New Home and FZR1000 Restoration Update

I was absent for the last couple months taking care of some personal stuff. I'm in a new home and the new garage is ready to go and the FZR1000 restoration will now begin.
The plan is to start stripping the bike down in the next video. The original gas tank was taken for chemical paint removal and acid dipping to remove all the rust. When that was done, the remains of the metal show pitting and small holes. I'll be using a 2 part fuel resistant epoxy to repair the tank before I repaint it.
Time to get going on this project!!

Hi Ken. I used many times an epoxy for sealing tanks made by a company named Caswell. Their product is amazing! 5 years later, there are no issues. I'll definitely watch this series! I'm looking forward to😊

Hi Chris - my dilemma is that I don't want to coat the inside of the tank - I really want to leave it bare metal and repair the outside. I'll be posting a video on just how bad the tank was and where it is today. I had the original tank chemically stripped and acid dipped to remove all the paint and rust. I found a 2-part epoxy that is fuel resistant from a company in California and it's meant to be used with either fibreglass or carbon fibre. I found some really fine and lightweight fibreglass (2.6oz) cloth that feels like silk. I'll be putting it on the outside of the tank where the holes are since I really want to leave the inside of the tank bare metal. If this doesn't work then I'll just repair and repaint that yellow tank I found locally (it's from a 1988).
