New hard hats made in Wilsonville could be safety breakthrough

Coming out of a production facility in Wilsonville, liners made with a new material could change the standard for hard hats in the construction industry.

Just had a wrench fall on me from a coworker while I was removing a rudder on a tugboat ; will be getting a hard hat and wearing it even though it isn’t required where I’m at .

Side protection saved my life possibly this week, I was wearing a full brim hat, when turning on high pressure water hose with heavy brass nozzle someone had left nozzle open and when I opened the valve it flew up striking me in temple area if not for the hard hat, it barely touched my skin but did stagger me nonetheless, Thankfully. I will always recommend a full brim style from now on , and with the right liner.

I just ordered one. They are pricey, but I can't put a price on my safety. They also have other helmets for some sports, like bicycling, etc.

Imagine that technology in a protos helmet for arborist work where I’ve had 3 helmets cracked and needed stitches while hanging up in a tree due to shotty Crain ops I’ve always joked about helmets they only save you from osha violations if you really got hit they won’t help anyways but I’m glad someone is pushing the limit to find an actual solution much like body armor I thought it was too heavy and hot till it started actually stopping rifle rounds can’t wait to see how it improves the safety in the industry

These helmets are so uncomfortable. They cause headaches and neck pain from the weight of the helmet. They are probably awesome in a lab, but they are not made for construction work.

This is not a hard hat , it is a contraption. This guy must work for wavecell, been wearing for six months , this is the most uncomfortable torture device ever forced upon my head , makes a busy 8 hour day feel like a slow 12 hour day with bosses watching. The adjustment dial has a knob on the inside covered with thin plastic that drills into the back of my skull to my brain , the back of my head is raw. The hat sits high on my head and feels like its going to fall off if I don't crank it tight. This thing sits directly on your head no shock absorption if you take a blow you will feel it for sure , if you take a side blow your head will move with the hit, I don't see how these are even legal. The accessory clips on the side get caught on orange fencing and on wires or any thing that will fit in the grove. The ones with the chin strap are even more dangerous can get caught on rebar or even be potentially fatal if rigging fails and catches the strap. Strap breaks at 24 lbs , 23,lbs can do some damage. For the price of one dangerous hat you can get 8 reliable fibermetal hats. There's your honest review thumbs down.

@@michaelspencer2559 so you've assumed that because you don't work construction, no one will? it's one of the biggest employment sectors in the USA, outside of desk jobs with an annual growth rate of 0.5%.. Don't make assumptions - it just makes you look siily.

Hmm more like I've been working construction for over 30 years. So I would more say experience first hand. Skilled workers are dieing off with nobody to replace. You don't believe me do some research. Now I'm done with this conversation. Thanks

Have you got anything to back up what you're saying? because skilled workers aren't dying off.. there is more work than ever and there still isnt enough skilled workers to go around.. that's why they're hard to come by. You're wrong. it's as simple as that. you're arguing with fact here.
