New Forgotten Pond Holds Massive PIKE!

Well this session started off a bit slow. I went out in search of a hidden pond i discovered on google maps. After fighting my way through 20 yards of brambles i eventually got to the wild pond. It had hardly any access to fish, so i started off with the topwater in the hopes that might tempt a toothy predator from the margins, but nothing. After switching to a small handmade soft plastic bait thats when the session took a great turn!

As a pike fisherman myself it is awesome to get a good pike in a new water. I know of a small pond here in Scotland 10mins from my home and the pike are monsterous and so are the perch. My favourite type of fishing 🎣🎣🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Gary have you ever fished the hidden big pond behind hamilton services just off the m74 ? Some fairly massive pike in there for it not being a big Loch caught quite a few big boys there on an orange and yellow 10cm lure spent a few hours and caught 10 pike in the one session

Like these are just forgotten and no one fishes them. Incredible you can still go exploring and find things no one has seen for a long time. To me, this is what fishing is all about, getting out there no matter the weather, exploring and generally having a great time. Great video Chris!

I live just north of you in NW Ontario. One thing that always blows me away is seeing large pike in small channels and ponds in the U.K. Over here in Canada any river or pond that small has no fish really. Our winters are too brutal to allow fish to live there, never mind big fish. Cheers.

Growing up, I had two small lakes on my doorstep, which my dad and I used to fish. Both had Roach, Rudd, Perch, Tench, Eels, Crucian Carp and of course, Pike. This was when you could still use live bait, so you’d catch half a dozen small Roach and then see if you could tempt one of the many pike, which ran up to around 20lbs. Great place to spend a childhood.

I love these kinds of videos. These conditions are mostly what fishing is available to me. Heavy brush, bad weather, lots of trees. Great to see the perseverance and that it's often worth it! Back in the brush those fish are often not pressured and more responsive to a natural presentation. Great video!

That's BEAUTIFUL Pike!!!! I'm 63 and I've only ever caught one on Lake Ontario in Canada when I was about 13 years old. Caught it. Cleaned it. Cooked it. And, of course, ATE IT!!!! The story behind it is CRAZY!!! I hadn't had any experience fishing before this catch. Was in the foster care system. The guardians took us (I was the only kid of color and the other guys were just young, dumb BIGOTS) camping at one of those KOA camp grounds. Woke up early in the morning; took the boat and went to the lake. It was early dawn and there was thick fog over the lake. I had set my rod between my legs and started rowing. Next thing I know my rod seems like it's gonna fly out. In my panic and fear I'd accidentally thrown one of the oars to grab my rod. When I regained my composure (as a first-time experience) I thought OUT LOUD that I was going to "drown" this fish for scaring me so bad. So I used the motor thinking I would drag this fish to death. Obviously, THAT didn't happen. I'll tell you the other part AFTER I finish watch your video.

Brings back fond memories of my youth, when my friends and I would go fishing for pike in a beaver pond close to my home. They were never this big, but they were abundant. Mom never let us bring them home. They were not that good eating; boney and tasted like mud. But we enjoyed our selves, and it was a Damm site better than being glued to some silly video game.

I've lure fished a couple of decades around my local drains system and had two two doubles ever, and consider a session eventful if I even get one take or one follow! Catching a couple of jacks in the same session is a red letter day! I watch brilliant clips like this and think I must be bloody useless at the game!
@WolfmanWoody
@WolfmanWoody 3 жыл бұрын
No, you're not useless. As Dick Walker would say, in order to catch big fish you must fish where there are big fish. This Chris is very lucky finding two ponds that seemingly no one else knows about and they have some nice pike in them. You keep trying with different baits, fast and slow retrieve, up and down the water column, stick at it and you never know! I think he's very lucky indeed especially with the little streams.

I'm from the South of chris area the fishing not bad. Some canals I can't catch anything in and also struggle on the trent. Yet other local gravel pits I would be upset if I didn't have a busy morning. I also have other canals that will produce loads of pike and zander with upper doubles pike and even 20lb pike. Although I would sacrifice good fishing for KZfaq videos. As his mate found his waters got a hammering and ruined his swims.

FYI . When walking in the woods,I started carrying my rods (1 or 2 pieces)backwards.years ago. Doesn’t get hung on as many bushes ect. Carry all of them butt end forward now. Even when surf fishing on a beach with no bushes and trees. The barometric pressure drops when T’s raining,takes pressure off of fish swim bladders,turns on their appetite. That’s what I was told a long time ago anyway. Rain seems to turn them on for whatever reason. Imagine it knocks a lot of bugs down in the water too. Hey from NC. USA
