Installation in my 2017 Audi A3 e-tron worked exactly as described in the video and just took 5 mins, thx a lot! 👍

Just installed this on a 2023 RS6. Took 1hr 20mins (vs my wife’s X5 that took 20). Not FitCamX’s fault. The Audi trim pieces are a pain. As someone else mentioned, it’s easier if you take the whole mirror down. My mirror assembly started to pop off when I tried to pry the forward-most of the three trim pieces straight down. Once the mirror is down, the forward and middle pieces come apart pretty easily. Also easier to unplug the cables. For the large rear-most piece, grab it at the sides and pull apart. Then the front edge can be pulled down. At this point I hoped and attempted to leave the back edge in place while reassembling everything, but it was impossible to do without fully removing this large piece of trim. I found I had to pull quite firmly straight down at the rear to get it to disengage because there are vertical clips that need to be extracted from their holes. Try not to mess with this trim as much as I did. It doesn’t fit quite as tightly anymore and it can be a $50 part if you damage it. Reassembly is not too bad. Mirror, then camera, then middle trim (while routing wire carefully as in the video), then rear trim. Once all is snapped together, it’s very clean.

Followed the video instructions to remove the three pieces on my 2018 Audi Q5 and everything came off pretty easily (definitely easier than what is shown in the video). It took some finessing to get the camera housing snapped into place, but I got there eventually. Inserting the power clip back into place was a little tough for me as well, but again, I eventually got there. I snapped the two other housing pieces back into place, downloaded the app, connected to the LHD Wi-Fi address and I had video recording! I definitely considered removing the mirror to make access to everything a little easier but I ultimately decided I didn’t want to bother. The resolution from this thing is super-crisp. This was recommended to us by a friend who recently installed it in their 2024 Q8 and he’s been really happy with it. From start to finish I’d say it took me about 45 minutes. The little blue pry-bar works great. If you use your hand to open the space between plastic pieces you can get the plastic pry-bar in between them easily and separate them for removal. I never needed the metal pry-bar.

This video was not very helpful. It still took me three hours to fit the camera to my Q8. The two tools provided (blue plastic and black felted metal) were totally useless. I eventually used a box cutter and a flat head screwdriver to open up the plastic covers. I then puzzled for ages as to which of the five wires to disconnect from the mirror housing and then how to actually unclip the correct one. I didn't want to pull it too hard like in the various videos. I then wasn't sure how to tuck in the wires back in without damaging them as I put all three plastic covers back together. The written instructions provided were equally as useless. Why can't the manufacturer provide unambiguous visual and verbal instructions on a step by step process to both disassemble the mirror structure and to re-assemble it. I was very lucky not to break or damage any of the components and the camera does work well.

A clean flush appearance!

there is no way you are going to separate the middle piece above the mirror mount from the factory front piece that is replaced by the camera without marking it. It's way easier if you twist the mirror off, then you can separate the two pieces. The middle piece around the mirror pivot will twist out, and the front piece that is replaced by the camera will slide down way easier, without marking up the trim if the mirror was still mounted. The front piece slides down the mirror mount via two rails that fit slots in the front trim.
