@@TennesseeHeirloomWoodcraftCo That's unfortunate. I played a '36 D18 and have been in search of something even close... It was a life changing moment and that is not overstating it. I now have a 2015 D18 '39 Authentic that will one day be unreal but it's gotta a lott of life and playing to get there. I'm a Martin guy if you haven't figured it out yet. I've owned two Collings dreadnoughts, both with Red Spruce tops. VERY playable... but overbuilt and will NEVER have a well balanced tone, really lacking in the bass department and I'm not into the over bass-ey Martin dreads. Too each, his own!

Bret Hedenkamp yeah I drove a few hours to go look a certain Gibson true historic R9 and they happened to have several Collings and a few old martins. While waiting on my ride I decided to check out the Collings and I played every single one and they were all good but not great and then I picked up the one I own now. Balanced warm just absolutely beautiful sounding best sounding acoustic I EVER heard by far. This particular one just has something different and I won’t ever get rid of it

@@TennesseeHeirloomWoodcraftCo Glad to hear that, and I've only owned 2 but played a couple of dozen of friends, in fact I have a buddy with a Collings D2 Traditional with Red Spruce and Madagascar: pretty outstanding! .... but still I've heard better newer Martins and the vintage stuff... I try not to dream about that stuff too much!!

Good stuff, Paul! Kind of throws me back to this guitar shop in London in the late 1990s. First floor: electric only. Second floor: acoustic only. I was not much into acoustic those days, but figured I would have a look. I was the only customer in the shop and the shop guy gave me discrete attention while I browsed the selection. My eyes fell on a 1936 Gibson and he suggested I gave it a try... I was flabbergasted. I have never in my life had an instrument of this quality and vitality in my hands. Period. The guy asked me rhetorically if I liked it and I just nodded, words failed me. So, I had a look at the price tag. 6.000,- GBP. Probably 10 times the combined value of my present collection of guitars. I gently kept it back and walked away. Never looked back. Never visited the shop ever again.

Congrats on such a beauty! I'm playing fingerstyle for the most part, and I have a Sigma 000M-1ST+. The model is great for fingerstyle purposes and it is outstandingly well-made for a 400$ guitar. But one day I'd love to delve into the world of electric guitars, get a classy Strat or something. Also I saw a PRS S2 Studio in a video by Music is Win, and just fell in love with the sound. That would be my dream guitar for now.

Hi Paul, congratulations on finding a guitar you love! It really sounds nice! I already have my dreamr acoustic, a handmade dreadnaught by a luthier Michigan, MJ Franks Guitars. I ordered it with the wood combination I wanted in 09. It’s perfect and he is still going strong today. Of an electric, I do know it would not be aged artificially or be a vintage guitar. Boring, but my dream electric would probably be a Fender custom shop masterbuilt Strat, also made with the ingredients I would choose, with almost regular electronics because I just find my happy place with a Strat more than all the other models available. I like many of them, and have some, but I guess that’s just the right thing for me. Congratulations again!

English is my first language and I say twenty-oh-nine, I also say two thousand and nine. Where you confused by what year he meant ? Did you think the guitar was thousands of years old or maybe from the future ?

I recently saw a concert with Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen, and they were both playing Collings guitars. They sounded awesome, even with no accompaniment.

That's a beautiful new guitar Paul. Glad that it makes you happy. My dream acoustic would be a Loucin guitar. They beautifully hand made. Used by Phil X, Alex Lifeson, Zakk Wylde, and Serj Tankian. They're amazing guitars.

I don't know if it's me, but it made me really happy seeing Paul laugh 3:38. Sometimes this KZfaq persona thing gets so familiar to the viewer which leads him to forget about what an impression this person behind the screen would make if he were to meet him. It is just nice to observe human interactions as a 3rd.

Neat guitar! That bridge is cool. The little "pyramid" shapes on each end are a nod to some old style bridges that were popular on hand made guitars many years ago.

Just a beautiful tone on that guitar. I would have never thought about that particular guitar, but this video has my interest.

Man those small body adi-topped guitars are magical! I bought a Martin CEO-7 recently (same specs as Paul’s minus the cut-away) and it’s freaking incredible. It’s my dream guitar!!! They say that a certain guitar will not make you better but this one calls me to play it as often as possible!!!

These are my all time dream guitars (which I WILL own one day!!): Acoustic --> A pre-war spec Martin OM-18 Electric --> 1961 (or Custom Shop spec) Fender Strat in Fiesta red, refretted with 6105s I have the material quality equivalents in different forms of these, but one can dream for the real thing one day... Congrats on the NGD!

Great deal bro.Collings are amazing, extremely balanced all across the spectrum. Taylor sounds very bright and is not very present in the low end, Collings sounds very soothing to the ear. Congratulations on your new guitar!

My dream guitar, a toss up between an acoustic or an electric. I am currently blessed to have a few really nice instruments that have served me will for many decades. To actually list what I'd like in a dream guitar, that choice seems to change daily! After watching this video I'd like to play/evaluate a Collings guitar. High end acoustic guitars such as this Collings consistently provide the player with a superior platform to sound great, I feel more so important than a really nice electric solid body. What this Collings instrument does is allow an good/experienced musician the opportunity to sound great, no strike that, to sound fantastic time and time again. Great video Paul, and congrats on the newest member of your 6-Stringed Family.

Parlor guitars are stunning and so underrated. I have a Gibson L1, almost the same size and with the same tonewoods. Adirondack takes time to open up but it'll be a well worth journey
