keeper fangs...

i didnt see the fluffy tail problem till you pointed it out and now i cant unsee it (im a fluffy tail catboy so this may have me change my entire character i have been playing for 10 plus years D: )

I played ff14 last year for the first time in many years as an Au ra and during the last couple of days before my 30 days were up, I switched to viera and cat to try them out since I didn't like my scales anymore. Now I'm planning on going back to being an Au ra but for some reason, I can't help but be enticed by Vieras even though I can't get it to feel like my WoL. Nonetheless, I'm super excited for Dawntrail and I plan to main viper both story/rp reasons and because I spent most of my time as a ninja

Strange. I just logged into early access and turned the graphics to max. But the difference seems to be almost negligible

To be frank they made a lot of minor changes like chin shape, eye shape and so on, that taken altogether, I would consider it a substantial change. It's understandable if people are too used to the old designs and want to just port the exact face shapes to the new graphics, but calling the new looks bad is just dishonest.

I'm really happy with the update, my character really looks better. Although... he doesn't look quite the same. Thing is, I don't know if he's really that different or if it's just my eyes being unreasonably picky after having watched that same character nod through 500 hours of cutscenes.😅 I'm looking forward to the updated benchmark to see if it "fixes" him, but either way I'm very hyped with the updated graphics.

I want to see if my outfits can be dyed the way I want with second dye channel! I want the accents on my Drachen armor to be a lighter metallic color than they are (to contrast with dark color) - basically the same as the highlights on Wyrm gear.

Just want to put this here for any Keeper of the Moon players, they recently showed the fangs off again in another live letter, so you shouldn't worry about loosing your fangs.

During character creation I wasnt that impressed... but then I heard they didnt update the lighting there, so there's that. What I immediatly noticed were the eyes - love 'm ^.^ Also, the characters look way more life-like ingame than in the creation screen. Other than that... Please, fix the fluffy tails. Give the poor highlander their eyebrowns! And even though this might be a lighting thing but... I want my black hair back! The current version is... well, dark grey. And talking about hair... you just need to compare the old hairstyles with the single new one... its night and day. I *loved* what they did with the Roegadyns! I may not play one but I can appreciate what they did :) Overall, the benchmark is just that: a benchmark. Its not the finished product, barely a peep inside. I'm looking forewart to the update but other than that... DT is due the end of June (for me :P ) ! I'd rather they forget about the benchmark and its character creation flaws and focus on the job trailer for May :)

Came here because I heard bout a graphics update. I played FF14 years ago, very, very casually but FF14 peaked my interest again when a friend mentioned about a new expansion and graphics update. I'm quite disappointed actually. I was expecting and hoping some sort of visual overhaul, particularly for the skills for each class and I don't know, I guess just an overall game visual overall since it's quite old and not up to 2024 graphic standards. Unfortunately it seems it is just a skin/character visual overhaul. Can't say this will pull me back in, but thanks for the quick run down on the visual update.

I got a house in The Empyrean so there is that. I know lots of people have houses, but I've been bidding for on for years, and I really wanted one. So there is that :P

As an ARR lover i hope for a fresher look on older maps, specially for the new players. The flufyness of the Miqote's tail is a thing that must be improved.

For the new graphics, I'm mostly excited for how dang *shiny* dunesfolk eyes seem to be, way better for staring at someone until they give me a free cookie or seven.

I opened up the bench mark and looked at my lalafell and immediately felt like something wasn't right and then I got to her skin color and realized that her pale skintone was now yellow.

So I didn't try everything for the benchmark other than my main, and some of my other characters who are Fantasia options, but I was confused seeing your video with the Male Elezen since it looked like you made James Masters as a playable character. I now am stuck wondering if there was ever a time within the near future to have a live action series for FF14 and casting him as an Elezen or Rosario Dawson as Fran in Bozjah. I will say for my testing out options, I do like the fact that my Goth BunBun looks even more Goth in the Benchmark 🥹 Roegadyn are still amazing, not sure how to feel about my Au Ra eyes since one eye was supposed to look blind and now it looks like I can see perfectly fine and then some like a cat about to pounce. Also, I wanted Venat's hair style for all female races, not just Hrothgals 😢

