In our continuing story of Samuel de Champlain, Quebec is finally settled, but keeping control of the trade along the St. Lawrence will require overcoming constant obstacles. The Natives convince Champlain to war with the Iroquois and a conspiracy in Quebec requires Champlain to lay down the law.

Thank you! Your pronunciation has really improved. As a bilingual Canadian and descendant of early French settlers in Montreal, I appreciate it. My major in university was French, historical versions over 5 centuries. You are correct in your point about les sauvages meaning people of the forest, wild, without the modern negative connotations. I grew up on Lake Huron, and wanted to point out that in English, we say “Hyooron”. You have the correct vowel sound, but just add the y.

I love the podcast! Can you film next season of The Other States about the founding of Bermuda? I'm Bermudian-American and a lot of Bermudians are descended from American colonists from New Amsterdam, New France & New England. It would be great to see what research & visuals you have for next season, if you make Bermuda's founding the topic of next season.

how many parts are there to this video series? I'd like to watch the whole thing in order, is there a list of them somewhere?

I keep hearing about the indians having scurvy. Something doesn't jive w that. I know the ojibway and other algonqians knew about spruce tea.
