After the failed colony of Roberval the sailors of St. Malo and elsewhere continued a clandestine trade with the Natives. The St. Lawrence Iroquois mysteriously disappeared and the Innu at Tadoussac create a monopoly on the furs coming from the interior of the continent. France, enveloped in civil wars has few resources to settle their claim to the region, but when the price of fur skyrockets a few brave souls, and a few unwilling prisoners give it try...

Very interesting, there is a place in Louisiana called no man’s land as well. And the Acadians also were trading furs and had gotten sovereignty. Can you do a video on this and from space and France due to the inquisition. Now a group called the cabana ⚜️🙏🏻🦋👀

Lots of interesting stuff going on! Thanks Eric for informing me of all these wonderful stories my teachers neglected to tell me. In their defense, they were probably unaware of all of this knowledge you have gleaned. Also, the visual work on your video was great. I enjoyed the different scenery.

Yes people often judge those of the past as irrational in their decision making, however, given the information they had available, sometimes their choices are completely rational.

1:36 I am new to your channel, but not new to this family reconstruction journey. I am noticing this disappearance narrative is very common. Like the Aztecs and Mayans they say they dissapeared... but I have their blood... they couldn't have disappeared if I am alive today... very interesting. I wonder were they changing their identities to negro then, before it was admitted that they were diluting our identities on paper and in real time? It not like I can give the US history account any credibility. Thank you for giving my family members and many others a voice. ❤💔❤🧘🏾‍♀️

I noticed that too especially with the Mayans. People think they disappeared, but there are millions of them today.

@@theotherstatesofamericahis5212 I have a copy of The Jesuit Relations And Allied Documents as selected and edited by Edna "Hollow Earth" Kenton but I'd really like to get ahold of the complete series which I believe is 70 or so volumes. I also have Champlain's Dream by Fischer, The Beginnings Of New France by Trudel and Parkman's Frontenac And England In North America Vol. 2. Even after reading all these I feel as though I've barely scratched the surface and considering all the material that I have yet to translate into English (SAGARD!) and read I'll be hackin' away at this thing for years! Well, it's a pipe dream anyway.

This is an audio podcast, that is slowly being uploaded to KZfaq, most of the viewership is listening on audio platforms like Google music, but some people find it here. The images are just something to fill that go along with the words, also it is very hard to find public domain images on many of these obscure subjects from centuries ago.
