A lot of mental load added with this battle plan, but I find it good. Definitely one you can get better with practice and I think you will see it a lot at tournaments. Forces defensive castle armies to move.

Michael did not give up, went to 2 GTs with Starborne following this battle report and still won quite a few games. They faced Null Myriad, fly spam with Belakor, Blades of Khorne and still pulled down some dubs. Thanks for watching our channel!

I wasnt too sad about the Kroak and Slaan nerfs but they could have atleast cut the troglodon down 30 points after reducing his usefulness that much. That was still a great battle report, i hope the lizards have better luck in the next one.

I agree! Michael was cursed with some challenging casting rolls, on top of a battle plan that turned off his scoring opportunity. He took Starborne to Tacoma and went 3-2, so he has had quite a bit more practice :) We will see how Boise Cup goes this weekend !

totally agree, troglodon is totally useless now, a monster that dont do any dmg( roughly half dmg than litle mounted hero does), only have 1 cast without any bonus. and his spell is really bad and situational only. i wont take him ever untill it dont come down to 180-220p maximun

I go to the Tournament on Sunday, with exact this battle plan. My List is not totally ready for this season but absolutely for this plan. 30 Blood warrior pinning my opponent in his home zone and hopefully score his objectives in the first turn and then slowly working back to my objectives at home

It happens more than you think! Sometimes it's easy to roll that extra dice when you really need a spell to go off. What's the worst that could happen? Instant death? Totally fine lol

You have to cast spells around the Malevolent Maelstrom before moving it up, keep in mind that it explodes at 6 so the trick is to get the dice to 5 and then move it up. Also I highly recommend Geminids of Uhl-Gysh in Seraphon as well, very strong.

It moves before it blows, so load it on up to 6, then move it, then let it blow. (As long as you can move it far enough away.) With the Astrolith Bearer, you can initially set it up further away, but still within 12" of your wizards, to give you the extra movement cushion you might need. Takes some pre-planning, but for the most part it will be about 20" from your wizard(s) when it blows.

I'm trying to pivot by removing the Trog and putting in an Engine of the Gods. Felt the ability to have a 10x Saurus Warrior summon on turn 2 (on a good roll) would allow me to bank some summoning points and maybe even get another engine to start bringing out more Saurus Warriors. Gonna give a go soon.

They either mop the floor with whatever they touch, run across the board and never get into comment, or die to shooting/magic. I absolutely agree with you, hard to leave them out of the list because they are just so badass

@@BattleshockWargaming Its hard to argue against nurgle chosens toughness but playing them as slaanesh solves their issue of being slow. Keep a slaanesh foot sorcerer next to them to give them Oracular visions/ mystic shield and issue them the run and charge command. you auto run them 6 moving them 12"+2d6 charge. For extra lols you can take a slaneesh warshrine to pray a 3d6 charge on the chosen too. I typically never have an issue getting them in combat quickly.

Great report guys! The primal miscast was awesome 😂. I've a question about the seraphon list. Do you think the warriors are good enough in starborne? They did their job pinning some units but they cost lots of points

I think the saurus in general are a bit underwhelming, melee profile on 4s and bites have to be allocated to 1 unit. They are a decent screen with their 3+ save, but any elite unite can rinse them no problem. They are very easy to pin because they don't do damage as well

The Kroak bomb is still good. It would have helped if the priorities had gone otherwise and if you could have rolled better with Kroak. He only got 2 spells off in the whole game. Also I feel S2D army build was a bit of a counter against the Seraphon army. Michael. You need to change your dice (or your hands) hahahha

Yeah Belakor vs Kroak is nasty as hell. Just making him useless 1 round out of 3 is awful. Plus as you said, Kroak missed everything with awful rolling.

Yes, look at the different cheaper units, play alot more screens (cheap units to build a wall in front of your army) to keep your value-pieces alive. Most DMG-dealing units dont care what they crush into, they just kill every single unit, so some fodder is always nice.

I agree with the other commentary, Cabalists is great, just need screens to protect your powerful units and casters, that way you can properly buff and capitalize on the strengths of chosen, knights, varanguard etc

I've been contemplating if the high risk high reward of teleporting Kroak himself up the table is worth it and then drop an at least 10 strong unit of guard and probably even a few other units around him instead of using the Trog. Worth it or too risky?

This is a solid tactic, Michael did this many times in the last few tournaments we went to. The temple guard MUST be in range tho, otherwise things can end bad ver quickly lol

I don't mind this battle plan, I think you just have to focus not over committing. It's better to take less points and score bigger in the end. Then going for big scores early game.

I almost ran Null Myriad, but that seemed rude lol, I wanted to have an army that had some MW protection and Bel'akor to slow down the damage output, it just kind of went my way. The turn 3 and 4 casting backfired and the battleplan made scoring very hard for Seraphon. I think this list could do just fine if we were to rematch.

