Happy mother's day! The only reason we do this is to have an aquarium that makes us smile every time we see it. Those are beautiful fish. The longer I'm in this hobby, the more I appreciate the "simple" fish. Not many people give fish like these the space they deserve to thrive. Loved watching this journey.

Lisa, the back story is a true heartwarming one! The selection by Brandon was and is PERFECT! THOSE LITTLE GORGEOUS GOLDFISH LOOK AND ACT LIKE THEY BELONG IN THE HOME! I, like you and John, have always, since I was 14, saved as many of these "feeder fish" along the 50 years of fish keeping, and I still do! About 15 of them are in my pond, and they have grown to be massive!! Thank you for everything you do, and I love this tank!!! Happy Mother's Day Lisa and John!

Being a grandma myself to little ones, sharing your tank with your grandson melts my heart! It helps that I'm a goldfish fanatic too. So many people are turned off by these beauties, that's OK too. Goldfish aren't for everyone. But they are for us goldie lovers! Enjoy for years to come!

We just upgraded from a 55 to a 100 gallon tank for our 2 goldfish and placo and a mystery snail. So happy to see someone else appreciate them for something other than feeder fish

I just looooove to see people building lovely tanks for common goldfish. Most of these fish end up in a 10 gallon with another five or, obviously, being fed to bigger fish. I constantly look for goldfish tank ideas and all I see are those lab-looking tanks with fancy goldfish, like only the expensive ones are beautiful and deserving of a good tank. Thank you for this.

Unbelievable. I CANNOT believe you had the audacity to pick a fish that had an incredibly sweet story that would not only remind you of your grandson, but would also prove your “practice what you preach” attitude about saving feeder fish! When I first saw the red and white ones, my first thought was "who on Earth sells Sarasa Comets as FEEDER fish?" Years ago I had a Sarasa Comet that was GLORIOUS to look at. If the opportunity arises, I might pop several in a big tank like yours, though I'll run with Giant Vallisneria and the odd spot of Ludwigia plant wise.

Thank you for doing this video. I got into the hobby when my son decided to pick some feeder fish at the store during covid. Eventually I learned this species needs and upgraded to a bigger tank, etc. This video really hits home TY.

I love this! I used to work in a pet store and hated that we sold feeder fish and I used to catch special ones for people if they wanted them. We also had a huge tank that we kept "special" fish in. If something would come in with scoliosis or only had one eye or was disfigured in some way we added them to that tank when possible so that they could live out their life with us and that is still one of my favorite tanks. Fish don't have to be expensive or perfect to be worthy.

I've never been a fan of feeder fish for all the reasons Lisa stated. So anytime I hear of someone saving feeder fish I applaud them. I had guessed the tank would have been a Betta sorority as I knew Lisa loves Betta's. The story of your Grandson brought a tear to my eye though. May the tank prosper for years and years. Only thing I would had is maybe a nice Pleco or two, Like a Sultan or Trinidad. Or maybe a small herd of Cory's, say 30 or so. Just something to keep the substrate a little cleaner.

I love this tank! And I agree frontosa have been on my list for ages to get and everytime something gets in the way, I figure I have all sorts of other cichlids so it should be ok but I guess it’s not my time, but I love what you chose. It’s unique and it is something you know and love! With the dates too that tank is more of homage to the love you have and I can say that it’s Perfect! Love the colour and I love how these fish were chosen! Love you guys and stay happy and healthy!!! 😊❤
