'Love your videos. They are so clear and comprehensive. The additional diffuser you show in the video once the barn doors are removed seems like an excellent idea. Are they available for the 800D?
@ArtVideoProductions
@ArtVideoProductions 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the feedback :) No, the GVM 800D doesn’t have the thread mount required for these diffusers. You can use any frost Gel sheet in front of it by cutting to size as they usually come as 20x24”. But you DO want to cut that gel to a size bigger than the panel which will provide a bigger light source and more diffused. Clamp the gel on the barn doors using a gaffer tape or wood clothing pins.

VERY good review. Thank you. Just a question: were i live I can only get the 480LS or the 800d. Do you know the difference?
@ArtVideoProductions
@ArtVideoProductions 3 жыл бұрын
The 480LS is a bicolor light, with lens type LED diodes making this light brighter and slightly spottier. The 800D is a RGB which not only the LEDs are on the flood type (wider beam) and less intense plus sharing the panel space with bicolor and RGB. I’d get the 800D for being an RGB light.

Great review, love how in depth it is. Just wondering how long you can usually power it off with batteries for (and what type of battery you used for that time)?
@ArtVideoProductions
@ArtVideoProductions 3 жыл бұрын
Larry Chan you can easily calculate how long any battery will power a light (watts per hour) without even trying it first. No guessing. example 1: an 11.1 volt 4,400 mAh battery - first divide the mAh rating by 1,000 to get the Ah rating - 4,400/1,000 - 4.4ah. You can now calculate as - 4.4Ah x 11.1 volts = 48.8Wh THAT MEANS, a GVM 50-RS (50 watts) with this battery mentioned above, will power the light for 58 minutes at 100% Now, imagining If the GVM 50- RS were a 100 watt light, that same battery then, will only power the light for 26 minutes. example 2: a 12 volt 50 Ah battery - 50 Ah x 12 volts = 600Wh. There’s an App named “wattsampsvolts” (all together) that you can download from the App Store or Google play. Just input the Volts + the milliamperes, then it gives you the watt hour. Then see how many watts whatever light you’re using has and divide the result by the watts. A 50 watt/hour battery can only power a 100 watt light for 30 minutes. A 100 watt/hour battery will power it for 1 hour and so on... Every battery has a label in the back with that info.

Would the three light purchase of 800D lights ( for which you can get soft boxes) or the 50RS lights be a better investment for someone who is just starting to buy lights for videos? Thank you.
@ArtVideoProductions
@ArtVideoProductions 3 жыл бұрын
I would buy as: 1- primary light: get a light that accepts a Bowen’s mount. You will ALWAYS need a light with a large softbox for key light. 2- then, get a set of TWO 50-RS to use for whatever other things such as background lighting, hair, accent lights etc. That would make the perfect set. I don’t like using these little square panels as a key light because the soft boxes are not soft enough for key light. A true softbox has at least 2 diffusers and a much bigger light source, and much more powerful. Here’s the perfect main light for you: the GVM G100W, and it’s also a BI-COLOR light for even more versatility! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rZikn7d9xM_Heps.html but the fan on this light can be a little noisy. Another option is to get a Godox SL-60W. The fans on these new batches since 2019 are now very quiet!

Great video! I'm about to make the order for 2x rs 50s but I'm wondering if on the new model, do you lose daylight output because of the extra tungsten leds or its completely separate and the same power? Thanks!
@ArtVideoProductions
@ArtVideoProductions 3 жыл бұрын
Whatever Bi-Color light you buy, you’ll always lose half of the power since the both led colors are being shared in the panel. A daylight only light, all LEDs are all the same color giving you more power. BUT, having a bicolor panel, to me, is always preferred.

@@ImageforgeAsia none of these panels including the Aputure 672 is enough to light a green green. You need much bigger lights, at least, LONGER lights. Or a large strip soft boxes, one on each side. I’d recommend the Genaray SSL-50 at BH. Take a look. But if you’re successfully lighting a green screen with such tiny lights, good for you.
