Cheddar has good intentions, but he is clearly very naive politically, as well as when it comes to running a country. Some of his comments/ideas were atrociously unrealistic and fantasy. For example, his stance of holding Chinese nationals caught for galamsey in prison, only to release them after the Chinese President fixes the environmental mess in Ghana, is the height of political naivety. Even the US President cannot dare make such an utterance in regards to holding the Chinese President accountable in America. Furthermore, I got the impression that he is doing this more for his own hubris than to serve the call of action. For someone mentioning the names of Nkrumah and Lumumba, unlike those two, Cheddar has no discernable political or economic philosophy. Nkrumah and Lumumba were nationalists who were mistrustful of neo-colonial control by the West. Cheddar doesn't sound like a nationalist, nor does he sound like he wants to dismantle the status quo. He mentioned how Ghana shouldn't be borrowing, yes. But then he proceeded not to tell us how he, as President, would ensure the country stays afloat without dependence on borrowing from the IMF/World Bank. This again buttresses the recurring theme with him: he sees himself as "messianic," the chosen one to fix issues. It doesn't take a genius to clearly see Ghana's problems, like his mentioning of our borrowing and being in debt. Does Cheddar think, however incompetent and myopic they may be, the NDC and NPP love going to the IMF to beg? I don't think so. In fact, it would be a great PR boost to their credentials if they governed Ghana without borrowing. Remember Akuffo-Addo parading his so-called "Ghana beyond Aid" before the reality of his ministers' economic incompetence shut him up? So again, Cheddar, how would you make up for the deficit from not borrowing? If it were so easy and simple, the NDC and NPP would've done so for political currency and credit, but they can't. If you are indeed the second coming of Nkrumah, tell us, manifest confidence in us that like Nkrumah, you are a methodical and politically savvy operator. Nkrumah famously predicted the rise of neo-colonialism even before the whole of Africa was decolonized. He also was astute enough to reject the IMF/World Bank during his time in office. That's why we sing Nkrumah's praises; he was cut from a different cloth compared to all of Ghana's presidents since. Cheddar doesn't sound like an Nkrumah or Lumumba; he sounds like a typical frustrated Ghanaian, tired of the incompetence of both parties (NDC and NPP), but unlike you and me, he has the money to try to make some noise. Noise, that's what I would call it, as again, Cheddar doesn't have nor does he exhibit the sort of trailblazing (politically and economically) thinking needed to break Ghana from the neo-colonial orbit.

The major problem is that the NDC and NPP have no vision or plan for the country and because they employ incompetent people into positions of power, the funds that are supposed to be utilized for developmental projects are looted. This whole 2 party system isn't going to help Ghana in any way, shape, or form. With Nkrumah declining to go to the IMF and World bank, he had reserves that could enable him do the things he did without going to the IMF. Ghana at that time had enough reserves as remnants of the British administration that Ghana was actually borrowing money to other African countries to fight for their freedom. I don't think NKB is making noise or assuming a messianic position. He is a tired young man who is fed up of the system. Several of us resonate with him and we have similar feelings. All he has said and is saying are things some of us have been saying. Grandpa who has lived and worked in the various administrations has been complaining time and again about the ardent uselessness of the some of these politicians. Regarding his thoughts on Chinese illegal activity in Ghana, I guess you don't understand the diplomatic language. Who told you the US wouldn't dare take folks hostage? 😂😂🤣😂😂 incredulous. It's only in Africa that we condone such arrant nonsense. No one, even an American will go scot free if they're found damaging a natural resource that serves the entire country, not to talk of foreigners flaunting the natural resource laws. Eeeeiiiii, come again. If we don't stand up and put those Chinese in their place, they will continue to undermine us. Period.
