Stepless rotary is so simple and effective yet so underrated. Just use as much light as you need; literally just turn in the direction you want. No multi-tapping involved, no need to study a chart. The Prowess seems like it's gonna be one of the best grab-and-go/home emergency light for years to come, provided you're someone who already has/plan to stock up on Olight proprietary batteries. I wonder how long it'll take before clones/interpretations show up. Do these have pass-through charging function? Like, be able to power off the port with/without a battery installed?

they work with any button top batteries. ANY they only are proprietary regarding charging. can always charge every single battery in a bay charger just fine. batteries are batteries. proprietary scaring people away from olight is dumb as hell and those people arent doing any reasonable research at all

@@nomercyinc6783 If you would re-read it, I never actually said anything about complete incompatibility of non-proprietary batteries. You made that straw man up, and threw misguided insults on that basis, perhaps because you've grown sick of having seen it frequently... somewhere else. Since you mentioned "any button top batteries"... If you buy an external charger, wouldn't it be better if it also doubles as a backup? That's what could've been if the Prowess hadn't adopted a proprietary charging system. It would be self-sabotage for the average non-flashaholic household (that previously never had the need to get 18650/21700/chargers) to opt for just "any button top batteries" instead of proprietary batteries - that choice would mean knowingly neutering the on-board charging function of the Prowess.

Sweet new lantern. I see that they don't have the magnetic charge anymore on this new model. Telescopic is cool, can be useful to light up a greater area. And also I love the switch between warm/white light. Cool new light, hope they release it in other colors soon.

So they did increase the dimming time on the lantern mode of the prowess. Might have to get a production one too.

Yes I know. I have a Roxon KS2 Elite too I just quickly showed the tools but I’ll save the in depth stuff for the follow up 👍🏻

Id give Coast Portland a try, they just released some lanterns themselves with dual fuel option.

its just coast. portland isnt on any of their marketing or even on their website. i have some of their lights. its just COAST

While the Olight Lantern and the Olight Prowess looks nice and all, the price seems a bit steep. I am sure there are better and cheaper alternatives out there. The OKS2’s price seems more reasonable. And since the price is good, people might opt for this instead of the more popular brands.

its not made by olight just like none of their knives are olight made either. kizer makes their knives and roxon makes their multitools. facts are facts

@@ChrispyThingsi don't have either tool just seen videos. So based on looks i like the olight better. So I'm not sure what one for sure i like better. I'm getting the roxon one we talked about for the beard. So, I'll be able to test the scale material on that one. I'll probably get the olight just for the hell of it later. Can't have enough tools, em I right? Your damn videos don't help. Even if I've seen the tool you're showing i still love your opinion on them.

I’ve owned three O-lights. Every single one of them drained within a month so that they didn’t turn on when I went to use them. DO NOT RELY ON THEM. Luckily, I had $10 backups or Fenux as backups. The Olights are now in the trash. And I’m not switching out my Victorinox or Leathermen for this multi tool - won’t trust this company’s products.

Oh I just checked and I also have an Arkfeld which is great and doesn’t have this problem. I forgot it was also an Olight. I wonder why all the other models do?

@@ChrispyThings Well, I supposed that's the rub isn't it -- inconsistent QC and/or reliability. Like I said -- my arkfeld is going strong -- but I don't use it as an emergency or critical light.

When are they going to actually come out with something that actually makes us go? Wow!!! that's an upgrade!! Because they haven't done it yet, 5,000 lumens bull crap. It's just a gimmicky flashlight that has no actual purpose, they say it has those purposes, but honestly why do you need a little lamp facing you? When you're trying to light up stuff in front of you, it's just going to mess with your perception.

The only good flashlights I can honestly say o light has made is the MR2 Pro Warrior. I love that flashlight. That thing was a true EDC tactical flashlight, and then they ruined it with the warrior 3s. The Marauder Mini that is probably, the most badass flashlight that they've ever made. 7,000 lumens has flood, and spot it does red, blue, and green it does it really well too, the first flashlight that I've ever seen throw a colored light as far as it does. It's definitely on my buy list!!!! The warrior X4 it's probably the third best light that they've ever came out with super simple UI only two modes very Tactical😂😂😂 but other than that the rest of their stuff is just gimmicky crap that you don't really need but since they make it in a million colors it's kind of cool😂😂

The back light can be used as a desk lamp, or can be used to hang upside down in a tent so the light bounces upward

The prowess was a quick buy for me. Go out at night 2-3 times a week with the family. Always looking for a warm light for the picnic blanket. The prowess literally solves a real problem in my life and another warrior or tactical model would not. Olight arkfeld, oclip, and prowess are the current olights in rotation.