My favourite change is that you cannot see the light source behind your head reflected on your lips, what a game changer

With a little reshade adaptative contrast and Fake HDR, the game will look really good

Hi male Miqo'te here. Yeah I was conflicted too cause like, there was clearly a massive improvement to the textures so my armor looks beautiful and you can see the details more and the world looks more vibrant and real but my face looks like... Literally EXACTLY the same except I'm paler. Soooo much paler. Like porcelain

I'm eager for Hrothgals, for sure. Also, the material textures. Those will go a long, long way. The metal, leather and cloth on the armors are wayyyy better.

Hopefully they will start giving way better hairstyles and updating the old/obtainable ones too.

I love my WoL with the graphics update, but she's a hellsguard, and her smudge has been stolen from her.

I will pass to Hyurgoth at DawnTrail. I'm playing Au Ra currently but GOSH the work on the Hyurgoth is incredible. They are less angular and the character I have done is sooooooooooo pretty.

Sadly it’s more like a reskin than a graphics update. Ffxiv is way behind on the graphics compared to similarly aged games like black desert.

Overall impressed with the update, though I have a bit of a pet peeve with how my character's eyeliners look much thicker than they did before. My girl apparently went through a goth phase when I wasn't looking (Though I suppose it was inevitable, being a BLM main and all).

I sub only occasionally due to life and alternating with WoW... but I'm dumb and got so excited about the updates I subbed INSTANTLY... and then later read the video description that it comes with DT. 😂 The funny part is I was most excited about the anti-aliasing. The flickering, and poor anti-aliasing would drive me crazy, so I'd always play with Gshade and heavy depth of field turned on. Regardless, I'm still excited :) nice video.

Modders can create super fluffy gorgeous tails in ff14 but a billion dollar company like SQ can't fix the fluffy version of the Miqo tail. Sheesh, how hard can it be?

I only wanted one thing from the graphical update, and that was antialiasing. Luckily, I only started this game in 2019, so I only had to be extremely annoyed at the lack of antialiasing for around 1500 hours of gameplay at the time of writing. Every time I played the game, it irritated me so much. When they showed off the new antialiasing in the recent livestream, I was so happy. Better textures and shaders are a nice bonus, but that stuff would still suck if the game renders images with an extremely rough, grainy look and let's not forget the terrible shimmering in the distance. Finally, we get proper antialiasing, and we can truly appreciate the graphics of FFXIV. I am also happy that we get better shadow rendering as well, which was another nitpick of mine. The current version of the game has terrible shadow quality and rendering distance, but that also seems to have been fixed and improved.

they really butchered male viera though... im laughing at those male viera mains on twitter making memes on how it's the end of the world once 7.0 comes like my viera face 3 looks so grumpy/souless now?? give me back my smug smooth face pretty boy maybe ill transition into a male au ra if the graphics for male viera doesnt change....

I still want an option for different ear shapes on miqo’te

As a miqo player, I dislike the filing down of the fang's too. My miqo's face appeared longer and thinner than it used to, forcing me to change the face shape and I think even the jaw, before it looked right in the benchmark cutscene. Also, is it just me, or do the hands now look even more "arthritic" than they used to?

Just grateful they fixed the antialiasing years later.

I’m most exited over aura changes. I played mostly hyur and while I love the graphic update, the new noses feel a tiiny tiny too big but no other complains, however I always loved aura for their slender and petite build but I hated their teeth, their lips and too small noses, the update however fixes all of these for me and I must say I’m so exited for the update so that I can finally create my dream aura character and not hate how she looks.

I checked my character in the benchmark and was like "huh, her eyes used to be so much more intense and sharp. It looks dull." And i got a little sad because i really liked that about my xaela. It did look better in the benchmark itself but knowing the character creator was scuffed makes sense. In the benchmark itself my character looked really good. Am very hyped for it even if i'm nowhere near dawntrail content

Just wait for the updated Benchmark. Its so great people complained about a tech demo and made the team pull resources and put more man hours on updating a trailer for the game. Its soo good. So happy they are not focusing on just the expansion and are updating this demo we are never going to look at again