Belakor is a very common tournament piece, Michael now has a good working plan for if this pops up again. He went 3-2 at Tacoma the weekend after we filmed this. We will see how Starborne do at Boise Cup this weekend

guys, i was in the exact same position, i got the army as a tournament list and painted it all up nice ready to play and then before i even get to give it a run out they had nerfed it, absolutely killed the army i had built and it annoyed me no end so i sold them and brought into Sylvaneth instead. so im right there with u man it was a really rough nerf imo and has basically made that setup borderline unplayable ty for all the content guys love these videos and watch them religiously x

We still think that the Seraphon rules changes were pretty harsh, but after playing Ogors into Seraphon and getting table in 2 battle rounds, I see why they had to make some changes. Michael was doing 30-40 damage in each hero phase and I had no wards or spell protection. Thats feels bad bro. It's like in the movies when the bad guy is like "Just stay Down" but obviously the good guy has to die trying lol

OMG, DAVID, WHY?! 😂 That IMMEDIATE spellcasting. Absolute madness. I was wondering how this battleplan would fare with the objectives shutting down. Seems like holding too many objectives can actually be really bad for players. Hold 5 objectives, but if your opponent only takes 1 from you, you suddenly lose 4 objectives next turn. I'm really not sold on this new GHB's battleplans yet... Unrelated, but tangentially, Nexus Collapse is one of the worst battleplans I've ever played. Michael, your salt was very apparent in the back half of this game, and I definitely feel you. That last miscast was just the garbage icing on top of the horrible situation. Cheers, lads, I hope you don't need to deal with this battleplan again. Maybe a re-play might be better since, to your points you were making at the every end there, maybe its prudent to only take 1 or 2 objectives at a time. At least, that's what I'll try when I play this one at some point. Take care!

Yes :) One thing we were made aware of, is that a saurus unit can only pick 1 unit to bite, which seems ridiculous, but limits their damage output when tagging multiple units.

Dang, Kroak just did not do anything. Having extra bodies I think would have been vastly more effective.That battleplan was not great. Going up against an army in the S2D that had a ton of mortal wound saves wasn't great. I think the Kroak bomb is just not the list anymore.

Be'lakor is a great counter to Kroak, but turn order and not miscasting, and poss a different battle plan would have made a huge difference. We have been looking at list tech qith kroak in coalesced and it looks quite fun and possibly competetive, so stay tuned ;)

I love Kroak's lore, but I hate his playstyle and what he does for Seraphon. It's just really unfun. "Oh I delete your army from across the board on turn 1 gg." I have a hard time feeling bad about the troglodon bomb being nerfed. It was such an obviously abusive and toxic strategy that it was going to get nerfed hard quickly. That strategy was so awful to watch I went from being excited about maybe picking up Seraphon to not even wanting to touch the faction at all.

@@MrTBass11prior to the nerf, Kroak casts his warscroll spell 4x, 3 units ea taking D3 MW's ea time, assume an avg of 2 MW's each time, that's 8 MW's taken on 3 units. That alone can be enough cripple many of your heroes. Then add Comets Call which can avg another 2 MW's to those 3 units, so that's 10 MWs if they weren't finished off yet. Stellar Tempest into hordes dealing 1 MW to a 1/3 of that unit, Cosmic Crush into your heavy armored troops, Realmshaper Engine into anyone standing near a specific terrain piece, the cosmic power Cleanse the Realms doing basically D6 MW's to anyone standing near our wizards, then add an endless spell into the mix to top it off. Kroak alone can't cripple an army, but you never brought just Kroak, it was all the things that accompanied him in this list that could dish out ~50 MW's in a turn if all went well.

And sure as hell It could not table the opponent army turn 1. Actually It was and It Is not good at that at all. It Is good to absolutely and surely blast your foot Heroes off the table. But It cant table and army. So maybe i would Say, lets stop whining about a plastic soldier games and Just have fun toghether instead of constantly asking for nerfs? Or this crying creates a lot of noise where Is difficult to discern the actual valid complaints.

Seraphon was waaaay too powerful, needed the nerf. I know it sucks because you had your hard work and effort into prep, and your hopes. However, being on the receiving end, it’s broken. And they definitely had multiple 5-0s in the short time pre-nerf (to include a tournament i played). Don’t forget that StD and Stormcast were both nerfed before the armies were even out/models sold.

@@BattleshockWargaming Not sure, but I think he is talking about the Maelstrom Endless Spell as part of it. Cast it initially near your Kroak/Slann group, but utilizing the +6" from the Astrolith. Then load it up with points to max it out at 6 by casting all your spells. Then it moves at the end of hero phase to where you want it. Then it blows up. Takes a lot of pre-planning to get it right, but can hit a ton of units. Spell casting order should typically be: The +1 to cast spell, then you are going to do your Maelstrom, then Pendulum, Spell Portal, Comet's Call, and Kroak's spell, once through Trog and once through Spell Portal. Then if you have 15 points, go ahead and blast away with Cleanse the Realms if there are enough units near your nodes to make it worthwhile, then do your faction terrain blast too. The trouble with such a spell dependent list is that 1 miscast early in this combo and you're pretty much done for.

I think for this plan you should also consider not deploying on the objectives in your territory so you don’t start immediately draining them unnecessarily. I’m also wondering if you could have scored surround and destroy as a T1 tactic? I think you could have auto run the trog 6 onto the flank and then teleport a unit onto a different board edge perhaps. Maybe deploy the saurus at the start to do this

@@BattleshockWargaming Thank you very much :) I played this match up for my first S2D game and used the same heros but had varanguard, Pinned the seraphon in the corner and denied so many points. didnt play that battle plan though that looked hard. :) good game guys.
