In this episode of my series “New Forest Walks”, I take a 5.5 mile walk from the village of Brockenhurst (which s located about 4 miles South of Lyndhurst) to Boldre and back. Once again I am accompanied by my Whippet, Logan.
I parked my car at the Church of St Nicholas which is situated to the South of Brockenhurst and, after visiting the church itself, headed South along a bridleway through Brockenhurst Park and into the Roydon Woods Nature Reserve.
Just near Roydon Manor, I took another bridleway East and crossed the Lymington River before walking between two bits of woodland (Newlands Copse & Calveslease Copse).
Just after Dilton Gardens, I headed South again towards the village of Boldre. At Heywood Farm, I took a footpath directly to the church of St John the Baptist.
After visiting the church, I continued along a country road past Heywood Manor & Heywood Mill.
Shortly after crossing the Lymington River again, started my homeward leg Northwards along a “No Through Road” and back into the Nature Reserve.
Although my walk ended back at the church at Brockenhurst, I decided to take a short drive into the centre of the village in order to visit The Snakecatcher pub (named after Harry “Brusher” Mills - who is buried at the church).
