New Haven Railroad RDC Running In The Snow

Due to its location being surrounded by other railroads, one might not immediately understand that the Danbury Railway Museum has several pieces of equipment that operate regularly for visitors in season. On Saturday, February 17, 2024, New York, New Haven & Hartford Railway Budd RDC 32 was brought out during the Volunteer Workshop Day to take a spin. Prior to this "demonstration" trip, we had a conversation about the best way to show that the collection is not stuffed and mounted but operable, and the crew obliged. During the their busiest time last year, the Christmas season, thousands of people rode with their families and visited Santa.

Great video! Love to see these old machines still eat up some rails, especially on my hometown railroad! Wish one day the DRM could run excursions along the Maybrook line like they did back in the day...

i think it would be neat if this train had permission to run to where ever the Maybrook ends on the NY side and Canaan, at the same time train would sell out rather quickly if just using the single car.

@@HarrisonPeloso They should the tracks are still usable for sure and Housatonic would probably give them the rights. Likely a lack of funding
