I think you summed up this release perfectly for most collectors: it's nice to see General Grievous on the mural and in galaxy packaging, nothing more to it.

This is so odd because the original release had some degree of battle damage/weathering. The "battle damaged" effect on this figure is so miniscule. His eyes look better at least. Big oof on this release! This sculpt is easily a Black Series Blunder. I'm usually good with the BS version of the character but I NEED the Bandai model kit on this one. -Justin

As someone who loves general grievous i see this new one as an aboslute win.

I did pick this up and have the original one too. Nice to have this and I agree he takes up a lot of real estate on the shelf. The lightsabers are a highlight having all the different hilts.

The Bandai model kit is the only Grievous that actually looks great and functions well, even unpainted. He feels kinda flimsy, but if you get it at a good price, he's worth the build and looks great on a shelf.

Love Grievous, but this is an easy pass if you own the original. Would've been cool if they went for his flaming look from the game, but this is still nice given the sub-line is usually straight repaints.

Wish they would do a Grevious more based on the clone wars, you could still have more realistic textures and paint but they could give him the larger feet from the show and maybe swappable arms so you could have regular posable ones and then the 4 arms option. I always liked how he looked in the clone wars a bit better then ROTS anyways so I think it’d be a good way to redo the character without only adding ankle tilts.

Do your hexagons stands work with him Luke? I know his feet are big. I plan to pick this up at some point, but didn’t pre-order.

For any hardcore Grevious fans, check out the Bandai model kit Grevious, you'll have to assemble the figure yourself but once you do it is glorious

love your reviews and love the fact that you don't waste any time talking about nonsense so the video stretches to 10 minutes

I have the model kit and the 2D clone wars Grievous. 2D is still on card. So I've never messed with this mold. This is one of the few figures (this and the original one, I mean) that all the bad reviews kept me from ever getting to display, haha. Thanks for sharing this new one! Hopefully it draws some new people into the line.

I've been going back and forth on these. I know there's problems but I still really want a Grievous. On the one hand, the original one is available now for $80nzd and the cape is a great inclusion. On the other, the new one is around $60nzd but no extra cape and currently he's out of stock in my country. I'm hesitant because I'm travelling to America in November but I don't know how stock works for the US customers. Here once an item is gone, it's likely to be gone for good. But interesting to see the issues people have with the original release don't appear to have changed too much.

Hello Luke thanks for sharing your thoughts on the "new" General Grievous from the Gaming Greats line. My General Grievous figures is an interesting story. I originally didn't have much interest in the prequel figures. I purchased a figure from eBay but I was sent Grievous instead. I contacted the seller and he sent me the figure I wanted and he said to just keep the Grievous figure. So he stayed in his box for a year or two then I got the Walmart Grievous from Clone Wars but I still wasn't overly impressed by the figure but I started to collect prequel figures now. I ended up giving my original Grievous to a friend who also collects for his birthday. I have no interest in a "battle damage" Grievous so easy pass for myself. I'll probably put my Clone Wars Grievous with the new white Separatist Magna Guards figures when they come out. Thanks again Luke for taking the time to put this video together for us. I've noticed that no one , including the video , mentions the tartakovsky clone wars 6" grievous figure. (Walmart exclusive) It's a great underrated figure 👍👍

Should have just included an alternate death of Grievous head and torso. Might have been nice to improve the joints, but more than anything, the guy is way underscaled so for me it's Hasbro 3 strikes and YOU'RE OUT! -=-=-=⚾️

another great review ty. imo, first release was better. the cape is a deal maker. 👍 paying roughly the same price but w/o cape for the newly re-released doesn't add up. the packaging of the first release also looks better aesthetically. . mtfbwy ...always

Really wish they would fix the feet for grievous though because I’m trying to put him in the middle of my display but can’t because I don’t have stands

I just got the red box grievous because I hated the black over his eye, especially because I was going for a rots display for him. And I gotta say, people are sleeping on my boy, like all it takes is some fiddling and he stands in nearly any pose just fine. And I saw somewhere else that he is under scaled but when I looked, they had is legs bent intensely. To that I say extend the legs, have him poke his head out and lean forward a bit, and he will TOWER over kenobi and anakin.

Since b2 is coming out I wanna get a general grievous to go along but I'm worry that the joints are too fragile and might break easy is that a problem for those who got it???

I don't know how you're finding this guy difficult to stand, I found him the easiest out of all my figures. So long as it's a battle stance with his legs splayed apart, his big ass claw fit easily hold him up

…aaaaaaand, pre-order cancelled. I already have the original release, so there’s nothing distinctive enough here to justify. Was hoping for upgrades, but will just see if Mafex or SHF takes a crack at him.
